There are quite a fee not mentioned in for the boy idols. Korea got s long way to for anybody to be able to heal well and be treated with care and space after such events and rightful justice. I remember Jackson Wang, walking green flag that he is, noticed the situation with Irene and San-e and intervened at one point, placing himself bodily between the two when San-e was invading her personal space and Irene was visibly uncomfortable. While there are certainly predatory male idols, there are also true gentlemen out there, like Jackson. Unfortunately, the reality of this kind of power dynamic is across all cultures. You hear the same kind of stories in the US in Hollywood. It is dangerous to be a young woman -- even a child! -- in these industries.
@@themoshpit8341 I haven't followed them but it doesn't surprise me! All of Stray Kids are good people, too. There are definitely groups like that out there.
Justin Beiber, its also dangerous to be a male. Why are Westerners always trying to divide Asians when their Western industries are no better. Maybe this channel would like to make a long video about how Beiber has been SAd by men in the industry and taken advantage of since he was a CHILD.
we don't know any of these members personally -- we can't just assume they're "true gentlemen" behind the scene, not got7 not skz not bts... it's literally against the point of this video
What pisses me off more is when some kpop fans think that their idols would never do something sinister. "My idol would never!" "_ is not like this." You do NOT know these men. definitely the worst part of the industry are the fans, giving all of us a bad rep. Not to generalize, but it feels like the korean fans are particularly awful to the idols, and its extra visible to the idols because its their native language. At the end of the day, we fans should be more casual, and care only about the music, not the person. That's kinda the attitude we have with western artists(less so these days) Very sad

People saying it and seeing it for decades. We all know the story of Marilyn Monroe , judy garland, etc. But men and corruption seem to rule the industry and the world. Women have to care for each other and protect ourselves.
11yr old girl and 23 yr grown ass man ? Wtf ? We see cases of grown women getting harrassed or beaten by men in relationships how can a child withstand them ?
I had a few female classmates aged 12/13 who were dating 23/24-year-old guys. Even though I was very young at the time, I always wondered if their parents knew what their children were doing. This is way more common than we think, as there are many neglectful parents. So many pedos prey on neglected children. The 10-year age gap is not a big deal when both people are over 18, but dating minors is disgusting. 11-year-olds are not even teens yet...it's awful how twisted some people are.
A lot of times girls 11 - 14 have bodies of grown women even though they still have a child's mind so you can still see how a male idol might try to go for them

