The game is perfectly playable as a casual despite its complexity. You can always just deploy to a front, grab a rifle and go. Once you have done that multiple times you will slowly progress to a point where your impact, even as a solo, is being felt on the battlefield.
Yes! Local chat works perfect for coordinating with others. The more communication with chat or voice the better and more fun I have honestly. Thanks for sharing! Cheers!
When I was a new player I found joy in the small things. Scrooping, being infantry, randomly being asked to be a gunner on a tank or armored car, delivering ammo for artillery etc. When I finally joined a regiment it somehow felt less rewarding. All they told me to do was "go scroop" and that got repedetive for me real quick. Nowdays I run around and do what I feel like, sometimes im on the front joinig in an attack with granades, sometimes im scrooping and crafting supplies that I drive to the front. If im really bored waiting for supplies to be crafted i refill random trucks with gas, or give some random guy a ride in my truck 😂 or craft trucks for other casuals to use. I try to help out where I can. Even the tiniest things. My experience is that the front have a lot more social interactions and you can hear the funniest things over there, but there is always one of those salty guys so beware
I can agree with this that things feel a lot more rewarding when playing solo. You can look at big operations and big stockpiles and feel little insignificant. I think running around and doing what you feel like sounds great! Great way to play the game. Honestly I'm normally always in a regiment and still do my own thing. Being a regiment just gives me extra "quest" if I want to do some other task. 27th has been really good for Warden side and WLL was good for Colonial side if you ever think about joining a clan again. Thanks for sharing your experience!
i'm a solo (only 80 hours played...) and i think you can make the difference when you play as a medic ( those shirts take time to build and delivery, if you resurrect a player you have effectively doubled the strenght of any frontline). Also grabbing all the loot off the ground during any operation and returning it to a nearby stockpile will make a huge difference, i've seen so many players just grab a new weapon and run to the front, only to respawn 1 minute later and grab another gun, then another... also, as you mentioned, when you want to log off either be sure to be dead OR return all the gear to a nearby base, then log off!!
Definitely agree you can make a difference as a medic! I use to do a lot of battle looting. Basically when I told myself I'm going to go shoot some people on the front I would end up instead just battle looting all the whole time ha. Sounds like you play a lot like I did in my early hours of Foxhole. Thanks for sharing your input! Cheers!
How do you double the strength of the front line by healing one soldier? The soldiers not even 1% of the front line but if he was 1% and he dies, they're still 99%. Not half of the frontline.
@@grok8211 I haven't played the game yet, but as a Bf1 medic, even with one percent boost can drastically help the Frontline, as there would be no need to run back into the Frontline again
I've found that if you are playing it casually is not to go to the big frontlines but to pick a less popular area and stick with it, the smaller engagement sizes mean that you get to see your contribution much more, and you start recognizing names and making connections
I like this! I normally tell new players to pick one side of the map east or west and only play in the same like 3-4 hexes for an entire war. This gives you bit more ownership over your territory and makes you want to fight for it more. Appreciate your input and thoughts on this! Thanks for sharing!
If I only have an hour to play, I either do combat/medic on the frontline, or I build watchtowers along logi routes so drivers are safe and QRF can hunt partisans. There're probably more impactful things that can be done in that time, but I can see the difference in watchtower coverage on the map before I log off and that is fulfilling to me as a QRF main!
I like the idea of building watchtowers! I need to find our weak areas with watchtowers and do more of this. I think that would be a great use of time. Thanks for sharing! Cheers!
I have found I can feel like I am making an impact if I play defensively. People are always trying to push on both sides, but not many people seem to want to sit in a trench with the sole job of keeping the enemy from taking that trench. I might die a few times, but I can usually take out a few enemies each time and it feels good knowing that I may have helped a few other people stay alive so they can make daring pushes.
That's awesome! This is really similar to what I do when I join the front. I find one really good defensive spot and just sit and wait for the enemies to rush me. Nice work and thanks for sharing! Cheers!
if people realized how op medics are and got downed intentionally in sports they can be rescued easily from infantry would become a lot scarier, of course until a tank shows up and starts to 40mm everyone but still...
it depends on the incoming mortar fire and situation if i defend or not and what other nearby infantry is doing, if i see them start to rush i join the charge, preferably we have friendly armor nearby. i play rifleman, smg
I always had fun on a frontline that is less defined, laying traps for other skirmishers in the bushes, you can mess up a small squad if they're not expecting you
I’ve been playing casually since I brought this game. Done logi, done grunt work, even fired off some arty rounds to soften up the front. I always log off feeling a sense of accomplishment, because I know that even though I’m not in a regiment…I helped in my own way
You are playing Foxhole right it sounds like! Doing bunch of different roles is always a good way to keep this game fresh and casual. And you did help! This game is about inches and even the little task helps your faction. Thanks for sharing that!
A big key is to take a break and play other game’s to. See so many veterans with 800-900 hour’s saying the game isnt fun anymore who just need to take a break from the game for a few month’s to a year and come back to it with fresher eye’s. Playing any game for that many hour’s will burn you out of it fast.
Agreed! Sometimes I take breaks during certain times of the same war. Like I will take 2-3 days and just play TFT or read some books or something. Some of these vets are just way into the meta of everything as well I would say. I have been telling people lately just roleplay/larp this game a bit more and you will have a lot more fun. You don't have to go full roleplay but just a little. Don't be overly concerned with meta. Thanks for your thoughts on this! Appreciate it!
about two years ago i became a solo factory. i mined mats myself and just built dozens of trucks, armored cars and a few bikes in the early game. (got pissed at not remembering to assign a new spawn point and not having transport from the main base and just kept going making more vehicles once i figured out how to do it) due to time zones i was able to get mats when most were asleep and build a fleet of vehicles before most came online. it was fun seeing people be confused why the main base was full of dozens of free vehicles. i dont know if it made a difference, but it was fun for sure. from what ive seen that not really possible anymore?
Good on you for trying to do solo factory. That takes some dedication. And yea I would say doing any solo factory work is not the best or most efficient choice. You really only need 3-5 people to make one fairly efficient. But doing it solo will burn you out so quickly.
The worst thing for me is that it was never hard to coordinate with random people before the one world update. There was a QM a lot of the time acting as a faux commander and logistics head, and the chain naturally trickled down from there. There were a lot less players to go around back then, but at any point the guy next to you was able and willing to help, and you just the same as them. We never got the tools in game to expand on this, you mentioned joining squads but it's just a moot point. 90% of public squads on a frontline are dead silent ghost operations that came and went. I just have to kind of disagree, I have 435 hours in the game across many years, I have a serious love hate relationship with it. The only enjoyment I ever had post one-world was in regiments, it was the only way to do combat or logi in any satisfying capacity. I guess that's fine, there's nothing wrong with it inherently. It just doesn't have to be this way, and if solo players were just given the tools to be a loose band of people in a faction working towards common goals, things would be undoubtedly better. Logi lists for example STILL don't have to be map posts, they could be their own requisitions interface. A communications building for joining active or scheduled operations would likewise help so much for the casual player to do something they feel is meaningful on the spot, no fuss required in looking around for a competent person with a good temperament. There comes a point where the player driven nature of the game is so entrenched that it works to its detriment, there are people that want to learn, lead, and make things happen together that have to punch through a mountain of work in the social department to even get started. I shouldn't have to use Discord in order to be an effective member in a factions efforts. I shouldn't have to run around a region hoping to find someone who wants help with something specific. I don't want to grab a rifle and die in a meat-grinder over and over again, feeling guilt of the bleed I put on shirts, I don't want to feel like a drop of water in an endless sea trying to supply those shirts to a front-line, and feel so inefficient doing it that I give up and feel useless. I should be able to load in, check a map, check a list of active groups in the area, see what they're trying to achieve, and what they need to do it. All without a word spoken otherwise. Random solo players were given a meek set of tools to do this at best, we have text chat channels (Filled with irrelevant shit mostly), map posts, and public squads with no description as to their goals, status, and player roles. It gets harder to come back every time I get into the vicious cycle, I love the game, but I need to learn things over and over again. I feel like a day 0 player with each major content drop. I've been Ocdt for five years now, cause I just can't get into swing with people, it's not as easy as it was when I bought the game, it never will be again. Every update alienates, albeit indirectly, anyone who wants to hop in and help out a complete stranger due to each added layer of complexity. Facilities? Get bent, it's clan territory, you want to help out, join a clan. Artillery? Who wants you as a spotter if you wont join their discord server? Even the simple act of running shirts these days from scrap to delivery is a series of moving parts you REALLY don't want to do all by yourself. Your mileage may vary, but for me personally, it's either join a regiment or be really, really bored and ineffective.
