People can say what they will about the fat tires, but I do love the fact that I can ride over ANYTHING and just keep on rolling. 😎 Great test. I tend to hang out around PAS 2 and blip the throttle taking off from a stop, until the pedals can catch up! I'm surprised you got more range out of the throttle-only. Great info!
Yeap, fat tires are fun. There are some who will not agree, but thats okay. Like what you like and others can like what they like. When I am riding alone I am usually in PAS 3. When I ride with my wife I am usually in PAS 2. My legs get into a rythem easier in PAS 3 and keep a steady speed and pace.
@@theridewithlance. How many miles can you ride in pas 2 before you need to recharge the battery?
Thank you
@@briancannamore8494 I got 40.6 miles on PAS 2.
@@theridewithlance. Thank you
I’m considering buying a new rad rover 6 plus, I have the rad rover from 2015 with the 48 volt 11.6 ah battery and I get just about twenty or so miles in pas 1 mode, and about eight miles on throttle only.
I think it might be time for an upgrade. Thank you for sharing.
I just want a motorcycle but my grandpa has moved, got rid of a lot of things and gave us one of these bikes. Even though its definitely no motorcycle this still looks like so much fun lol
They really are a lot of fun.
I really enjoyed your video, thank you for putting your bike through the test, gives me information I’d wondered about for a while!
Glad it was helpful!
great job lance, thank you for all the videos that you prepared for us.
Thanks for watching. Have a great day.
Thanks for the video! Canadian here, I wouldn’t even be able to do a throttle-only ride because our version is limited to 500 W, it won’t go up some steeper hills on throttle-only
Sorry to hear that. I didnt know Canada limited it to 500w.
@@theridewithlance and Europe 250w :-(
@@Whitywolfyeah that it is really annoying. It would be possible, and initially they sold the US versions. But that, at least in Germany, would mean they are „Pedelec“ and needed insurance and a small licence plate. I think RadPowerBikes just skipped a lot of trouble and easy access to the market with going so low in W‘s :(
Stick with Canadian mist 😮
Thank you. I'm 70 and considering this model
I really enjoy it. It has a nice smooth power delivery with no surprises. Great for cruising around on.
@@theridewithlance Thanks Lance. I'll be buying one in two months to drive around Missoula Montana at age 70!
Thank you for making this video.
My pleasure!
Great location this bike seems a bit faster than the radrunner I believe it has the same motor but just different wheel diameter so it makes total sense you could go a bit quicker beautiful location also!
Thank you. I have some mice riding paths near home. It does make sense about the wheel sizes. Have a great week.
Interesting test on what looks like virtually flat ground. I live in Eastern Tennessee which is very hilly. I my bike would be lucky to get 12 miles. Elevation gains obviously kill any chance of long range. Thanks.
Yes, the ground was fairly flat. It did have a few ups and downs, but nothing really more the 30 feet. Hills would definitely made a big difference.
Enjoyed the ride and looks like the bike did well!
Thanks 👍. I was a bit worried about overheating the battery, but it did fine. Hope all is well in your neck of the woods.
@@theridewithlance just hot 🥵
Enjoyed the video, rad rover 6 in South Texas 🤙🤙
RadRover 6 Northern California.
An electric bike is an easy way to explore the area. I use a regular bike and keep pedaling but at some point, I will go electric also or maybe use both. Good idea to test out how far you can go without pedaling.
I am pedaling 99 percent of the time, usually in PAS 2 or 3 just so I can get some exercise in. It also feels more natural to pedal then use throttle only. I was having a real hard time during this throttle only test as my legs wanted to pedal. Have a wonderful week.
I own both and still use both. I cant go on 6 hour bike rides on my normal bike and I cant go on certain trails with my Ebike so both serve a purpose
Great review. So I can see that I go about 10 mi one way on my Rover 6.
Yes, thats about what I got. Maybe more for you if your lighter them me. I am a big guy.
@@theridewithlance I'm 6'3 at 250 lb thanks for the reply
hello please how configure the display to use only the throttle and ride without pedaling ? thank you
No configuring needed. Just twist the throttle if you want to use throttle only.
Great review thank you
Thanks for watching!
A lovely video. I live in the UK and I am waiting for the crappy weather to end to get back out on my Rad Rhino Power 6 what type of Bike handle bar extender are you using on your Rad?
It is a Yizhet Bike Handlebar Extender. Here is a link to check it out if you want:amzn.to/45BApU2 Hope you get to ride soon.
Just found your channel and I’d like to ask what motor you have and what size is your front basket please
Thank you for watching. The front basket is from Rad Power Bikes and is the medium basket. It is 11x15x4.8. The motor is a 750w motor also from Rad Power Bikes.
But how exactly does throttle only beat PAS 5? Cant wrap my mind around that one since you're pedaling in PAS.. would expect that to beat throttle only by 5 to 10 miles not the other way around 🤔
It boggled me to. I did notice when I was in PAS 5 the battery was running at 750 watts more times then it was on throttle only. In throttle only it would hit max speed and back off on the watts unless the bike slowed down. This may have made the difference.
The gearing for the Rad Power Bikes is set for a max of 20-22 mph. You are not pedaling much for power if you set your cut off speed to the max of 24.8 mph (40kmh). Much easier to use the throttle if you do need to go 24.8 mph.
I once had the rover pedal crank bolt come loose and the pedal crank fall off and needed the throttle to get home. Another time I wiped out single track riding and broke my handlebar stem at the bolts (floppy handlebars. It was very difficult to pedal; but, way easier to hit the throttle with one hand and hold the stem in my other hand to ride the 7 miles home.
What’s the purpose of the bar on top of your handlebars?
Its an accessory bar. I use it to hold a phone mount and my Gopro. Although I dont put anything on it when I am shooting a video for the my channel as the phone obstructs the cameras view from my chest mount.
Where did you find that mount for those accessories?
@@mrawesome12345 The the accessories I use is listed in the description of the video. If you are talking about the accessory bar attached to the handlebar, I got if on Amazon.
Mine only does 6mph with throttle how you get that speed???
Are you in the USA or the UK.
@@theridewithlance uk lance its a dutch import
@@djboogiedownuk The speed is probably limited by law in the country you live in. I have not found a way to unlock the european models. Sorry.
Ok thanks Lance
6! wtf lol
Ok, I’m guessing 15 miles. Will watch and respond below.
Surprised you got to 20 mi, not bad!
Surprised me too.