@PrahalladGantayat-mx6ju An 11-year-old is a child they shouldn't be dating in the first place, let alone dating people in their 20s. How could they feel like flirting with a child is cute? I wonder what these people do in private if that's what they do on camera.
Not just idols but girls and women in general in South Korea are held to incredibly high and unfair standards, by men, and at the same time are still treated like garbage
Korea is going through a extreme incel movement and violence against women movement that is even getting noticed worldwide. Its BAD in Korea right now for women
I lived in Korea as a foreigner. I was underweight while I was there and still often told I was fat by random people. It didn't help my ED and MI. It's brutal over there.
The fact that Zico still has a career after being involved in the burning sun scandal, made racist comments, made homophobic comments, while Hyuna has her career ended for dating someone who's involved in the burning sun scandal shows how crazy this double standard is.
I’m actually disappointed in Zico. I thought he was an nice guy and cool but hearing this…..I don’t know anymore. And the fact that I wanted to be a soloist under KOZ entertainment where he made BOYnextdoor, it’s just…..disappointing. What’s wrong with idols these days? 😢
Yes, there are many male idols who have done many horrible things, but they somehow always manage to get away with them. For female idols one wrong action is enough to receive bandwagon hate by everyone.
Don't judge a book by its cover. STOP treating male idols like they're always innocent (female idols too) because we don't know what's going on off camera. Stuff like this can develop trust issues among kpop idols in general. Don't even think everything's okay everyday in the that industry
Behind the scenes a lot of the female idols are actually friends with the male idols but the fans make it weird with toxic jealousy and shipping of them. And it's quite a shady industry in kpop where the women are criticized and scrutinized more the men, such is the double standards
This is all very true, but then you have cases like Super Junior - and I'm saying this as a person whose entry into kpop was them, I was an ELF and saw them live - where these male idols are literally 'calling dibs' on minor girls debuting, send gross phone messages etc. Heechul used to be horrid to Sulli in the training room, Eeteuk is known infamously within the industry etc. And it's not exclusive to them or SM. It's a mess.
Honestly I have disconnected myself from this Kpop world way back and I am very happy about it. The songs are being average, idols are being arrogant. Netizens targeting the shit out of them making their life miserable thankfully I am out of this delusional world.
It’s because they don’t feel safe. Misogyny is so rampant in the industry and country. Female idols get exploited constantly and they know that staying away from men is the best way to stay safe. The problem with a lot of male idols is the fact that they have so many adoring female fans cheering them on and it gets to their head. Eventually they feel like they can have any girl they want and that develops into them believing they are entitled to any girl they want, which is when they can get more predatory. Again this obviously isn’t all male idols, but it’s enough for it to be a serious problem. Please just remember that you never know what an idol is truly like behind closed doors.
@@AureoleWebweaver it’s literally just a fact that’s been seen time and time again. Just take a look at the statistics and if you still can’t accept that women, especially female idols, have good reason to be cautious around men, you’re part of the problem. I’m not saying it’s every man, but it’s enough men to make it a very legitimate concern.
The thing with irene is actually because she is a female idol with male fans so when she read something about feminism her male fans felt offended While RM has female fans who obviously liked the idea of their fav supporting their rights But yeah the double standards towards female idols is there and its sad cuz thats how it it in every industry
Correct, plus female reveluvs (red velvet fandom) went full roge defending Irene from those creeps, korean and international reveluvs mock them, hahahaha You paid for your photocard and now burn it, perfect loser leave the fandom, Irene has way more femele idols either way, we don't need You... leave LEAVE the fandom....the backlash was so hard some even apologied lol
How can a group of people get worked up over a book that represents feminism? It not only disrespects her right as a woman, but it dismantles her trust in men. If they really devoted themselves to Irene, the guys could try to lean to her level and read a few pages of said book. I mean, IT. IS. JUST. A. BOOK! A BOOK!!!
Summary of what u did: Thinking that whatever the men don't want, is a law that should never be crossed, eventhough it's just a book It's human right to like certain things, u don't need permission And what about JK, and V, do they get a pass, because fans like the fact that they are smokers "that's how it is in every industry" do u realized how dismissive this sentence was, everytime a women is a victim Is being a fan, your whole identity? U seem too good in backstabbing while protecting ur idols.
and this is just to stuff that's visible to us. i can't even imagine what goes on behind the scenes. how many awful things have companies covered up? i love kpop, i love idols, but good lord something needs to change. companies need to do more to protect their female idols period
I don't hate her but i won't support her either. One thing is breaking up with Dawn. Sometimes it happens but another thing is to date and even inform about thinking about marrying a guy who literally was in the chatrooms, knew what's going on and didn't inform the police. That will make you lose respect of your fans.
While he should certainly receive more backlash, she also doesn't deserve to be followed if she's happily with someone who did those disgusting things. His actions evidently don't bother her, so while she hasn't committed them, she supports them.
She is a horrible human being, she forcé her them nugu noobie Idol bf risk everything cuz she decided to make the relationship public in the most important moment for him and pentágono, almost as if she wanted to sabotage his chances so he wouldnt be that famous ...she was the sunbae with a decade in the industry , she knew that would destroy his opportunity and now he new fans we're hyuna fans, he was label hyuna bf so much Even im the new company .....only for her to refuse to marry and choose a dude that watched videos being raped ....she deserve all the hate.... All of it
to that, she is the soloist who had the bigger career, and he was an ex member of a relatively non-active boy group that changed their name, so people go for the bigger name. but the fact that people bandwagoned on to the hate and barely mention him is ridiculous. if her fans are disappointed, that’s one thing, but if you can barely name one song by her and only know her because of her spotlight from all the stuff with her past relationships, you really just want to use a girl as a punching bag. it’s probably the same people who actively hate on blackpink and whoever is the biggest IT girl of the moment. those people aren’t kpop fans, they just hate successful women because of a lot of ingrained misogyny.