I agree that public squads most of the time right now are just random silent groups with not a lot going on. You really need to join clans/regi to get a more interactive group experience. It would be nice though if pick up groups were a lot more involved. They happen just not as frequent as they should. I would love for logi list to get some quality of life update! That has always been logi dreams of mine. Communication overall on the map could use a huge update. I think you can still be helpful to the war efforts without having to join discords. It really all just depends on what you think being "helpful" looks like. I think to many new players get caught up in thinking that they are can't make major plays in this game and they are a small part in the overall machine. Which I think is true and all players should learn. What you are providing for the war effort is moving the team forward in inches not feet or miles. Even big groups with big operations aren't moving the meter that much but they are moving things forward. I want a map update like you do. Maybe the devs are to worried about giving to much information away for alts? Which is sad. If it weren't for alts we would probably have a lot more cool features in this game. I appreciate your feedback and input! I think new players should read this to get a good idea on how their experience could be. Thank you! Cheers!
for casual solo players who dont feel like doing frontline grunt jobs an important job is anti-partisan. if you have a radio and theres plenty of watchtower coverage you can just roam the logi roads and flanks leading to the front and hunt down partisans. you have all the advantage since with the radio you know when and where enemy partisans appear so you are always the hunter getting the first shot. for casual logi players an important job is transporting backline stockpiles closer to the front or midline. you dont even need to make them yourself, there's plenty of equipment crates in the public stockpiles that need distributing if you want to be a casual scrooper you can go to midline refineries and just pump bmats and explosive materials and transport them to the depots and seaports with factories closer to the front. the midline refineries and factories are usually one hex apart so its pretty useful for your team to have a stockpile of Bmats and Emats in the midline factory stockpiles or transporting fueltanks of diesel and petrol to the front for friendly armor to fuel up on for solo builders, DONT
Good point! I didn't really touch on doing anti-partisan but that's a really fun role to play. Transferring goods is what I did a lot in my solo logi videos. And just like you said you don't even have to make them yourself. Just moving them is relaxing. Yea stay away from building bases or facilities if you are doing solo ha. Thanks for sharing your input on this! Cheers!
I'm a solo player who does facility play and it's great. Granted I don't have a huge facility, I usually have one of everything. But so far this war, I've been able to get my rocket factory up. I've been able to make 2 trains and a few train flatbeds. Gonna start shipping rockets pallets to the front now. If anyone solo is having trouble with facilities, the biggest thing I can say is have at least 2 liquid transfer station hooked up to a single generator. That gives you 40hours of facilities passively doing work for you.
That's amazing! I tried it once and I just got worn out so fast ha. That is good information to know! Sounds like you are an expert on solo facilities. Keep up the great work! Cheers!
If you are scrapping and then passing that scrap onto another player who makes/stores vehicles and equipment with it for others to transport to the frontlines, you're not useless. You're an essential cog in the war machine.
It does boil down to lots of infantry combat or logi work if one plays solo and casual. Some sort of LFG system would be handy, maybe even as alternative way to move from home island to a hex where there is combat needing infantry/crews/logi etc. In same way an updated tutorial would really help everyone. Maybe even throw in separate small scale battles on a separate island for lower ranks only, where different aspects of the game are sped up, so new players can understand the mechanics and learn how the game functions and have to deal with time sinks only when playing the actual game.
LFG system in game would be amazing. Have places in the back hex to put post for people to read and join your clan/regi or something. I like the small scale battles idea! I wish something like that was available during resistance phase. These are all great ideas! Thanks for sharing! Cheers!
Ive always loved the idea that im only a cog in a massive machine in games, its not common that you feel nigh insignificant in games and its refreshing when you dont have that pressure. Games where massive amounts of players have to work together to succeed are the best imo.
Same! I love doing task that help with the war effort even if they go completely unnoticed. This is exactly what I love about Foxhole. You summed it up! Thanks!
The first thing I do is to deliver guns and shirts to any heavily contested front. I play solo. Then, I'll start fighting, or I'll play as a paramedic, just healing, not reviving my allies. Keeping people healthy does have a great impact in logistics and in the outcome of a battle. Thank you, I've subscribed to your channel.
I like this! I do this sometimes as well! Like last night I took bmats to the Tomb then built for while then went on crazy partisan run with random guy that invited me. Thanks for sharing how you play and all your hard with with being medic and doing logi! And thanks for subscribing!
when it comes to partisan roles casually, its a ton of fun if you know a few tricks and have some extra time to put in. I remember this "large" (relative to being a solo) operation I did where over the course of a few days I utilized everything a faction had to its absolute limit and ended up literally in the furthest hex of the enemy lines, and ended up stealing a proto tank and wreaking havok for a few minutes while meager QRF forces failed to gas me out, it was genuinely some of the most fun i've had in any game ever, and i was laughing like a maniac the whole time.
Its always easy to go grab a weapon and hit the front but you can also help solo as a medic just reviving troops, finding an arty crew and carrying shells between pallets and guns to speed up fire support, public respurce gathering and simple logi production and yeah you can also help buold but you can also always pick up a shovel and dig for no respurce cost and trenches take a while to dig yourself, so someone always wants a hand.
Agreed all of these things are really easy to jump into! You can always type in chat if anyone needs help with project and normally someone will respond. Thanks for input on this! Cheers!
I only have 30 hours and im slowly getting use to the combat but playing medic is so fun and very impactful. Now i NEVER liked playing a medic or support in games, but once my friend said to try it i dont think i can ever fully go back. Not to mention how awesome it feels to blow a tank up as a medic because your mounted rpg guy was too far gone and just completing his task. there is so many moments ive had that will always make me go back to this game.
I need to play more medic! I swear I'm going to just dedicate a whole war to playing medic here soon. Maybe War 109 Thanks for sharing your experience with Foxhole! Love to hear these stories!
I enjoy building trenches and medic. in a contested area. I turned wide open fields and forested areas in between the fronts into battle zones where dozens of people are fighting.
I think it's actually quite good for casual play tbf. I remember about it and get on a couple of times a year. All you have to do is go to the front and pick up a rifle and two clips and hang about until you get roped into an ad hoc squad trying something more organised.
