The longest pack video I've ever seen. Appreciate it
Thanks for checking it out, Travis! 😃

When you place them side-by-side the 2 looks quite a bit smaller. Personally I like the smaller size but I’m short so it makes sense. One recommendation, when showing versions of the same pack I think you should pack them the same so we get an actual idea of the difference and not just a kind of idea. Additionally I think you should use a standard load out for various sized packs 20, 30, etc) again because it gives the overview more context. I really liked the 2 but even still I’m sticking with the Arktype Dashpack 2. Cheers, Christopher
Your idea of a standard load out for various size packs is an excellent idea.
Thank you. :)
Thanks for the detailed comparison! I'm considering picking up either and I think the 2 would be my pick. The briefcase straps look nicer (even if a little bigger), I prefer the carabiners on the backpack straps because the clips' durability worry me, and while it does suck that it doesn't have ventilation at all, it looks great totally plain and can pull off briefcase mode better.
Thanks for the insights, Max! 😃

Would love to see a review on the fjallraven kanken travel pack small
Oooo I love the flight pack. If I needed a daily driver that I could use for everything else I’d get this in a heart beat.
Might be an odd thing to worry about but the new version seems like it has more of a gap where the should straps are tucked away where the 1 and 2 seemed to cover it better. I’d just worry about rain collecting in there potentially. Probably not a big deal. I’m the same way with bottle holders in that I feel like they should all have a relief system or tuck away/cover.
Good observation! Thanks for sharing, Noah!
- Austin
I think it's a good update if you only use the backpack, but it's not very good for those who want to use it with 3way.
If you are concerned about weather conditions would it have been better to get the X-PAC model instead?
Would you get the cordura version or the x-pac version?
After viewing the Flight Pack 3 on Aer’s website & watching your review I ordered a Flight Pack 3 X-PAC. Looking forward to receiving it in early Dec., 2022. I like the features especially the way the straps can be stowed away, & it can be carried as a briefcase, or as a messenger. On long trips I will probably carry it in briefcase mode while traveling (airports/trains, etc.) & use it as my everyday carry (backpack mode) when I get to my destinations (my primary travel bag is a Peak Design Travel Backpack 45L). I will also use the Flight Pack 3 as my primary bag for short weekend trips. The VX-42 X-PAC sailcloth exterior & the orange interior are what drove me to the X-PAC version. My work required me to travel (domestic & international), & now that I am retired I am looking forward to more travels, only this time for fun.
Thanks for sharing your insights, Wayne! You’ll have to let us know how you like it 😃
-Eric
I personally love the amount of pockets :) The big amount open up more strategies for different scenarios. You can always ignore them. I would even love to see more haha
Thanks for watching!
- Austin
In briefcase or messenger mode, did the water bottle stayed in its position? Good stuff on the review btw
How big does it look like on a shorter person? (5'1-5'2). Does it look too big?
The two has been my every day for years now. I think i prefer the smaller size and the sleeker straps. Interested by the updated interior pockets, especially the secondary horseshoe. Really hoping for a keyring and some extra drings on the bottom to strap a jacket or a tripod to... And bring back the smaller size. Ill be skipping out on the three.
Thanks for the insight, Thibault! Each new pack seems to have its own style while living within the Aer system. What would you want to see on the four?
-Eric
@@PackHacker2 I think I have a lot of the same complaints that other owners of the two have in this thread. Wishlist:
- Bring back the sleeker strap system (including the luggage passthrough and the better briefcase handle)
- Keep making improvements on the inside. I love the direction of the internals
- Would love a keyring that comes out of either the bottom secondary compartment, the quick grab, or the secondary compartment
- This is more of a personal use case, but I have a Peak design sling with two pairs of D-rings on the bottom that let me sling a jacket or a tripod on the bottom of the bag, and I love, love, love that feature. Really would like to see it on my everyday backpack. Living in NY means some days you really have to leave the house with a jacket but when it boils during the day I wish I had a spot to stash my jacket other than my arms
Thanks for an incredible video. Love the channel, keep up the good work
Thanks for all the insight on this pack, Thibault! We will have to wait and see how the 4 looks 😃 Thanks for watching!