I can't believe people are surprised that the Kpop idol is misogynistic when south Korea is currently one of the country with the most misogyny in the world.
I mean, for the Irene and RM book, it would be a kind reminder that both idols have a completely different fandom demographic 🤔you won't see Irene middle-aged korean male "fans" go after RM for the same thing.
exactly. the biggest problem is that the people commenting on all this are usually two different groups, with some overlap. irene and all of red velvet got hate from men whenever feminism was brought up, because red velvet have a big male fandom, especially irene herself. compare most of her criticisms to the support seulgi gets for something like having a no make up look or being friends with a male idol like got7’s bambam, when she has a larger female fanbase. or look at how a lot of female groups with receive criticism from fans of other female groups because the lifespan of girl groups is so dependent on appeal to the general public, resulting in massive amounts of girl on girl hate. the problems are not solely with a double standard, although one exists in the society itself, but the real issue involves girl groups being marketed for the general public vs boy groups being marketed towards a fanbase. a fanbase is solid and will defend an artist against criticism and general public gives and takes it’s favor day to day. and when a group is marketed to the general public, mainly s. korea, they are going to face the dark side of their societies double standard towards women, from behavior to appearance. to change this, girl groups need a fandom, and a strong one at that, which will stop a company from forcing an idol to change to please the public, as they will no longer need the gp for financial support, and to reshape what is acceptable to comment about female idols. as much as boy group stans can be annoying, you have to admit that those with a strong fandom, or a bigger international fandom, are always the ones being used in these comparisons videos and showing that criticism of them is often drowned out by praise. a good example of how this works would be hwasa. she got official complaints launched about her choreography at one of the university festivals, a society issue, but she also got massive support because her fanbase was built on people who want to support hwasa, not just riding on the success of a single mass appeal comeback. strong fanbases for women, usually by women, is a far more effective solution than constantly complaining about the double standard. take the power away from those 40 yo men to dictate what women can or can’t speak about and give it to the people who will actually support the artist.
actually most of these "double standards" are caused because of different groups of fans, female idols have both male and female idols, where some female fans can get really judgemental, and some male fans can get really creepy, on the other hand, most male groups have mostly female fangirls, that would usually justify absolutely everything they do, this video is honestly taking some facts out of context to fit a narrative, not to say that is easy to be a woman in te industry, or negate that most fans have very idiotic opinions and standards, but this video clearly omitting certain relevant facts that help to understand part of the problems with the korean idol culture, and its in favor of giving a message with a biased narrative. without the intent to criticize, rather to give an example, NJ is a group that has achieved a more loyal fan base than other GGs, receiving a lot of justification from their fans in every controversy that has come out, far from being as attacked as other groups, in fact, I personally have not seen a single complaint about the weight of the members, not to say that any of them have gained weight or are overweight, but if people were as critical as the video presents, at least one would have been attacked for looking less skinny than expected. On the other hand, the video takes BTS as an example of male idols who are forgiven for everything, they being possibly the most famous, recognized and loved kpop group by their fans, that is too convenient for the narrative of the video, besides, now with the recent Suga controversy, he has been judged no less harshly than any female counterparts in these cases, of course, maybe his fans are defending him more than others, but he has received his fair share of criticism despite being a man.
Is being a kpop idol really worth all this abuse, toxicity, anxiety, and stress?? I'm seriously asking. I think this is why I can't really get into kpop, I keep hearing more bad things about it than good.
A girl on tiktok said that biy groups are nolonger lucrative in SK and boy groups are no longer put together as much as it was because investors are afraid the boys might later be involved in sexual scandals. And since its a very patriarchal society so. It really gets you thinking.
That also has to do with a lot of trends. Teenage girls used to be all over boy groups, they no longer are. I'd say boy groups were having a downward trend before most of these scandals even happened. While they were still popular, they had reached a plateau and with a group like BTS becoming less active, that had a massive impact on boy groups overall. There's also the feminist movement which disproportionately favor women, largely because it's primarily composed of women. That in turn causes an upward trend for girl groups and particularly those who are perceived to promote such ideas. So the scandals are honestly pretty minor in terms of the popularity loss. I also want to point out that investors only care about their money and there were scandals before which did not even make them budge. I think this has more to do with how lucrative the industry is as a whole, or lack thereof. They don't get a return on their investments and that's why they don't invest as much. Similar trends can be seen in other industries such as the game industry and IT as a whole. It's honestly just a matter of time before the economy just implodes.
@@CottidaeSEA well explained but don't you think that sexual scandals being expected with boy groups is also an issue? Genuine question. Cause there are so many sexual harassment cases in SK regardless of the entertainment industry. But if one is a celebrity then they might not be able to get away with it?
@@dowini Those scandals are obviously a consideration, but I don't think it's as big as it is made out to be. Out of all groups, there are only a few with such scandals. I do think it's something that will force the industry to change a bit though, hopefully for the better. It's hard to tell beforehand. Becoming more restrictive can ironically cause those issues to get worse. I also want to point out that the victims should report the crimes far more quickly to not let the culprits do it to more people. That is something which needs to get better at a global scale.
@@CottidaeSEA Teenage girls have always been into boygroups, just look at the western history of boybands. It has nothing to do with it not being trendy whatsoever.
@@inferiorinferno8859 Okay, so if something is enjoyed by 200 million people and then drops to 100 million, that's still loads of people, but wouldn't you say that's a downward trend? Sorry, but that's just an ignorant statement.
Patriarchy is everywhere… no surprises here!! Also, patriarchy is deeply entrenched in the Korean society, so it’s not really a surprise that the K-pop industry reflects the same.