It feels more organic when you get a bunch of randoms to do little squad mission which is why I like playing casual and solo most of the time. Planned operations are fun as well but there is just something more appealing when pushing with randoms and accomplishing something together. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this!
I have more or less 800 hours in the game by now and play at least half of that as a solo player. I enjoy playing solo, because you have no pressure of what to do. With regiments upkeeping bunkers or facilities comes first before what you really want to do sometimes. This can start feeling as a grind, because wars can take weeks. As a solo player I don't really think about the bigger picture most of the time, because otherwise it would be really depressing indeed. Instead, I set personal goals such as delivering a full freighter of Bmats this week and then taking a break. Or even smaller goals of doing at least five logi runs this hour. If I achieve those small goals then I'll be happy. Resource mining and crafting inherently tickles my inner engineer and gamer, so that's a big plus. However, a good fight is also fun. Albeit, that a good fight with a regiment can be epic. The only real downside of playing solo in the current Foxhole is that you'll rarely get any combat vehicles or combat vehicle variants, because the big regiments get to the components first and also run the facilities. All of the communication to get your hands on a combat vehicle can take a lot of time and is not worth it for me.
I really like this write up as a solo player. This is mainly how I feel as well and I've played solo and for a clan. I love just creating objectives for myself when I log on and play. Or I like to help random people with random projects. And yes I agree that getting into top end combat vehicles is the tricky part about playing solo. The longer the war goes on the easier it gets sometimes. Thanks for sharing your experience on this! Really appreciate it!
His voice gets more and more strained as the video goes on. My voice would be as strained after talking for 10 minutes, but without being ill or anything else
Exactly! Squads help new players so much. Now we just need to tell new players to join squads faster. Or have some squad always set up for new players.
I just wanna say this, Stema Landing my Regiment, really casual and we got recognized as the island defender in stema Landing. Before we took whole Stema me one guy did Logi supplying the islands that get warden swarmed, sometimes becoming medic because they need one. I've been recognized as a Logi godsend by someone. I only vaguely remember what he said.
I’ve also found that being a jack of all trades is fun for me. I would take a rifle and ammo. But also take a medic kit and 2 bandages. Then in the front lines, I would only heal the medics. I would also get either a grenade/mammon or a shovel, depending on what’s more needed at the front. Or you could build a truck and bring bmats from refineries to factories, or to the frontline bunkers. Plenty of stuff to do! Once you get the ropes down, it’s easier to become part of a group to do more complex tasks like arty or mobile armor.
Makes it easy to just get on and do random things when you know little bit about everything. I need to be a medic more often! Have not done it enough. Exactly! You get it. This is what most new players need to know about Foxhole when they start. Thanks for sharing this!
as a solo if you want to make big intact and see it is arty. a lot of time wen I see some 120 guns and few pallets left on the front line I will try and make a makeshift crew with other guys in the front and man the guns.
You'd be surprised how much fun roleplaying is in this game. Because its so vast, having even a squad of players dicking around isn't going to change the war, or even a front. So mess around, talk to people, have fun, pretend that French guy is a Warden spy and bully him into being your friend. The game is very casual friendly
Agreed! I honestly stay away from the "meta" as much as possible and just have fun with what I'm doing and who I'm meeting. Great advice! Thanks for sharing that!
tbh the way to have fun in foxhole as a solo player is paradoxically to just "experience the moment". the game is one giant dynamic system, with several smaller sub systems (logi, facilities, regiments, etc.) playing into each other. like you said, a single player can almost never make a lasting impact, so ultimately the fun in foxhole is in experiencing the activity of fighting in a larger war. and i think this question is really only a problem because the scope of foxhole is so massive. playing planetside 2, you'd almost never hear people ask "can i play this solo?" because people are content to just log in and blast a few people on the front. but foxhole's presentation is a bit more cerebral, like an RTS sort of, so the action is less immediate.
Coming from EVE online, I wouldn't say long regiment operations are not casual or anything else is, I say that the first is high commitment and the other low commitment. You can be a try hard 30minutes a day with randoms or mess around with friends for hours on end Remember that foxhole is really multiple games in a Trenchcoat and you should do what you enjoy doing. I love to pick up fallen weapons and ammo at the front with nothing on me but a bandage, just so the logi players can have an easier time. It takes no commitment and when the supplies are empty I really feel I'm making a difference. Sometimes I carry a first aid kit to stop bleeds, I try to pick up CWS for shirts, I help downed players and I talk a lot. It's fun
Nice that's awesome to hear! Always pick a role or do something that you will enjoy doing! I know some players can get trapped in task that burn them out in Foxhole. Thanks for sharing that!
short answer: yes I play solo - 1200 hours of it. Just ask people on your team or feel free to join someone. It's all about community. if you're looking for "impact" - taking the initiative, encouraging infantry, running those vital bmats or shirts when it's needed most is what really makes or breaks regions. I know personally I've been able to turn around a fight just by giving clearer commands/instructions.
I won't say you cannot be a hero as a solo player. Yesterday i bought this game and after 1 hour in training camp and 15 minutes of shooting rifle from the trench I've managed to enter and clear enemy trench by wiping out 21 players out of it and then killing their counter atack (5 men). And right after that I destroyed a tank from this trench, but then got supressed by machinegun and was really surprised to see 6 grenades throwed at me. And 20 minutes later enemy throwed us back to spawn point by constant artillery bombardment and 4 tanks
About regiments - im curious how often them requies involvement from members and how much, in ENG segment. In our RU segment, it is hell often that head of any clan (not only in Foxhole) requies inadequate level of "discipline" or mandatory things, often naturally demanding from members to bring the game to f-#%ing second job. Idk, is it Soviet heritage or something? xd Because of that, and because of im still sadly rather suck into live ENG communication to try non-RU ones i mostly prefer to play with friends or randoms, or solo, in any social games, onto which im kind of addicted to(ironically).
I’m a middle age dad and I can only casually play solo and I love it so far! Still a newb, but I am just running infantry support for tanks, and medic. I’ve found that there is always a need for someone to cover the flank of a tank line.
Woo for middle aged dads! I'm in the same boat with my 3rd kid coming next week :D And yes tanks always need support! There are lots of roles to play in Foxhole and something always needs to be done even small things that only take 5-10 minutes. Thanks for sharing that!
I honesty love the game! I am a logi "nerd" and I never go to the front line. There are definitely regiments that don't require you to do anything. My regiment that I play with we don't give you any responsibilities unless you want them. Honestly if someone logs in for 1 hour and does g-sups for the base I am happy. My advise is find a regiment that is loose with the requirements and have nice people to play with! Sure the game is about winning the war but it's also about having fun with the people you play with!
Same! I love playing in the back hexes and middle hexes doing logi task. I like this advice! Thanks for sharing that! Fun > Task you don't want to do. Thanks again for your input on this! Cheers!
Semi-experienced Foxhole player here, short answer is yes and no. For me though, "yes" is because you can casually play either as logistical unit in the backlines (either maintaining facilities, delivering supplies to the frontline, etc) which I consider to be casual gameplay. For "no", you can go to frontlines, play as infantries, armor unit, arty unit, or even backline partisan, which mostly will gives you that intense semi-nerve-wrecking experience of being under pressure, having to constantly communicate with teammates, being aware of your surroundings while being in an armor unit, etc. Both options are ideally implemented if you are playing with a regiment, or a clan in other word. Which is why Foxhole sometimes feels dull if you're not playing with a group of friends or a group of people, as other comment here already mentioned earlier.
