Lotta fun digging for old 45’s. I sold off 95% of my collection over the years. 20 years ago at the old Flea Market on Folsom Blvd in Sacramento CA. I picked up a huge Tote full of a few hundred Rare N Soul 45s. Many had D.J. Stamps from a long gone local R&B Radio station . They were really clean . I didn’t know what I had until I started researching. Sold most all but a couple to collectors in Germany for Crazy $$.
Great video yet again Northern Soul top 100 A Lovers Concerto The Toys on Dynovoice definitely worth picking up if you go back again. All the best Phil
@ I’ve started getting more into 45’s, mainly for space. I don’t need a whole album if I only need a song or two. I’ve learned that it’s actually more fun digging through 45’s than LP’s!
@ I agree with you whole heartedly. Let’s not forget an “album” is just a collection of songs (singles… aka 45s!!!!). But, someone has taken away the pleasure of collecting them and has the audacity of sequencing them in an order of their choosing!!!! most 45s are found in the raw with a patina that tells a story of their lifetime use and popularity, stickers scribbles scratches and scuffs tell are a beautiful patina that provide a width and breadth to grading that dwarfs their LP bretheren, whole mostly have lived comfortable lives being sleeved and shelved (boring). Thus making the rare NM single w picture sleeve and jukebox card a heavenly trifecta and freak of nature! Who’s to say we can’t make our own albums anyway!!! I love dropping the needle on a scratchy Good rated 45 and having the deep and wide spaced grooves carry me away into garage rock Nirvana after the initial 5 seconds of hissing and crackling making petty grading systems instantly irrelivant! 🎶✌️👍🏻😎
Id love to go hunting for northern soul 45s over there. If you can try and get hold of Manship's USA guide to rare soul 45s. The price guide bible for those searching for soul
some of the early tamla releases did come in those generic brown sleeves, or the soul label came in those rougher mauve thicker sleeves. always be careful when re sleeving that you don't throw the original just because it is plain.
@@bbrexuk yes, sleeves a whole different level knowledge to be gleaned for sure. The Motown Museum has a superb display showing early releases w and w/o their sleeves. I hope the y expand it w the museum in ‘25 and of course Third Man Record’s reissues are a nice starting point for beginners too. Thanks for the info 👍🏻🎶✌️😎
Another great Episode. Very fun!Thumbs up! Trish

@@nottinghamsoul7790 dude, my ultimate fantasy is doing a bus tour w a bunch of NS fans - buying 45s and hitting all the museums / landmarks✌️😎
I was just given 3 boxes of vintage records. Several unsleeved 45s. A few have matching sleeves and labels.
Good feeling, isn’t it? Enjoy!!! 🎶✌️😎👍🏻
The temptations record is a 1960 doo wop record. The hit side was barbara and it was popular in n.y.c.
Cool - thanks for the info ✌️🎶👍🏻😎
