Can't believe this was the inspiration for "Che Che Cole" sang by Hector Lavoe and Willie Colon. It was a hit in the 70's and is still heard today. Awesome.
To all those arguing about this piece, first of all its not very important how you spell it. This is a Ghanaian folk song mostly sang by children, and in the original language's alphabet there is no "C". The sound is "che che cooley" as above, but an indigene writing it would spell it"Kye kye kule". It is mostly used for exercising. They don't even do all the lines here. The words go with actions... (every call and response done twice) Call: Che che kule (hands on your head) Response: Che kule Call: Cheche kofisa (hands on your shoulders) Response: Cheche kofisa Call: Kofi salanga (hands on your hips) Response: Kofi salanga Call: Kakachilanga (Hands on your knees) Response: Lalachilanga Call: Kum adende (touch your toes, hands on your hips) Response: Kum adende Its sang well here by a Ghanaian: ua-cam.com/video/rwQLc-Ho_lc/v-deo.html
Thank you for the explanation. When I was a child, back in the early 70's. A Salsa Group from New York, sang a song with those same words, that I am pretty sure copied from your exercise song. It's Amazing, I just found out, where those lyrics came from. They owe, whomever composed that song, some mayor royalties...
WOW! So, this was the inpiration for the song Che Che Cole, of Willie Colón, and Hector Lavoe, Never knew, this was something African people sang. Amazing!
It's a Ghanaian song I believe it's the Twi language it's really supposed to be spelled "kye" . I don't think Lesotho kids sing it because that's in Southern Africa and Ghana is in West Africa with no linguistic or cultural connection.