BTW after 1.0 the player count fell so much like facilities are pointless tbh. just for the amount of effort and resources wasted is just not worth it at all
I have ~1.5k hours. Had my most fun sessions playing with 1 of my friend. That's all. But solo? Hardly. My advice: Find someone to play with you: A colleague, a partner, a friend, anything. Logi harvesting will only become a background to wonderful discussion or debates. Tanks become available, one of you holds the trench while the other one charges, etc... Play with 2-3 friends at most. Otherwise, try clans, but be warned: Clans can be hell. I have been in 3 clans, 2 of them dissolved and the 3rd became toxic Clanmen can be very passionate which can turn to getting yelled at because you didn't *play* (and I want to insist that it is still a game you are playing) well enough It also creates bonds between people who are playing at similar hours and who share long sessions If you go into a clan, it WILL be messy, there WILL be drama and your ideas are NOT guaranteed to be listened to, even if they are good. Big clans can be very bureaucratic and slow to act. But clans will bring you incredible fire- and manpower. They may become a new family and you can make excellent friends. They can hold a front better than groups twice their size of casual players On this note, I'll probably try to rebuild my clan
Just by curiosity are you playing on the Able server? I usually play on Bravo and sure I've met a fair share of toxic people but it's life if someone is toxic irl they drag it with them to the game! Best of luck in the new update!
In this game i dont feel good when i get a kill or things like that, but i do feel good when we manage to stop an attack, take a point or push the lines, when as a team you get to make the difference
If Foxhole casually is anything like PlanetSide 2 casually, a solo player can make all the difference in a battle if they play to their strengths and play the 'situation' out properly. One good grenade toss into a trench met with a smg rush can quite literally break a standoff or even a zerg rush.
I want to start my own regiment but i just dont know where to start. I want to do a specialized regiment and just focus on one thing so we can get very proficient at that one task and help the front better by being good at what we do.
I think what most people do is first find 3-5 people that all play at similar times and want to do similar task. The best place to start is either the official discord or Reddit. Do you know what task you want to do? Maybe a good starting point as well might be to find a clan that already does what you want to do and learn from them.
@@Glorymoon97 Tank operations and what not? Think that could be pretty easy to find a small squad at first again on reddit or discord that play during similar time as yourself and then just build from there.
You can always just hop in a trench and throw grenades at people. Like, frontline combat is fun and SUPER casual, you can just leave at anytime. If you really want to have an impact, yeah its a big commitment.
the resource scarcity mixed with the massive population boom and slow bleed kind of kills it for me, as a solo logistics player. early war feels more like you're competing with your own faction -- especially with the addition of facilities. people will literally teamkill each other over who gets to babysit an oil field every day for the next 3 weeks. as the war progresses, player numbers bleed out and it starts to feel like more of the game is accessible. comp fields are no longer sitting at 100 comps and below 24/7 so you can actually build a tank if you want to. basically, you arent being cockblocked by big regiments constantly because half of them got bored and are waiting for the next war already. i understand removing scarcity would mean the faction capable of putting more man hours will win 100% of the time, as opposed to the more coordinated and more skillful faction carefully planning on how to best effectively use and distribute resources. but im tired of being relegated to the scrap fields because doing anything else is nesr impossible for the first 2 weeks of the war. at least from the solo logi perspective. additionally, i find that an excess of "casual dont bother me" infantry players just means nothing gets done on a front. too many times i'll see that something needs to be done in an area, decide to drive trucks because "i'm better off spending 10 mins to bring bmats from the other hex to start fortifying this base instead of standing around holding a rifle", only to bring bmats to a base, realize they need something else, and then end up being the sole logi driver in a hex for 6 hours. and the second i ask someone to do something or to help me actually build i get told "do it yourself". i can be in a tank surrounded by 30 infantry, and see a huge group of enemies encroaching via radio, call out location and direction etc. but then not a single friendly infantry will move to cover the flank. everyone wants to play foxhole but nobody wants to be a team player. even sitting in the driver seat of a Widow or a Silverhand, infantry will have the gall to tell me "build it yourself" when we need a watchtower up. i dont claim to be some tactical genius but it's rough playing this game when everone has the snarky "i'm gonna tell you to do it yourself and not help you, even if you're doing it yourself" mentality. the most fun i've had in this game has been playing with Sargeants and below. usually not even Sargeants because they get cocky because they think they know what's best with their 40 hrs played. Corporals are more willing to learn and cooperate than most them i get a lot of enjoyment out of driving big trucks around and listening to country music because it helps me get in touch with my inner American. but if i want to deviate away from that simple "log in and do public logi" gameplay loop and try tanking with friends, i feel like i need to dedicate planning a whole day ahead just to have a tank ready on-demand, and to have the supplies ready so that my friends can just log in and play the way they want to right away, i feel bad if one of my roommates only has an hour to pkay, but 10 minutes of that is him driving trucks with me because there's no ammo/diesel/bmats where we're going. its aspects of gameplay like this that makes me realize why i have 10x the hours on this game compared to even the guys who showed me the game in the first place. i dont want them to log in and feel like they're helping me do chores. we want to go larp as soldiers charging into battle, until the wakening realization that sometimes you need to stand around and do nothing, or that you need to do the boring shit because it's what *needs* to be done. because as much as we want to have fun, we also want to do what we deem is the most important task on the battlefield too.
I just log in every so often, see which part has a lot of fighting, then spawn in, get some medic gear, and spend a few hours just healing and saluting people :D
Thankyou! I must say its very rewarding, people recognise you and love you, and when you do start getting commendations they come in fast from people who seem to remember you and appreciate you which makes you feel really valued!@@RobertLovesGames
so i just hopped back in for the new ar yesterday, and for context i think the last time i played was before 1.0. so i did my usual thing of logi and eventually front line medic, and i had one of my buds with me. and honestly, i haven't had so much fun in a long time. just sitting there chit chatting doing supply drops, running into some older clan members (part of SOM) and the just funny talks and chaos with my fellow medics made it a blast. and that was all in the span of maybe 4 hours? 2 earlier in the day and 2 later on? so yeah if you just pick up and chat in game you can have a blast, even if its just you and maybe one other guy. for example even me and one of our front line medics weren't even talking (language barrier) and we were still having fun, either through emotes or just spam crouching. Now keep in mind this is as of today, the 2nd day of a new war so everyone is gonna be hype, so later on it may be a bit harder, who knows. but ik im gonna try to at least hop on after my studys (vet tech pain) and at least try to help my old regi and see if i recognize some old faces. edit: also of note, even if you are on the front line, even if you are somewhat solo you can still feel the impact if you are holding ground or advancing. Because YOU were a part of that progress or holding that line, even if it falls YOU helped keep it up even to the smallest degree, even if you died and got maybe two shots off; those shots stop them for another second. at least thats how i try to view troop worth/moral in this game.
Welcome back! And thanks for sharing your experience! Hopefully that helps a lot of new players that are looking into this game. Morale can run low as wars drag on for sure. Honestly longer wars make me more hype ha. And your edit is so true! It's hard to see the impact you are making but the little things do add up in this game so you are for sure making an impact. Thanks again for your input on this! Cheers!
My main issue with the regiments is that its really hard to stick to one faction. What if I want to switch to wardens for one war? Or from wardens to colonials? I have friends on both sides who played one faction for all game`s history, and that hits even harder after faction got their own stuff. I`ve spent more than 1000 hours playing like that, mostly doing stuff solo.