Super Junior members are incels… calling “dibs” on female idols is gross. 🤢 I remember Shindong once said that women shouldn’t be fat because it’s “irresponsible” or whatever, but he himself is on the bigger side… 🤦🏻♀️ Also, I feel so bad for Irene. @@bingybingy2592 Yes, they do compliment her looks, but the female idols aren’t openly hitting on Irene like the male ones are… they don’t invade her personal space and make her feel uncomfortable. 🤷🏻♀️
Not every Super Junior member is like that. I never heard Yesung, Donghae, Ryeowook or Heechul do anything like that. It is mostly Shindong and Leeteuk who make weird remarks on girls. Siwon is also strange and liked homophobic tweets, but have not seen him do anything bad to girls.
@@vixxexo6855actually ryewook did, I saw a clip of him saying he wanted to marry Krystal when she was still a kid and he was much older, because he said a fortune teller told him he should marry someone from 1994, even though at that time it was child’s age.
Super Junior members are problematic towards junior female idols when it comes to body shaming them. Like Leeteuk once said “I don’t like fat girls because I don’t think they take care of their bodies very well.” or Shindong rudely said, “If someone needs to lose weight, I would tell them to lose weight.”
I rmb when shindong said that and I basically stopped being an ELF lol. His hypocritical ass can stfu. The saying 'not all men but always men' crosses borders and cultures, even more so in Asian countries where the patriarchy is disgustingly strong.

