I loved the Electricians attitude towards the house. As long as he is working on it, it is HIS HOUSE. That is the same attitude I take when I am working on something and at times working for someone else.
I love the fact that the electrician, plumber and all the trades that Mike brings in to the houses act as though it’s their own house. They go out as the way to do extras and not just the basics like so many do. I like the fact that the carpet layer put extra padding down because he knew there’s a little boy in the house that would be playing on it. Way to go all of you. And of course, Mike Holmes, Damon, and the crew all work hard and do extras also. That’s where it starts from. It’s so nice to see!
It is nice to see these episodes again, back to back, that you had posted before as singles. Sure would be even better if you would post some of the hundreds of Holmes episodes that you have not posted on UA-cam yet. Please, Thank You!
I know this is a really old episode and I've seen it a few times, but I just noticed @41:00 that they didn't put banisters on the basement stairs. Very odd for Mike Holmes and crew to miss this. Weird.
That’s why I bought new, thinking it would protect me, then I started seeing his episodes about new homes and went DANGIT - so at least I knew what to look for in my walkthroughs
Suspended ceilings are the WORST to put in. I put up several of them in the Army. Wasn't my M.O.S. but ordered to put them in. Same with horizontal window blinds. Made MANY OF THEM, again not my M.O.S. but it is still trades I now have learned
My dad bought me a house when I was homeless. I had no income and he wouldn't pay for a home inspection. He died shortly after the purchase. I've spent all my inheritance on repairs and there is so much more to do. My disability only goes so far.
No covered entrance to the front door? Bad move Holmes. There's no way I want to get drenched while unlocking the door. The roof overhang doesn't protect the door. The metal awning may not be attractive. It could be replaced with a wood shingled entrance roof. But why spend the money? The rest of the work in the house was very good.
There ARE National Codes for Construction, Plumbing, Electrical and H/V/AC. WHY are "Home Inspectors" Not Required to at least show "Reasonable Proficiency" in understanding those codes, Before a License is Issued? Insurance Companies could easily Force this issue! A large Administration would Not be required. 1-2 Office Administrators with Computers in each State with one Office could shuffle the paperwork, once Implementation has taken place. All States and Cities Would need to ensure their Specific Additional Codes were kept up to date. The "Reasonable Proficiency" would be provided by Written Testing which could be done in stages. Read the Code(or gain through Employment) then take the Test for each portion. When Completed the Applicant Would Qualify as a Home Inspector. Liability Insurance Required!
It all amazes me, he always finds the worst of the worst cases. As a real estate agent myself sounds like your agent did you a disservice and gave you horrible advise to not get a home inspection. The only time you exclude a home inspection is if your buying the land or doing a house tear down.. and even then you would do a tank sweep.
I think the outside vacuum hose was for vacuuming off the cat and dog hair off your clothes before you went to work I think You know who cares when I think
Brit here, home inspections? by who? the inspectors are not qualified to a national standard, do not carry proof of indentures and qualifications why?- dont need them! Any fool can set himself up as a inspector with a realtor and earn money! The inspectors need inspecting themselves. Why isn't there National exams and certificates? Its obvious these jack the lads keep Mike and the TV company in business!!
Hopefully, they are redoing the stream. The last one was from November and I, probably most of us who are fans, have seen all of them several times. I would love them to add newer, more recent episodes; surely, they have many after 2011.
I absolutely love all Holmes show's. But the only that gets me riled up is the fact that Mike himself alway says "get a home inspection before you buy" but 99% of the time in these shows he declares "I didn't see this & that & the problem here & over there in the inspector's report". Are there any good ones left in Canada ? This show really made home inspectors seem like a bunch of lazy ass scammers & bozo's ... together with all these so called "contracters" it's like the CDA homebuilding industry is as bad as it can be !
The government and courts need to hold those inspectors responsible for fires and death do to negligence then we would not have this problems I don't understand how they can certified all is OK and safe then hold them to it period.
Please stop calling gutters eavesdrop like it's some sort of special part of a roof Also why aren't the downpipes connected to the city storm water network
I've seen enough of these shows to know that having a home inspection doesn't do squat. Mike is always on about how could the home inspectors miss so many blatant problems. Which begs the question, why do we bother with home inspectors? They just take your money and run. Pitiful.

But no handrails on the basement steps…?
I know this is a really old episode and I've seen it a few times, but I just noticed @41:00 that they didn't put banisters on the basement stairs. Very odd for Mike Holmes and crew to miss this. Weird.
Yeah I noticed that too very confused
I'm gunshy now. If I ever am touring a house, I'm bringing a notebook and a severe case of paranoia.
That’s why I bought new, thinking it would protect me, then I started seeing his episodes about new homes and went DANGIT - so at least I knew what to look for in my walkthroughs
Mike Holmes says "always get a home inspection", but it's no guarantee. For many people it's just a waste of money as other episodes prove.
Great job from australia
Unfortunately people waved inspections like crazy during COVID…it’ll be interesting to see how many more of these stories are still to come

I'm sorry but those metal awnings are awesome! At least salvage them for those who appreciate them!
The fire place they have is more aesthetic then heat i had one they should get a fan that throughs the heat its for fire places.
Defect:- Stairs coming downstairs to basement do not have handrails.
Who is the "right"home inspector????
We're in Maryland, and my daughter just bought a new house. How do you find the most experienced inspector ?????
My dad bought me a house when I was homeless. I had no income and he wouldn't pay for a home inspection. He died shortly after the purchase. I've spent all my inheritance on repairs and there is so much more to do. My disability only goes so far.

Why stress home inspection when more than half of your programs show the failure of home inspectors.

Love it. That’s exactly what is needed. Right now there’s nothing that requires anything out of them. You did it right on the nose.
that's a mess brand new trucks are constantly going wrong
“I just thought it was a really cute house”. How many times has Mike heard that one ? 😂😂😂

@HOMEFULTV PLEASE FIX AND BRING BACK THE 24/7 LIVESTREAM
Hopefully, they are redoing the stream. The last one was from November and I, probably most of us who are fans, have seen all of them several times. I would love them to add newer, more recent episodes; surely, they have many after 2011.
Gutters is such a better name, also Garbage Dispolal
I'd bet $$$ the so-called flees, were either bird bugs or bed bugs.
Why can’t we see the ones from the beginning????
Seems most of your shows the people got an inspection. Wasn’t worth the paper they were written on.
Bad news sells, especially in reality TV. At least Holmes' crew turns them into (hopefully) happy endings.
@@MMuraseofSandvich to be fair, if someone's inspection goes well, they don't call Mike. Not really a show to be made there.
These guys fear of wood burning fireplaces is ridiculous. Clean them once a year and they will last you a lifetime.
Have an Inspector, or Not, watching your shows, NO difference. Can Home Inspector be held libel.

Some people want to see the episodes from the beginning
Hopeful puts 2 episodes together and calls it new ones
Well... as these series shows: an in spector doesnt help

They don't say gutters in Canada 😅
In the US, the gutters aren't allowed to be installed in the city sewer system anymore.