Is there a way to still purchase the Flight Pack 2??
I very disappointed in this update. If you wanted a larger pack and a more comfortable/ventilated backing, why not select one of the other various options from Aer? The flight pack 2 was perfectly unique for what it was…a bag for, you know…flights.
The 2 was the perfect sleek “personal item” bag to accompany your carryon.
The new luggage strap is irritating, the size bump wasn’t necessary, the padding/ventilation makes the bag more bulky & much less attractive when the straps are stowed away (which would be a common use-case when pairing with roller luggage or stowing it under the seat).
The interior upgrades are nice, and it’s my personal opinion if they just applied those to the 2, they’d have a homerun.
Idk about y’all, but I’m disappointed…which brings me back to my first question: is there a way to still purchase the 2?
Totally agree, was so excited for this update but they made a totally different bag than the 2. The 3 isn't for me. Great comprehensive review btw.
Agreed. The addition of the back padding ruined the sleekness/uniqueness of 3-way carry of the FP2. This update seemed to push this bag towards having the same formula of just another Aer backpack
I get what you mean, but as someone who carries the FP2 x-pac every day, it looks to solve the comfort issue. It's not that the bag was uncomfortable, just not particularly comfortable. It's not like the Topo Commuter, this bag is primarily a backpack first. It has no pockets easily accessible in briefcase mode. Now you might say why not use one of the other Aer bags instead but they didn't actually have a bag of that size with a side handle (btw I'm likely to have a FP2 nylon to sell internationally). Also I thought about taking the FP2 on a flight once and found it too bulky as a secondary bag. I think increasing the size is more problematic than the back padding for flights
@@AA-17- the City Pack, Travel Pack small, and Slim Pack are all similar sizes and have a side handle.
@@AA-17- Yeah this update pushed the bag towards EDC and away from plane personal item. I use the FP2 for bigger trips 2 bag travel... personal item for the plane and then a day bag while I'm on my trip. If you use it for EDC only, and not travel, I imagine this is a nice update.
As someone who is debating upgrading from the FP2 this was a very helpful video, but the cleaning section is really long and not particularly relevant for a work use bag. I'm sure some bike commuters would appreciate it but still, it's on the longer side.
Just used my FP2 for a work trip and the comfort and capacity were lacking. Or maybe it's just because I know the FP3 exists now...
Glad you found the video helpful, and thanks for sharing your feedback!
All the little things on your current gear tend to magnify when the new version comes out 😆
- Austin
this is the perfect Personal Item bag for 2 bag travel.
Thanks for the insight! We dig this bag, too 😃
-Eric
I just bought the AER Flight Pack 2 after watching this review. Yes it’s 2 not 3. It’s an awesome, professional looking bag if you ask me.
What made you go with the 2, not the 3? 🧐
-Eric
@@PackHacker2 2 has great value for starters. Second, I was worried 3 might look to big. Also the side handles on the 3 protrude way too much in my opinion. I have the AER Slim Pack. I needed something slightly bigger for my 16 inch laptop. And one that converts to a briefcase, while having a professional aesthetic. Flight 2 is great! The only thing, if any, would be that I wished it were thinner. Backpacks that stick out on top are the worst. So I like how it hugs my back, although I know some complain that Flight 2 is too hot due to the back hugging. But that’s when I would use it as a briefcase. It’s my best backpack yet.
Thanks for the insight, 😃 You can’t go wrong with either!
-Eric
Same as me! just got my fp2 few days ago! fp2 rocks!
This or the travel pack 3 small???
Would you recommend this for work EDC, or is it too bulky and overkill? My office is just a few blocks away from my house, and I don't airplane or train travel for work. Thanks!
My items are:
1. Lunchbox
2. Water bottle
3. Shirt and shorts
4. Earphones
5. Laptop (sometimes)
Depending on the size of your lunch box, everything should fit inside without issue! It’s a versatile pack that works in most situations 😃
-Eric
I think I want this for my work edc
Good choice!
- Austin
I assume the zippers held up well with the rain considering they're aquaguard? Thats a slight concern of mine.
They're very water resistant, but not water proof. Thanks for watching! 😃
-Eric
Does the laptop compartment have a false bottom?
Yes, it does!
- Austin
Does this stand up by itself?
It sometimes does, but not all the time. It comes down to what you have inside 😃
-Eric
Not as good looking as the other aer bags with the nylon front.
Video is a bit long, could be 15 mins max, the cleaning bit was far too detailed.
Seems like a long winded review. It’s a backpack.
You can always speed it up 😃 Thanks for watching!
-Eric
Damn dude, this is more of a comparative and how to clean video. And definitely very very jumpy and all over the place.
Didn’t even open a pocket for 20+ min. Yikes.
There is not one single reason why this video should be 39 min long. If you are going to make videos longer than TV episodes then at least make them entertaining and not monotone. You should honestly consider editing this video down to 10/15 min and try re-uploading it. I didn’t want to watch it when I saw how long it was but I did anyways and I regret wasting that time for what could have been covered in less than half the length of this video. You guys are better than this.
It takes 30 min to see the laptop sleeve. On a laptop bag!
@@MrLlama999 There are links to the various sections of the video bruh. I appreciate the detailed review and simply click to jump to a specific part.
i love pack hacker because they review great bags but compared to almost all other reviewers, their reviews are pretty hard to watch. they often have less than helpful commentary and poor writing and editing. sometimes they seem to misunderstand features of the bags as well. sounds overly critical but it’s just my honest perspective!
That’s because this guys is not organized and is terrible. The bag is very good
This guy is BRUTAL. Damn man, have a plan.
40 min long and you couldn't even do a weekend pack demo smh... All bad
Thanks anyways dough 👍
There’s a handful of comments here saying the video is too long. I say it’s detailed. The travel pack 3 and travel pack small 3 video are 28:34 and 29:40 minutes respectively, which is well over the 12-15 minutes that some of the comments are suggesting, but I don’t see any comments on those videos for them being too long.
There is fast forward for a reason and if that doesn’t work, there is also the option to change the speed of the video (this reviewer speaks clearly enough that you could understand him at 1.5x - 1.75x). Could this review be shortened? Sure and so could any other review.
Of course, this just my opinion and everyone is entitled to theirs. I do however appreciate the detailed review as I would rather more information than less, so thank you for that! Love all the Aer reviews you guys put out 👍🏼👍🏼