Super Junior's fans are vicious, too. Despite half their members being extremely problematic (what's mentioned in the video is the tip of the iceberg), they always claim everything was a joke, mistranslated, out-of-context, etc. It's sick. And one of the normal members (Sungmin), got unofficially kicked out of the group by them for getting married. They claim he didn't tell them properly, like he owed them that? That was TEN YEARS AGO. Somehow those fans cannot grow up and mature, and still have the same maturity level as when Super Junior first debuted nearly 20 years ago.
Can we talk about how some male fans of girl groups are extremely misogynistic towards other groups? For them, stanning a girl group makes them feminist, while they insult and body-shame other girl groups. Such behavior has become all too common among K-pop fans. We need to learn to respect all girl groups. Additionally, there are many group chats being exposed where fans make rape jokes about male and female idols from other groups. I’ve seen one involving BTS members and ITZY. In those chats, the male fans are from fandoms like BLACKPINK and aespa. Instead of calling them out, the female counterparts in their fandom are often supporting them with likes and retweets. It's so pathetic. They also make misogynistic jokes about boy group stans who mainly consist of females
Netizens hate women , blame women even when its not their fault . I hate double standards not just k pop idols but regularl male and female face this 😢😢
Half korean here! All my life i fly through sk and my another country. My mom is friends with two 2nd gen idols,One guy one girl. The guy and girl are/were in the same company and apparently their company would hang a list of weight of female idols and trainees for everyone to see, but for male idols? None. They also give Younger female idols more revealing clothes to attract creeps. The female friend of my mom debuted at 14 so you can see how bad this is. I myself also have friends who are trainees at big companies, some had to quit tho to almost dying from the horrible diets.
Ur talking abt CUBE ent arent u? 👀🤔 Its so sad they have to go extreme and they dont get the fact that everyone has a different body type and u should accept it... That is definitely creepy forcing younger girls to wear revealing clothes
@Liah_17 Yes actually. And she (my mom's friend who I can't say who she is but she was cancelled) Said every time her elder member stry to tell the stylists to give her more covering clothes, The staff would just yell at them.
That's the thing, NO one knows these entertainers in real life. They, specially male entertainers, put on a facade, and women sadly fall for it every single time. We all fall for that cute, innocent, playful, nice guy image. I am NOT saying all of them are misogynistic at all. What I am purely saying to women, specially young girls, to have a healrhy dose of skepticism. Not everything is what is seems at times. As the saying goes, what is done in the dark it eventually comes to light sooner or later.
K-pop is supposed to be fun Free and loved but now kpop is turning into the opposite I wish idols would realize that haters have no right to tell idols what to do , what to wear or what to eat I also blame this kpop companies I wish they would see the evil true side😢😢💔💔
Even as a guy, something about guys getting or trying to get with women significantly younger that them distrubs me to my core. I have always been against several age gaps and the older people trying to take advantage of the younger counterpart.
We also need to take into account these male idols are MEN FROM KOREA before idols. The patriarchal and sexist upbringing and surroundings have and effect on their behavior, its logical (which doesn't justify it, it only explains it). So don't think your faves are all angels and start thinking what video/meme/funny moment you've seen is actually a little bit weird. You'll see there are plenty.
I dont stan any GGs. But i follow a few BGs and I honestly don't like the nudity or when they act like magic Mike on stage or MVs. I have only ever supported girl groups, I just prefer them and always will. I am so upset however at the fact that they are always the first to blame in situations it’s not fair. The double standards in the K-pop industry are crazy, and the fact that female idols always get the worst of it really sucks. I am glad you shed some light on this topic because I have noticed this for quite a while!
You forgot this video when Goo Hará was still a minor, she was filming with Super Junior Yesung, and another guy, I think his name is woo young? . The guy gave his business card of his bar to (at the time a minor) Hara and Yesung was trying to avoid it. Then when he left Yesung asked Hara to show him the business card and he tear it apart. Sometime later, I think that same year, the guy was found guilty for SA many minors. So, these guys do their nasty thing just even in there's cameras. They don't give a F.
The first topic is so true the girls get so much hate for acting their age and trying to spice things up and get hated on by everyone and parents cause I guess the parents can’t raise their own kids while male idols who also haveyoung fans can go and act like they are hunching the ground , take off their shirts, lick their lips and do more sexual things on stage and it’s oh oopa I love you or I love him I wish he was mine …. I’ve talked about this time and time with people still trying to argue with me like I’m wrong and their favorite line is “he also got hate for that too” …clearly not as much as the female idol did these people will go to the end of the world to make it seem like these female idols that do mature concepts and spice things up instead of being boring are sl!Ts cause if these female idols were to act cute at their grown age like yall have before yall would call them cringy good ex. Lisa whenever she acts cute she’s cringey whenever she acts her age or does mature concepts or mature and spicy things she’s a Sl!T like make up your minds these people don’t know how they want these girls to act and that’s exactly why you see more and more kpop idols don’t gaf about how you guys feel anymore and are doing them good ex. Jessi and hwasa and unfortunately saying her hyuna (her relationship is a different story) and the black pink girls but more so Lisa especially after crazy horse people were ready with the videos and the comments calling her everything and that didn’t faze her once she still posted her pictures and still had support and her haters were still watching her angry …like these female idols can’t get a break and I don’t see male idols getting as much hate as them period not saying they don’t but it don’t be as bad as the female idols I rarely see 🤢🤢🤢 under male idols instagrams but I bet you I can see that under a lot of female idols instagrams like these girls get hated on for anything and everything .
