    First of all, great review! 👍 The i30 N Performance is definitely a serious competitor for the Golf 8 GTI. With an 8-speed DCT, an i30 N Performance costs €39,960. A Golf 8 GTI with DSG starts around €40.390 - with the standard GTI equipment/interior. I configured an i30 N Performance purely for interest and added all the selectable options and ended up with a price of 43,760€. A fully equipped Golf 8 GTI on the other hand can quickly break the 50,000€ mark. Well done Hyundai.

      I bought an i30 1.4 T-GDi earlier this year for just under €18,000 (mileage was still under 20,000km). Currently, comparable models are sometimes over 20,000€. Holy shit! 😅

    The really fun thing about the i30N is that, if you want to be obnoxious and cause the car to pop like crazy, you can. But if you also just want a rough sounding engine, you can set the Exhaust to Sport (instead of Sport+) while having the Exhaust set to Sport+. It'll make the car sound really good without the crazy pops and bangs, and they also become more unpredictable.
    Of course you're limiting the power output by reducing the Engine level, but if you're inside town on a nice warm and sunny day and want to hear the engine roar without the pops, you can do it.
    The i30N is absolutely fantastic. I've had mine since July 2024 and I love every opportunity I have to grab the car and go for a ride.

    • @dragonfang8670
      @dragonfang8670 Місяць тому

      @ Hey mate. The i30N has been a dream car of mine for a while now, so my opinion might be a bit biased. I also don’t have much prior experience with cars, as I’ve only owned/own two. I purchased a brand new i30N, so I’m not expecting many issues in the reliability field yet, but having previously owned an i20 1.0 T-GDi, I know that Hyundai makes pretty reliable cars (unless you’re in the USA, that is). In terms of quality, I think it has a pretty decent interior. Not a whole lot of leather, but it’s got some nice soft touch material in most places you touch, and doesn’t really have a lot of plastics. Now, obviously it depends on what you’re used to, but my other car is a Porsche Cayman and I can tell you that, while the Porsche’s interior is more refined, the i30N really isn’t that far behind (as in, it’s not God-awful).
      For everything else regarding driving.. Man it’s just an absolute blast. The car is everything I wanted and more. It really is a fantastic car, and being quite rare (depending on where you live) is nice because you get some interested looks of other people on the road.
      Overall, it’s all I’ve ever dreamed it’d be!

      @@dragonfang8670 Thank you so much for the detailed review, honestly with the price it is you can sort of expect a bit of plastics haha, seems like the youtube reviews sort of make out the plastic to be a bit more than it actually is!
      I would definitely agree it's a more 'rare' car, I've seen maybe 5 i20n's in the span of a few years (from the standout performance blue) but I don't believe I've seen any i30n's.
      Hopefully with the fact they're discontinued and one of the best value for money hot hatches about, they won't depreciate too much. I've gone down an absolute rabbithole of Hyundai and now I'm considering searching far and wide to get my hands on a i30n N-Drive limited edition hahaha.
      Hopefully my dream will come true next year and I will be able to get my hands on one of these :)

    • @dragonfang8670
      @dragonfang8670 Місяць тому +1

      @@sh0ck738 No worries mate, happy to be helpful. Reviewers go through so many cars that I can sort of understand the “too many plastics”. The plastics the i30N (the facelift version at least) has is in the glove box, the center console where the gear knob/handbrake are (all the way to the arm rest), and the lower part of the door where the cupholders are. Everything else is soft touch, both in the front and rear doors, and all of the upper dash console. But even the plasticky bits are well built, I’ve tried shaking the center console and it doesn’t move. After 4300KM I don’t have any creaks or rattles (even when driving through some more rough roads).
      I really like Hyundai/KIA and what they’ve been in recent years. Their cars are solid and have a very competitive price. The i30N was designed by Albert Biermann himself, and truthfully everything the reviewers out there say about the car, is 100% spot on. It’s got an INCREDIBLE handling (I’d even wager I enjoy it more down a winding road than the Cayman), the exhaust sound is oh so good, and the car itself (of course, it’s subjective) looks outstandingly good. It’s not as exuberant as a Type R, but I like that, it gives it a much more sober look.
      Good luck on your hunt friend!