I have a regiment I like for both factions. And they are both cool with me switching whenever I want. I do WLL for Collies and FMAT for Wardens. Both really good logi regiments. You sound like you play like me. I like to find my own adventures most of the time and help random groups out. Makes the world feel bit more alive to me. Thanks for sharing your experience! Really cool to hear!
Can you play casually? Yes you can. You will barely scratch the surface but there is still enjoyment to be had. I wish I played only casually, but that's just not something I do. If you don't want to play casually, if you want to invest the time and effort it takes, there will come a time that you will suffer for it.
Lol! I know this feeling all to well. I kind of knew going into it that I wouldn't be playing this game like really casually and that I would be taking it very serious. Thanks for your input! Cheers!
Well one of statements i heard in video is about difficulty to feel like you are any useful. Well, its hilarious but in my case i think i feel myself way useful for others and more often than i had for ex. when was playing BF3 and had doing crazy scores like 80-2 as a jet pilot. XD I just so often see things that nobody does for whatever reason but which is very helpful. Especially at logi side. See the storage/port with empty fuel tanks around? Or fuel-less mines. Find fladbed, fill it, bring it back - takes 15-30 mins, but comrades will be glad to someone filally done it! See resource field without harvester? Look around, maybe you can bring any from public stockpiles! And so on, even not speaking about more obvious things like just craft anything for a front and/or bring it from storage. On a frontline - you may try to flank while most of guys keep direct push. Or try catching enemy flanking guys, covering mate's back. You may try to snipe that annoying machinegun-man. You can get a radio and try to hunt partisan you noticed - and find out that was enemy spotter, or that you just saved full logi truck passed by which will be def dead if you dont intervene. Or just build WT as much as u can. Or simply be a medic - most lazy way to be veryvery useful. Not so solo, but once we with bunch of friends decided to try gunboat gameplay. We found some dudes that was trying to pass the river with enemy fortifications on other side. It was night, we started shelling and lighting enemy trenches, and it was insanely rewarding to observe how with our shelling help previously struggling dudes started to moving forward, trench by trench. It continued not too long as we failed to defend ourselves from QRF enemy gunboat, but still, was VERY exciting :D
@@RobertLovesGames While I have more time to play. I still play a lot solo. Plenty of stuff to get up to + the random link-up with strangers. I was gunboating the other night, was really fun. Basically just tagged along with a small group to get off an island in Tempest. As long as you're open to playing with folks or small ops. Lots of stuff to get up to as a solo. When I'm bored or can't think of a goal I'll ask world chat if anyone wants help with anything or needs a soldier for something. Your vid is my last ditch effort to get some pals to play. They probably won't watch it... :|
@@LLAAPPSSEE That is what I do most of the time as well! I honestly love going on random missions with random people. Ha! Maybe show them some other vids as well! Hope it works! Good luck!
i have 409 hours just playing casually as a solo frontline soldier nor have i joined a Clan so i think playing foxhole as a frontline soldier casually is fine but when it comes to like complex stuff like logi, bases and etc then yea your gonna have a hard time
Exactly! If you want to get into some more of the depth of Foxhole you should definitely join a group. If you join a group it will at least speed up the learning curve instead of you trying to figure it all out on your own. Thanks for sharing! Cheers!
I’m a solo and I go from fighting in the frontlines to delivering supplies to the bunker closest to the front I like the game still basically brand new
Fun Casual Gameplay Combat Engineer AkA: Trench Maker, Agressive Digger, Explosives Guy, Sandbager and Barb-Layer. And being associated with everyone by vertue of the jobs your doing you get in in things from Partisan activities to Tank assaults and Artilary deuls.
@@RobertLovesGames Yah it can be fun. But it can also grind against Clan players. Idk what it is with the active community but people dont like it when you try and establish actual front line Defenses instead of just putting down another undersupplied BB
if you only play an hour or a few a day. solo logi is worth it. you can build up a few resources guns ammo basic tanks and such. put it in a personal stock pile. next day log on grab what you feel like playing with ask around for a crew and go nutz for an hour or 2. oh and another thing i do from time to time is grab some bino's and just watch what is going on on the battlefield. if you are going to spend your one hour you might be better off just watching other people then running in like a mad (wo)man. i have never played foxhole for only one life per play. i think ill try it out sounds fun :)
Exactly! It's still pretty easy to play solo. The farther the war goes along you can find all these things for free a lot easier as well in backline seaports. After day 15 of most wars you can find tanks and the ammo for the tanks really easily in backline hexes so no need to do the gathering or building yourself. Just need to find the crew! Let me know how the one life per play goes! Love to hear if other players enjoy it ha
same thing with the original rust, pre-recoil changes. Most players wouldn't reach doing most of the basic things in the game on official until over a thousand hours. I have 1.1k and have yet to do everything in the game, albeit I have played less.
Is there a sort of anonymous command hierarchy? Like... in Planetside, you can pop in as a rando, but still be one of a horde of commanded men so that your efforts are still directed by the guys who put in more time higher-up, with waypoints and objectives determined by the more HC players. Is this a thing in Foxhole, or are you aimless the whole time otherwise?
There is a structure like that! It is not necessiarly run directly in the game besides regiment/clan channels. But yes there are large groups of players and commanding officers of those players that plan a lot of the logistics, attacks, operations. Even though it may not seem like it to a casual player a lot of things that happen in Foxhole are organized and planned out. There are some random groups from time to time but planned operations are much more common. Does this answer your question?
I think Foxhole would benefit from some sort of overall commander role. Maybe for each hex? but then again, I think clans would rig it in their favour. Like Squad where someone becomes the commander and all the squads listen usually. Would bring more coherence. Which is what a military is. Right now, it's an anarchist army and isolated operations. Foxhole has a severe lack of communication tools inside the game. Discord is mandatory. In Squad, you can mark enemies on the map, draw waypoints of attack, set attack markers. The squad system in Foxhole is very basic when compared.
it depends who is online but it is more command than planetside 2 imo, and yea you run with clans on their ops, they usually welcome/request random support on frontline, because its rush and fallback, defend, repeat, so its done best in large numbers
Chances are, you will plan on playing for an hour and wind up getting involved with a group of random people and sink 3 or 4 hours before you check the time. RIP to my sleep schedule
This happened to me a lot in the beginning! Now I know better if I really have to get some sleep the next day. Though just last night I stayed on an hour longer than I should have running shells for arty group lol
Message me if you want to join ours. We play as the Wardens. We will be starting again tomorrow with the new update! We have people from all over the world playing so there usually is someone you will be able to play with! :D
As a colonial player who is part of the colonial tech people, I enjoy doing tech scraping, or scraping an entire field, depositing any salvage you get into a nearby base, letting randoms take it and just grinding for scrap
That sounds nice and relaxing! I’ve done few tech runs and they are a nice casual task that you can do. Or if you want to be hardcore about you can do it for hours and cover all hexes.
@@VG-fk6nk its obvious you dont know what you are talking about. Yes we arent needed as before but they still have a place. We've changed from being the primary source of tech in the game secondary. We still collect data about tech rates because devman still changes it on a war by war basis. We also still accurately give updates on how much tmats and time required to finish a tier and many clans depend on us for protokits.