Back when I was a kid I used to think that Kpop world was like a fairytale place, now I woke up to the harsh reality realizing that it’s just one big sick industry.. I’ve stopped following so much of their content, now I only listen to music watch occasionally some variety shows of 1 or 2 of my favorite bands and move the f*ck on.. that sh*t wasn’t healthy in the first anyway, for my own wellbeing making this decision is a better alternative not to get too much into this Kpop world bcz it’s 90% fake.
just like what taylor swift said before. we can't deny the fact that in this society men are most favorable dont need to put a lot of effort than women who need to do her best beyond 100% to show what she can do. so sad.
You are wrong about RM's case. He is one of the very few male idols who has received extreme hate from anti-feminist sites among knetizens. Those who praised him are ARMYs. K-pop stans made fun of him when he recommended that book and mentioned in an interview that he had a discussion with a feminist professor, as he was raised in a misogynistic society
Yah but that hate was negligible in front of what Irene faced also I do remember that a lot of fans especially females from various fandoms praised him for his progressiveness
@@Just_basicwannabeY.N Female fans praised Irene too. The difference is that Red Velvet has a large male fanbase, who couldn't bear to see her read something they didn't like. That's where all the backlash and hate came from. They need a fandom cleanse ASAP.
@@Just_basicwannabeY.N Red Velvet fans consist of males, and some of these Korean males are so misogynistic that they tear up her photocards. In contrast, Korean ARMYs, who are mostly female, have been very supportive of RM for openly endorsing feminism. However, some Korean men have added RM, Irene, and Suzy's names to anti-feminist sites and criticized them. The majority of international K-pop stans have mocked RM; they continue to make fun of him for engaging with a feminist professor, despite him stating that he was not aware of feminist movements. It’s worth noting that RM receives hate from K-pop stans even when he speaks about his mental health🙂 so yeah this double standards doesn't really works with bts members
the issue here is that ggs have a male-dominated base that have unrealistic expectations especially in a country like korea where the beauty standards are harsh and female idols must fit them. Secondly lack of equal rights for women in korea affects this too cause they just expect women to be prim and proper 24/7.
RM did face backlash for reading “Kim Jiyong, Born 1982.” Also, Jimin faced a lot of hate when he gained a little weight. This isn’t to say that women don’t face terrible things, but the idol industry needs a whole new way.
Let me tell you something. Im waiting for the next big scandal to involve fans next time. I used to be in the fandom of a lesser known male idol and let me tell you, his friends kept reaching out to one of the fans who was a Muslim girl. It was really suspicious. They seem to be honing into the most vulnerable looking girls. I left that fansom, I don't wanna talk about it, but I think this topic is not going to go away. It's gonna get worse.
I know, right? When the actress Kim Saeron was involved in a dui case, nobody supported her, even though she took full responsibility. She still can't get any job even now. But when Suga was involved in a dui case, celebrities boldly expressed their support for him. And I am sure he will be able to get to work whenever he wants.
It is very simple. You must portray a woman as your equal. She is the treasure of yours and your children or future children. If you do not respect a woman then you are not respecting your own mother and sister(s) and all the women in all your family.
This is universal, especially in the entertainment industry, not just K-pop. Most males if not all of them can't control their male instinct, once they see a beautiful naked woman they can't see her as a soul, a personality... All they see is a body and how to get their hands on it. That's why women should give more credit to themselves and follow the guidance of ALLAH (God) our creator, whose commands are to protect her and make her very valuable.
For me, the most brutal part is when other women do these things to female idols and yeah I know the patriarchy is a toxic fume we all inhale, but I find it shocking regardless.
Yeah men and women are mostly equally sexist towards women it's so sad and frustrating. You know this all awareness EVERYWHERE about these kind of things doesn't seem to have an impact on society . The change is insignificant it's so frustrating why does being a female so hard and when your own gender doesn't support you is so sad
After hearing my friends experiences in Korea, I actually will never go there, I was planning to go there for fun but not anymore, I’m disgusted by their ‘culture’ (they use that word as an excuse for immoral behaviour)!
The fact that Irene was just reading a book and got dragged for it, yet when RM read it, hes "woke" I swear, the double standards in Kpop is crazy, but the hard stans and fandoms is insane.
People need to be careful of treating every male idol with suspicion. You may as well treat everyone you know personally the same way. How many times have teachers, police officers, religious officials, relatives etc... turned out not be who even their closest friends thought.
3:07 I'd like to disagree about this one. We're not gonna ignore Jimin fainting during practice cause he was starving himself to lose weight, thanks to hate comments, him getting death threats. And how he's not the only male idol to go through it. Yes, it's harsher to female idols, but male idols don't get a pass either.
Sunoo got criticized for being fat, when he acted girly they criticized him, when he act manly they criticized him. as a person who stan sunoo its honestly heart breaking.😢
Yeah it's true everyonebate female idols whatever they do but namjoon also got hate about culture thing but I agree female idols get alot of hate for no reason.
finally someone talked about hyuna, these BGs stans let their idols be friends of seungri for YEARS and no word about it, but if hyuna do what she wants, SHAME ON HER.
what is funny is the fact that it's the female fans that tear up female idols for being provocative and those same female fans celebrate male idols for being provocative.
This make me think about what would happen to NewJeans girls without a female protection, I think they claim for Min Hee Jin is more than just a cry for their producer. That's something that is passing under the radar.
The fact most of the female idols who have to face this are sm artists just says a lot about the company and how sm doesnt care enough to protect then.

