Thank you for this review! I need to wait till end of year to buy 2 ebikes... I live up the hill from the beach, with lots of trails to ride. I'm tempted by a switchable torque-cadence sensor but prefer the Radster Trail tire size, frame stability, and battery safety features. And, my LBS services Rad bikes.
@@danhall3450 there's four that I know of so far: Euphree Stellar Falcon, Troxus Lynx Plus and Troxus Explorer Plus, and the Magicycle Ocelot Pro 2.0. Of the four, the Euphree requires you to go into a menu to switch from torque to cadence, whereas Magicycle and both Troxus bikes have a dedicated button on the controller. The Troxus Lynx and Magicycle have 20x4 inch tires (the others have larger diameter tires).
@@danhall3450 besides the Ocelot Pro 2.0, the Troxus Lynx Plus, Troxus Explorer Plus, and Euphree Stellar Falcon all have switchable torque cadence sensors. From what I've read, the Euphree requires you to push multiple buttons to get it to switch ,whereas the others have a one-button push.
best, most thorough review on this bike on ytube!!! test road one last week. throttle sort of lunged the bike forward a bit instead of smooth take off. my IZIP did not. overall a very pleasant riding experience though. my IZIP had cruise control - meaning you could choose any speed and “lock it in”, just like cruise control on a car. do any current e-bike brands have this feature? my IZIP battery failed and I can not find a replacement - any thoughts on how I can get a replacement or a different compatible battery?
My first ebike was a 2020 Rad Rover step thru. The 21 inch step over height has become increasingly hard to do. Now at 76 years old, I do not even ride the Rover at all anymore. Last year I bought a Magicycle Ocelot with a 13 inch step through. The Ocelot has more power and torque than the Rover. Rad has always given good service but the limit of 700 watt peak, and a still high step thru is a no go for me.
Great video. I’ve been shopping around for an e-bike that would get me to a new job 30 miles from my apartment. I live in DC and winter is coming. Besides cutting down on time commuting, the snow and ice are my biggest concern. I don’t have a car and I need to be at work before the subway opens. I’m also 6’4” and 260lbs. This bike seems like the best fit. I have two questions. Will the 3” tires be safe and able to be used on the rare snowstorm we get here. And two: is there a way to attach a back up battery, for extra range?
Hey also road a radcity step thru in dc during the snow and these should do way more than the more than the smaller tires and those still did great! I road that bike all around the DMV, from the trails all the way around the Pentagon, rushing around cars and buses in the city, and all the way up the hills further up north in the city. I had the bike 2 years with regular cheap maintenance at the REI and it was great! Good luck with your biking adventure!
I would have 26x5 tires if they were available. Main reason is because I ride in the desert where mountains of soft sand exist. 3 inch tires bog down, where 4 and 5 inch tires tend to ride higher on the sand surface. The wider the tire, the less chance of burying your nose when flying down a hill and run into a deep soft pile of sand. And of course the only way to ride down a hill is to fly down it. Can't do that with the smaller 20 inch tires. Hoping for a new style Rover based on the RADster design. And I already have the Radster Trail. Ride RAD! 🙂
People keep saying the Road and trail have identical frames. Go to the website and take another look. They are not identical. Not a big deal at all but even the rad rep said this in the store as I was sitting right next to the bikes, and he was a bit embarrassed when I pointed out the lower bars are indeed unique to each bike.
At the same price, you could get the Velotric Summit or even the Discovery 2, both w/ more power (torque), higher quality on the battery & more travel in the front fork. I'd also look at the Himiway D5 Pro, the mid-drive. For Rad, though, this is the 1st bike that I like, but think that there are much better options for the same price.
Could you provide a bit more detail? I’m thinking about buying one. Are you able to get someone on the phone? How has the experience let you down? What solution did they offer you? Do you know what the problem is? Thanks!

Plan to buy this bike in the future. I have the radcity 2019.
Great review! Another reviewer noted some frame flex on the regular size frame at 28 mph. Would you say you noted the same experience?
I like this bike, but I wish they’d use a full fender on the front than that short one.
I hear ya
Most people cut it down anyway

"switchable torque-cadence sensor" The 1st I have heard of this. What bikes come with that feature?

Rad was always meant to be a beginner ebike
Once you buy one you kinda move on after

Makes sense to me!
Which bike would you recommend for a cross country, coast to coast trip... pulling a Hurley- type trailer.
Oh wow, something with big batteries!
I would have loved the look of a BMX bike
Which one I should get Large or regular I am 5,9

Did I miss it, can you pedal in PAS 1 up to 20 mph, or do you have to go to a higher pedal assist?
You'll need a higher pedal assist I think unless you've got super strength. Check out the beginning of the first person riding footage.

Just a reminder, the price for this bike will be about $2,200, starting on 7/1/24.
Would go with ecells or wired and get 60v for that price.

I got a cheap but fun bike. Ride 1up Turris!
How do you shift to a lower gear?
Gear shifter 😂
8.2% is not much of a grade. Here in NE Tennessee that's almost flat land.
Price on website is $2199.00 (not $1999.00)
forgot to use your blinkers😂
I bought a bike from Rad and it broke down a couple months later. Support has been horrible! I suggest buying another brand.
Thank you for sharing your experience. What Rad bike is it?

Nice job. Good bike but dayum is pricey, I'd put slicks on her
And now the price has increased
Hub motor = poor weight distribution = bad offroad handling 😢
with the bike being almost 80 pounds does that matter much? curious to know. thanks.