@@Dodener Nobody cares about "the rate of tech", and you actively harm the faction by hording mats for "muh big clans", instead of dashing up the tech board by letting everyone use protos. I have literally seen a "tech person" wall off an Engi Center, hoard *thousands* of mats and dozens of proto kits, and holding back research because "low ranks shouldn't make protos". It's not just that you hold on to past glory as a pathetic attempt at relevance, you actively hurt the game. But hey, we banned the guy I was talking about, so Devs agree with me. That's enough.
Depends on what you are getting into. Facilities would be a nightmare for new player without any help. But I can't think of what else would be a nightmare. Have you heard anything specific?
Hmmm maybe I can help you troubleshoot your in voice game? Sometimes some settings need to be changed on your computer. Join my discord and DM me and I will help you out!
Issue with foxhole is always this .... 1-Stalemate in an area ...both defence so high that it impossible to push though and just ends up been pointless waste of manpower 2-One team is rampaging and dominating through with over whelming numbers in that area Both those situations is not fun ...
- Solo player here, not even good at the game. Just know some basics. +1 times I run across another solo player who wants to shoot some artillery and the gun need at least 2 to operate. + I then stop a bit helping the guy to rotate the gun and loading the shell. Then a few other solo players also join the effort. + Just in 15 mins. we turn the tide of the battlefield, start raining fire on enemy bases and cut off their supply. + Frontline soldiers catch the opportunity to push with a few tanks we have and win us a region. . - Moment like this is not rare in-game, they happen all the time. You may not be a superhero that murder everything but your effort pay off.
I've done this a lot with arty crews as well! I'm in the middle of doing logi but see they need an extra person to get the guns going. Pick up arty groups are a lot of fun! I like your last point! You may not see the difference you are making but you are making a difference and moving your faction closer to victory inch by inch. Thanks for your input! Cheers!
I’m a solo casual player. I do everything pretty much on my own. I build my own shit, I command my own vehicles and let pubs in. I spot and shoot artillery, I do my own logi. I don’t really care for clans. Too much drama
Also it’s always fun when clans try to boss me around because they don’t like the bunker base I built myself etc etc. I just ignore them and do my thing most of the time. It started a TK spree one time just for building on MY own bunker base 🙃
I will say that you can definitely play casually, but how much fun you will have is up in the air and entirely situational. If you want to play tanks, this will be hard to do casually. If you want to play infantry, best of luck to you. If you find logi fun, um, I guess you shouldn’t have too much difficulty. Good luck if naval operations are your definition of fun
Very true! Really depends on what you want to do in the game. Tanks can be easier to play later in the war. You can find some pretty easily in back seaports or storage depots. Still need to find crew or ammo though. Infantry is for sure the easiest to play casually but from my experience can get stale after while. And yea naval operations are whole different beast and you need to dedicate a bit of time for that. Thanks for your input! Cheers!
Casually/Independent you can still get massive skill steaks, I've gotten over 100 kills in 1 life with just a stolen Catara LMG and gunner armor I made myself one time before I got instakilled by an artillery shell
as a solo player, I found the amount of buildings ai defenses Bridges, and server ques excruciating sometimes I'm fortunate enough to kill my way to the enemy base only to not be able to really do anything to the AI because mortars don't do enough damage (you run out too fast and they repair them) mamons are pretty much suicide and you need 3 for a foxhole you cant use enemy field guns if you capture them for some reason can't even pull their ammo out which is bs but not as bs as what it takes to break them which is high explosives when I could probably disable one by fisting dirt into the barrel for much of the start of the war it feels like your fighting with 1 hand behind your back until late game where only the refined hogging 50 server queuing grinders pour into the 4 playable regions where there isn't a bridge sometimes I've had situations where every frontline is qued but mostly its every nonbridge battle is qued it sucks
Thanks for sharing your experience! This is really good insight honestly. And we need this kind of honest feedback when other players are wanting to know about the game. Thanks for sharing! Cheers!
@@RobertLovesGames imo 90% of this games problems revolve around of the server queue. why is the frontline dead-locked? because the faction's numerical advantage is canceled by the server queue. why are ai defenses so important? they give you extra rifles over the server queue. why are clans such a-holes probably because only so many people can be in a region before the server queue. why cant supplies get into a region? server queue. Why do I have to fight a pointless bridge battle if I want to play the game you guessed it server queue. and to break garrison houses early game requires a server-crashing amount of mamons just look up day 1 mamon insanity and this problem is compounded by things like dynamic wait times
Kind of like planetside 2 but a little more in depth and not first person. I use to play a lot of PS2 and once I found out about the logistics of Foxhole then I never played PS2 again ha
Jesus, people overthink and overcomplicate this game. Just spawn and ask if anyone is willing to help you do what you want to do. Want to be a tank crewman? Ask if anyone needs a gunner or driver. Want to play infantry? Ask where the frontline is and if you can join a squad. Want to do logi? Ask where you should go and what you should do. It's really not that hard. Play as long as you want and then say "hey I gotta log off now, bye". That simple.
Completely agree. This is the kind of stuff that I try to tell new players all the time. Ask a ton of questions and use your mic and you can get involved in just about everything right away. Gamers by nature though sometimes are still shy or really introverted and don't like to use their mics or communicate unfortunately. Thanks for your thoughts on this!
@@RobertLovesGames On my very first deployment I joined a mechanized infantry battalion and pushed warden trenches while my CO blasted phonk out of his mic. That's when I figured out shyness gets you nowhere in this game
The game looks so interesting. Then I check out where it currently is and it's full of stupid things like this and rampant banning of solos because of no reason and so on. I've been skipping on this game for 5 years
"Rampant" banning is not a thing. There is unfortunately still some people who get reported sometimes but it's so rare now that it shouldn't be a concern not to get the game. And if you are already watching videos about Foxhole it will more than likely not happen to you because you know how to avoid it. If you ever do get the game feel free to DM me on discord. I would be happy to answer any questions or help you learn.
Just go to the busiest front and shoot people, if you press f1 you can view your stats, logi wise in a few hours ive made thousands of rifles, and killed at least a couple 100 myself. The logi i have delivered has contributed to many warden deaths
The game is perfectly playable as a casual despite its complexity. You can always just deploy to a front, grab a rifle and go. Once you have done that multiple times you will slowly progress to a point where your impact, even as a solo, is being felt on the battlefield.
True! Especially if you watch good infantry streamers like Zag or Jay.
yeah. honestly you can be like master chief, you just have to develop the real skills to do so.
@@user-tc5qc4ql8m lol true like Zag and Jay
after playing this game long enough if i ever play solo front i just feel like im burning shirts UNLESS im driving logi trucks then im a true hero.
@@Jebu911 The true logi hero that we all need!
For people like me who aren’t comfortable using their mic local chat works out pretty well most the time
Yes! Local chat works perfect for coordinating with others.
The more communication with chat or voice the better and more fun I have honestly.
Thanks for sharing! Cheers!
My best tipp: Overcome your voice chat-anxiety - it makes the game more fun and it helps develop your personality irl
@@grok8211 all of us (except you) understood what he meant
@@grok8211 I haven't played the game yet, but as a Bf1 medic, even with one percent boost can drastically help the Frontline, as there would be no need to run back into the Frontline again
TF is that profile picture...