This is diabolical and outrageous. I feel bad for women especially for the weight gain - remember when Jeongyeon started to gain weight? the backlash from that was crazy.
3:00 idk really know about that. Shindong is an exception with his heavier Figur and he was never one of the more popular members. Male idols also receive criticism for gaining weight. The only exception is when the male idol gains more muscles and therefore has a broader look which is always praised. In conclusion: yes female idols are often faster judged for their Figur and appearance, but this is often also the result of wearing more revealing clothes on stage (which of course isn’t the idols fault). Male idols are also judged for their figures but can hide it better with longer stage outfits and broad appearance that often symbolizes muscles rather than fat.

That will make you lose respect of your fans.
While he should certainly receive more backlash, she also doesn't deserve to be followed if she's happily with someone who did those disgusting things. His actions evidently don't bother her, so while she hasn't committed them, she supports them.

to that, she is the soloist who had the bigger career, and he was an ex member of a relatively non-active boy group that changed their name, so people go for the bigger name. but the fact that people bandwagoned on to the hate and barely mention him is ridiculous. if her fans are disappointed, that’s one thing, but if you can barely name one song by her and only know her because of her spotlight from all the stuff with her past relationships, you really just want to use a girl as a punching bag. it’s probably the same people who actively hate on blackpink and whoever is the biggest IT girl of the moment. those people aren’t kpop fans, they just hate successful women because of a lot of ingrained misogyny.
Probably because no one expects anything from him, and Hyuna had a very large female fan base that looked up to her.
Many kpop idols have talked about why they became kpop idols and it was to support their family financially, it's very sad
I don’t even think it’s only K-pop idols even normal company jobs they see women as objects
Yeah fr being a idol seems really depressing

Female idols? Let's say that it is hard to be female in S. Korea in general.
Females in SK can stick it to the men by fighting on the frontlines when NK invades.

