    I saw Crowded House in May 2023. They are great live. Neil Finn is from New Zealand. Nick Seymour, and the late Paul Hester (drummer) are from Australia. I always enjoy seeing the gems. I also enjoyed the Dylan movie.

    Hey Bob, another fun episode! Looks like it will take you a while to go through all those boxes alphabetically! There are a lot more good and “valuable” records under individual artists which won’t necessarily appear in a Northern Soul list. Chubby Checker has a great song called “Karate Monkey” which is maybe more of a Mod dancer, but it’s still an excellent $30 ish record.
    One method you could also look at is to check out artists in the “list” and look ‘em up in Popsike. Refine your search with the word 45 in there and sort by highest price sold. A lot of times the UK pressed version is the high value one…. Or the demo version…. I believe the definitive Northern Soul guide is the John Manship book “Manship's USA Rare Soul Guide” It’s expensive but an absolute gem as a resource.
    If you like the style of Northern Soul, you could also look out for stuff like “Popcorn” and “Deep Funk”, both have hardcore devotees and excellent to listen to and high value records.
    Keep on searchin’……

    Awesome haul! By the way, that black stamp on the label of “Crazy Mama” had to do with the fact that the part of the Shelter Records logo was found to be too similar to the Superman “S” logo, so it had to be hastily censored until a new logo was introduced…

    Gene Chandler Such a pretty thing is a classic northern soul record, he has done some brilliant Northern songs. Don't just take the top 500 as gospel as there is thousands of NS records and I have a book listing 22000 of them.

      @RockMine  2 дні тому

      @@davidsparkes4377 I’d like to get a copy of that book. point well taken . As I get more familiar with the “genre” I’ll get more hits beyond the list - thanks for commenting 🎶👍🏻✌️😎

      @@RockMine If you ever go back to that shop, I'd probably pick up Such A Pretty Thing by Gene Chandler, but also in the same box was From The Teacher To The Preacher by Gene Chandler and Barbara Acklin, another Northern song!

    First I Look At The Purse by The Contours is a less popular Northern Song you might want to get some day, along with The Entertainer by Tony Clarke, Such A Pretty Thing by Gene Chandler and From The Teacher To The Preacher by Gene Chandler and Barbara Acklin!

    Don't know how long you've been into 45s, but perhaps you remember May's Records on 8-Mile around I-75, and Cappy's Records someplace on the east side. Both stores were loaded with obscure 45s, and both run by old, unique, and eccentric characters. I remember picking up a handful of near mint Reflections records on Golden World at May's.

    I think the black bar across the logo on the J. J. Cale 45 was because of a copyright complaint with DC comics due to it's similarity to the Superman logo.