Cheers!
if people realized how op medics are and got downed intentionally in sports they can be rescued easily from infantry would become a lot scarier, of course until a tank shows up and starts to 40mm everyone but still...
it depends on the incoming mortar fire and situation if i defend or not and what other nearby infantry is doing, if i see them start to rush i join the charge, preferably we have friendly armor nearby. i play rifleman, smg
defense is awesome tbh
(got pissed at not remembering to assign a new spawn point and not having transport from the main base and just kept going making more vehicles once i figured out how to do it)
due to time zones i was able to get mats when most were asleep and build a fleet of vehicles before most came online.
it was fun seeing people be confused why the main base was full of dozens of free vehicles. i dont know if it made a difference, but it was fun for sure.
from what ive seen that not really possible anymore?
Thank you! Cheers!
for casual solo players who dont feel like doing frontline grunt jobs an important job is anti-partisan. if you have a radio and theres plenty of watchtower coverage you can just roam the logi roads and flanks leading to the front and hunt down partisans. you have all the advantage since with the radio you know when and where enemy partisans appear so you are always the hunter getting the first shot.
for casual logi players an important job is transporting backline stockpiles closer to the front or midline. you dont even need to make them yourself, there's plenty of equipment crates in the public stockpiles that need distributing
if you want to be a casual scrooper you can go to midline refineries and just pump bmats and explosive materials and transport them to the depots and seaports with factories closer to the front. the midline refineries and factories are usually one hex apart so its pretty useful for your team to have a stockpile of Bmats and Emats in the midline factory stockpiles or transporting fueltanks of diesel and petrol to the front for friendly armor to fuel up on
for solo builders, DONT
Cheers!
@@RobertLovesGames thank you ^_^
If you are scrapping and then passing that scrap onto another player who makes/stores vehicles and equipment with it for others to transport to the frontlines, you're not useless. You're an essential cog in the war machine.
Exactly! You sound like a logi expert!
@@RobertLovesGames Thank you for the content! HAIL THE WARDEN EMPIRE
@@gsm2424 No problem! Hail the Warden Empire!!
when it comes to partisan roles casually, its a ton of fun if you know a few tricks and have some extra time to put in.
Maybe War 109
Thanks for sharing your experience with Foxhole! Love to hear these stories!
I enjoy building trenches and medic. in a contested area. I turned wide open fields and forested areas in between the fronts into battle zones where dozens of people are fighting.
That sounds awesome! Thanks for sharing that!
That was a really long video and one of my first more serious type videos. Hopefully I've improved since then :D
Squads are a godsend. They're like temporary mini clans.
That's awesome! Thanks for sharing your experience with Stema Landing! Cheers!
I can see this. Arty teams make a huge difference for most battles.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this!
That is a great way to put it about Foxhole being like an RTS. That is how I feel at times.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this!
Cheers!
I will always remember thouse marine resupply missions to besieged Conclave... just a spontaneous mission by some clanmen.
That sounds fun! I never got to do much with Conclave.
Coming from EVE online, I wouldn't say long regiment operations are not casual or anything else is, I say that the first is high commitment and the other low commitment.
You can be a try hard 30minutes a day with randoms or mess around with friends for hours on end
Remember that foxhole is really multiple games in a Trenchcoat and you should do what you enjoy doing.
Thanks for sharing that!
short answer: yes
I play solo - 1200 hours of it.
Thanks for your input on this! Glad playing 1200 hours of solo game play has been good for you!
And good extra tip on making an "impact"!
Cheers!
1.0 did it in for me. Before that i used to enjoy this game a lot, but afterwards I can barely bring myselft to play.
BTW after 1.0 the player count fell so much like facilities are pointless tbh. just for the amount of effort and resources wasted is just not worth it at all
Dang :/ is it something specific like facilities that made you stop playing?
I have ~1.5k hours. Had my most fun sessions playing with 1 of my friend. That's all. But solo? Hardly.
My advice: Find someone to play with you: A colleague, a partner, a friend, anything. Logi harvesting will only become a background to wonderful discussion or debates. Tanks become available, one of you holds the trench while the other one charges, etc... Play with 2-3 friends at most. Otherwise, try clans, but be warned:
Clans can be hell. I have been in 3 clans, 2 of them dissolved and the 3rd became toxic
Clanmen can be very passionate which can turn to getting yelled at because you didn't *play* (and I want to insist that it is still a game you are playing) well enough
It also creates bonds between people who are playing at similar hours and who share long sessions
If you go into a clan, it WILL be messy, there WILL be drama and your ideas are NOT guaranteed to be listened to, even if they are good. Big clans can be very bureaucratic and slow to act.
But clans will bring you incredible fire- and manpower. They may become a new family and you can make excellent friends. They can hold a front better than groups twice their size of casual players
On this note, I'll probably try to rebuild my clan
Just by curiosity are you playing on the Able server? I usually play on Bravo and sure I've met a fair share of toxic people but it's life if someone is toxic irl they drag it with them to the game! Best of luck in the new update!
In this game i dont feel good when i get a kill or things like that, but i do feel good when we manage to stop an attack, take a point or push the lines, when as a team you get to make the difference
Exactly! I feel way better about making and moving supplies around then taking people out on the front.
Thanks for sharing this! Cheers!
If Foxhole casually is anything like PlanetSide 2 casually, a solo player can make all the difference in a battle if they play to their strengths and play the 'situation' out properly. One good grenade toss into a trench met with a smg rush can quite literally break a standoff or even a zerg rush.
Exactly! Especially the more you play and the more you learn about this game. Solo players can do a lot.
Maybe a good starting point as well might be to find a clan that already does what you want to do and learn from them.

the resource scarcity mixed with the massive population boom and slow bleed kind of kills it for me, as a solo logistics player. early war feels more like you're competing with your own faction -- especially with the addition of facilities. people will literally teamkill each other over who gets to babysit an oil field every day for the next 3 weeks. as the war progresses, player numbers bleed out and it starts to feel like more of the game is accessible. comp fields are no longer sitting at 100 comps and below 24/7 so you can actually build a tank if you want to. basically, you arent being cockblocked by big regiments constantly because half of them got bored and are waiting for the next war already.
i understand removing scarcity would mean the faction capable of putting more man hours will win 100% of the time, as opposed to the more coordinated and more skillful faction carefully planning on how to best effectively use and distribute resources. but im tired of being relegated to the scrap fields because doing anything else is nesr impossible for the first 2 weeks of the war. at least from the solo logi perspective.
additionally, i find that an excess of "casual dont bother me" infantry players just means nothing gets done on a front. too many times i'll see that something needs to be done in an area, decide to drive trucks because "i'm better off spending 10 mins to bring bmats from the other hex to start fortifying this base instead of standing around holding a rifle", only to bring bmats to a base, realize they need something else, and then end up being the sole logi driver in a hex for 6 hours. and the second i ask someone to do something or to help me actually build i get told "do it yourself". i can be in a tank surrounded by 30 infantry, and see a huge group of enemies encroaching via radio, call out location and direction etc. but then not a single friendly infantry will move to cover the flank. everyone wants to play foxhole but nobody wants to be a team player. even sitting in the driver seat of a Widow or a Silverhand, infantry will have the gall to tell me "build it yourself" when we need a watchtower up.
i dont claim to be some tactical genius but it's rough playing this game when everone has the snarky "i'm gonna tell you to do it yourself and not help you, even if you're doing it yourself" mentality. the most fun i've had in this game has been playing with Sargeants and below. usually not even Sargeants because they get cocky because they think they know what's best with their 40 hrs played. Corporals are more willing to learn and cooperate than most them
i get a lot of enjoyment out of driving big trucks around and listening to country music because it helps me get in touch with my inner American. but if i want to deviate away from that simple "log in and do public logi" gameplay loop and try tanking with friends, i feel like i need to dedicate planning a whole day ahead just to have a tank ready on-demand, and to have the supplies ready so that my friends can just log in and play the way they want to right away, i feel bad if one of my roommates only has an hour to pkay, but 10 minutes of that is him driving trucks with me because there's no ammo/diesel/bmats where we're going. its aspects of gameplay like this that makes me realize why i have 10x the hours on this game compared to even the guys who showed me the game in the first place. i dont want them to log in and feel like they're helping me do chores. we want to go larp as soldiers charging into battle, until the wakening realization that sometimes you need to stand around and do nothing, or that you need to do the boring shit because it's what *needs* to be done. because as much as we want to have fun, we also want to do what we deem is the most important task on the battlefield too.