Patriarchy is everywhere… no surprises here!! Also, patriarchy is deeply entrenched in the Korean society, so it’s not really a surprise that the K-pop industry reflects the same.
Define patriarchy, specially in a country where draft and military service are an obligation for men while women can choose. And please tell me how is beneficial for men to be drafted , since you'll probably su Patriarchy is sending men to the front because they see women as weak. so you don't think is a privilege to not go to war? Where are the feminist protesting for the army to draft women too ????
Women of that age are expected to have the children Einstein....low birth rates are in the media everywhere in South Korea so you want the women to be drafted too who will give birth and raise the children when most women need to have kids before their 30s for it to be more safer...can't have it both ways mate @@kant.68
So many male celebs openly hit on her. Whenever she was on a variety show, her fellow male cast members would be constantly making comments on her looks while she’s just standing there 😅 I mean, she’s super pretty, but it’s still so weird
Women cast members also comment on her beauty too same for Karina, even ordinary people comment on their beauty it's not weird at all.
How do you know that they're incels?
Like Leeteuk once said “I don’t like fat girls because I don’t think they take care of their bodies very well.” or Shindong rudely said, “If someone needs to lose weight, I would tell them to lose weight.”
it made such a issues
LOL what the hell is wrong with that? If someone is obese then they clearly aren't taking care of their bodies.
I rmb when shindong said that and I basically stopped being an ELF lol. His hypocritical ass can stfu. The saying 'not all men but always men' crosses borders and cultures, even more so in Asian countries where the patriarchy is disgustingly strong.
Korean people are like that in general. If you look fat they'll just say "You should lose weight"

Like some fans believe just because they stan a girlgroup then they are feminists.

Its so sad they have to go extreme and they dont get the fact that everyone has a different body type and u should accept it...

That's the thing, NO one knows these entertainers in real life. They, specially male entertainers, put on a facade, and women sadly fall for it every single time. We all fall for that cute, innocent, playful, nice guy image. I am NOT saying all of them are misogynistic at all. @@destineybailey6890 I'm DEFINITELY not defending her (it was way more than a mistake, I think I glossed that over too much) and you're totally right - I just think she's gotten more attention for this than people who deserve just a little bit of it, ya know?
@@Tragically_Obsessed yea i would agree but people still hate him it just not as much in this situation because the hate is a stagnant level with him and it peaked was when the burning sun was exposed and the years after but many people moved on and forgot. What im trying to say is the hate didn't go down for him it just Hyuna a adult who was friends with Go Hara should have never done this.
I need everyone to remember that most of the hate going to female idols is coming from other females.

just like what taylor swift said before. we can't deny the fact that in this society men are most favorable dont need to put a lot of effort than women who need to do her best beyond 100% to show what she can do.
@@Just_basicwannabeY.N Red Velvet fans consist of males, and some of these Korean males are so misogynistic that they tear up her photocards. the issue here is that ggs have a male-dominated base that have unrealistic expectations especially in a country like korea where the beauty standards are harsh and female idols must fit them.

😂😂 feminism in Korea is radical bullshit, is even worse than in USA, and USA is fucked up because because of this ideology
I mean I don’t blame them, some can be a bunch of creeps no offense
Exactly, but then again some female idols can be bitchy as hell
My goodness and I thought American Hollywood was bad. Damn
Knetz are on different level bullsh!t😂😂😂
For me, the most brutal part is when other women do these things to female idols and yeah I know the patriarchy is a toxic fume we all inhale, but I find it shocking regardless.

uh oh u said double standards. kpop gatekeepers are gonna be angry and complain that u dont understand its their culture.
