Sad fun fact: This scandal was the reason why idols were not allowed to have personal social media accounts until very reccently. Fans will look into any little thing online, especially things idols post themselves. But they were managed by BigHit.
That aside, they were a nugu group back then, I would take a bigger group as example even if not necessarily in the Big 3/4.
Also, most idols who indeed had an account closed it before/in about 2013. Which is around the time the scandal happened. I wasn’t present in 2th generation but I figured it out as I always see in pre half 3th generation’s idols Kprofiles that they had a Twitter account but deactivated it in the early 2010s.
Most idols who are allowed to open personal accounts are already quite successful/stable and only a few are allowed to open it before 5 or 7 years in the industry. I also suspect that they aren’t allowed to open a Twitter account because 1)Groups’ accounts already do the job if not Weverse/Bubble/Universe etc; 2)Instagram,Weibo,Little Red Book,Tiktok,Douyin are much safer and yet give freedom to the idol as long as they pay attention. They also would be allowed to limit or deactivate comments/replies and they wouldn’t risk to read unwanted things like “Their name-scandal” trending and mean tweets in the platform even if not in their account.

I don't think many people, even folks who were K-Pop fans back then, can fathom the magnitude of this scandal. I'm someone who cares about numbers so these facts have always stuck with me. T-ARA were the most popular group at that time, surpassing even the established groups from Big 3, they were standing at the very top and preparing to reach new heights. And everything was ruined because their disgusting CEO tried to play mind games with the members and allowed this damn sociopath in the group. If you want a "tragedy script" this is it.

I experienced this whole dilemma back then and let me tell you it was a disaster. T-ARA went from extremely popular, enormous sales and even being strong competition for SNSD to the most hated girl group. And they still worked hard and released music and performed. I have always believed that they weren‘t at fault, but I also never thought that Hwayoung and her sister would ever go that far to ruin T-ARA. but this is why nowadays I am even more careful about what to believe in terms of bullying and rude behavior rumors. AND YOU SHOULD TOO. there have been cases that happened even in 4th generation where the evidence or statements were quite questionable and STILL the victims won in a way because they ruined someone’s career based on alleged things that can neither be confirmed nor denied. the fact that also many companies let their artists down and kick them out of their contracts to prevent a whole group from suffering a downfall like T-ARA. and I think this is exactly why, apart from the general public’s view on this matter, many idols have to have either a long hiatus or actually leave instead of the artist and company fighting against xyz in court.

T-ARA and SNSD were the 2 popular girl groups I followed the most at the time. When T-ARA was struck with their scandal, they kept quiet for years. When SNSD was struck with their scandal, they also kept quiet for years. Even when the Fans turned their backs on T-ARA, SNSD was one of the few to stay friends with them and keep supporting them. They stayed close to each other, while everyone was calling them backstabbers, bullies, snakes, (sound familiar?) etc. Hwayoung wouldnt stop talking and got her Sister involved (sound familiar?). Eventually former Staff Members came forward and provided evidence that supported Hwayoung's was wrong (sound familiar?), and slowly Public perception turned, and the "victim" became the "antagonist" (sound familiar?). Even to this day, T-ARA has not talked about Hwayoung. Even when their names were cleared, they refused to talk about Hwayoung. SNSD has still not talked about Jessica. The safe way to defend yourself is to say nothing, and let the other party incriminate themselves. I hated seeing T-ARA and SNSD suffer, and it made me quit Kpop for years, up until recently.

This story is complicated because she was a new member and the other members of T-ARA ignored her on TV shows (like said in the video) or posted mean tweets. But they never told netizens why. So naturally people thought they were mean bc she was a new member. She never showed she was mean to them but they were showing they didn't like her. You see the problem? It is really complicated to "investigate" like you said when people don't know what's going on behind the scenes. People are judging based on what they see. I've been a Kpop fan since 2010/2011 but I wasn't really a Queen (their fans), just a casual listener. When I heard about this issue, I started to listen lesser to their songs (because it was a BIG BIG MESS back then, and I'm immature for judging too early), and it was my fault for not knowing all the details. It's also a learning for me not to jump in any conclusions without knowing the whole story.
Them winning on a music show for their "What's My Name?" comeback after SO MANY YEARS really got me. Try searching for their win, and you'll see even the other idols and fans are celebrating and cheering for them. I also got teary-eyed watching them.
One lie, and T-ara was ruined. I thought this was, like, a lesson for people. Sadly, it wasn't. It even happened to Garam and Soojin (they are the ones I know are innocent). People are so quick to judge and "cancel" idols without knowing the full story, it's actually disgusting. One thing from me: Unless I know all the deets, I won't judge. First, I'm not in any position to judge. Second, I don't want to be a part of the reason why a person would lose their reputation.
P.S. It still doesn't sit right with me that they haven't apologize, even as a joke or whatever. Haven't addressed the issue, knowing that they ruined the group. How immature and how rude.

Yes, although we were young and immature back then for judging T-ARA, we were also manipulated by Hwayoung and the media. Luckily I didn't go all the way to harass them back then, I just engaged less with their contents. However, I also feel very cheated when the Hwayoung's truth came out because I thought I stuck up with the victim, turned out I was manipulated by the "victim" herself. Same goes to the AOA Allegation. I didn't hate Jimin because I was more mature and I actually enjoyed AOA in the Queendom.
The one person that needs to be in prison for defamation right now is the one who creates the allegation. They know how to utilise the hate bandwagon and cancel culture to their benefits. Justice for T-ARA, Jimin, Garam, Soojin. Soojin's hurt the most because I love G-idle and I feel robbed from witnessing Soojin in Nxde era. She would've killed this era.

Hwayoung didn't "ruin" T-ara. Their management did along with all the assholes on the internet who jumped on the bandwagon without knowing all the facts. They are the major bullies. The fake videos, the skewing of the facts, the harassment, the making shit up to support their version of "facts" - they are the ones who "ruined" T-ara.
Hwayoung and the rest of the group had the right to be upset with each other. The other members had the right to be upset with Hwayoung for skipping out on rehearsals. The management should've gotten them into mediation but instead they allowed everything to be released to the public who went wild, holding a kangaroo court and convicting the members for nothing.

The thing is because Jiyeon has a very straightforward and strong personality that she has no qualms calling hwayoung out. Maybe Knetz have a thing for the underdog and Hwayoung knows how to act like a victim. She always acted like the Diva of the group even when Jiyeon is the prettiest.
PS. That’s the thing for a lot of kpop groups. The visual gets pushed by the company front and center so they have a tendency to get conceited because they get most of the projects, lines, etc. Some visuals don’t change their personality but can’t do anything about it but others let their “bankability” get in their head and even disrespect their seniors.
In T-ARAs case it was Jiyeon and Eunjung that had more projects outside of their singing career but they still do their best vs Hwayoung who acted like the victim and wanted all the attention on her.

lack of empathy to other, impulsive, attempting to control other with threats or aggressions, no remorse for their wrong doing, the clear signs is they tend to be hard to blend into new environment.
if you find a new person hard to blend into a group or work groups, usually they are a sociopath, because their lack of empathy and keep attempting to control others makes them hard to following new rules, new habits, new vibes, and they hate to adjusting them self to others.