What you can do is finding a colonial base, go there without guns, then act friendly (talking and playing dodgeball with guns)
lol! I'll try this one next war!
8:48 was that a tank on the roof ? 😂
It was! I've been meaning to make a video on how to get tanks up on roofs ha

so i just hopped back in for the new ar yesterday, and for context i think the last time i played was before 1.0. so i did my usual thing of logi and eventually front line medic, and i had one of my buds with me. and honestly, i haven't had so much fun in a long time. just sitting there chit chatting doing supply drops, running into some older clan members (part of SOM) and the just funny talks and chaos with my fellow medics made it a blast. and that was all in the span of maybe 4 hours?
XD
I just so often see things that nobody does for whatever reason but which is very helpful.
Considering buying foxhole, being a partisan seems very fun and a very goblin like strategy
Nice! Partisan runs are a lot of fun! Need to find the right group to do it with. It's possible to do solo but it can be a lot more difficult.
Pretty solid advice.
I love trying to to stay alive as long as possible.
Thanks! And same! Makes the game more exciting!
Cheers!
I’m a solo and I go from fighting in the frontlines to delivering supplies to the bunker closest to the front I like the game still basically brand new
Nicely done! If you ever have any questions about logi let me know!
See you out there!
Literally just got the game it just installed I'll probably be playing casually as I'm still in highschool
Love it! Feel free to DM on discord if you have any questions! Remember school comes first! Foxhole will always be here :D
Fun Casual Gameplay
Combat Engineer
AkA: Trench Maker, Agressive Digger, Explosives Guy, Sandbager and Barb-Layer.
And being associated with everyone by vertue of the jobs your doing you get in in things from Partisan activities to Tank assaults and Artilary deuls.
Sounds like a great role! Thanks for sharing!
Cheers!
@@RobertLovesGames
Yah it can be fun. But it can also grind against Clan players. Idk what it is with the active community but people dont like it when you try and establish actual front line Defenses instead of just putting down another undersupplied BB
Foxhole will be a part of gaming for decades. It's what multiplayer is all about.
Agreed! Love this game! 3
if you only play an hour or a few a day.
solo logi is worth it. you can build up a few resources guns ammo basic tanks and such.
put it in a personal stock pile.
next day log on grab what you feel like playing with ask around for a crew and go nutz for an hour or 2.
oh and another thing i do from time to time is grab some bino's and just watch what is going on on the battlefield.
if you are going to spend your one hour you might be better off just watching other people then running in like a mad (wo)man.
i have never played foxhole for only one life per play. i think ill try it out sounds fun :)
Oh wow! I didn't know that about Rust. Thanks for sharing that.
@@RobertLovesGames Absolutely, thanks man (:
@@WhompingWalrus No problem!
Though just last night I stayed on an hour longer than I should have running shells for arty group lol
would love to see a game like squad but with the mechanical complexity and open world nature of foxhole
Same! I do like the top down though for the logi side of things. Makes me feel like I'm an a RTS game.
500 hours?! I think I'll get an actual logistics certification
LOL!
Anyone got some suggestions for casual regiments
Are you in the Foxhole discord? What is your time zone play time and what faction?
Message me if you want to join ours. We play as the Wardens. We will be starting again tomorrow with the new update! We have people from all over the world playing so there usually is someone you will be able to play with! :D
Been playing since 2019 and have always played casual 😎
lol! You make playing casual look easy!
Tech players are so obsolete, it's not even funny. But they hold on desperately to past glory, it seems.
@@VG-fk6nkyou sound like one of the 73iq griefers tbh. Guy knows nothing but still complains about system they know nothing about. Stay coping
From what I hear as a returning player, the new gameplay seems to me like a nightmare for casuals.
Depends on what you are getting into. Facilities would be a nightmare for new player without any help. But I can't think of what else would be a nightmare.
Have you heard anything specific?
i only play 30-1h day, some time i play anti-tank or do front line logi
That’s all you need sometimes. No need for hours on hours.
Thanks for sharing!

Issue with foxhole is always this ....
1-Stalemate in an area ...both defence so high that it impossible to push though and just ends up been pointless waste of manpower
2-One team is rampaging and dominating through with over whelming numbers in that area
Both those situations is not fun ...
True. I don't run into these issues most of the time but I mainly play logi so that might be the reason ha.
Cheers!
Yes. I have 1,100+ hours all solo. Figure out load-out/roles you like. Show-up and see where you can add value and have fun.
Exactly! You get it! Thanks for sharing your experience as a solo player!
Eh ohhhh! T-3C: Good supply doesn't guarantee success, but bad supply guarantees failure 😅
True! lol
Short answer: there is no short answer.
lol exactly.
Oh no! I never see these TK drama events in person only hear about them. Sorry that happened to you.
That's awesome you do all of that solo!
Cheers!
Cheers!
im thinking about to buy it but its so expensive for me right now its 17€ but it looks so fun
Feel free to DM me on discord if you get the game! I can answer any questions or help you learn!
Casually/Independent you can still get massive skill steaks, I've gotten over 100 kills in 1 life with just a stolen Catara LMG and gunner armor I made myself one time before I got instakilled by an artillery shell
Nice! That's awesome! Thanks for sharing that!
as a solo player, I found the amount of buildings ai defenses Bridges, and server ques excruciating sometimes I'm fortunate enough to kill my way to the enemy base only to not be able to really do anything to the AI because mortars don't do enough damage (you run out too fast and they repair them) mamons are pretty much suicide and you need 3 for a foxhole you cant use enemy field guns if you capture them for some reason can't even pull their ammo out which is bs but not as bs as what it takes to break them which is high explosives when I could probably disable one by fisting dirt into the barrel for much of the start of the war it feels like your fighting with 1 hand behind your back until late game where only the refined hogging 50 server queuing grinders pour into the 4 playable regions where there isn't a bridge sometimes I've had situations where every frontline is qued but mostly its every nonbridge battle is qued it sucks
Thanks for sharing your experience! This is really good insight honestly. And we need this kind of honest feedback when other players are wanting to know about the game.
Thanks for sharing! Cheers!
@@RobertLovesGames thanks for your positivity about be being such a cynical ahole XD
Why do I have to fight a pointless bridge battle if I want to play the game you guessed it server queue. and to break garrison houses early game requires a server-crashing amount of mamons just look up day 1 mamon insanity and this problem is compounded by things like dynamic wait times
reminds me of planetside 2, good game.
Kind of like planetside 2 but a little more in depth and not first person. I use to play a lot of PS2 and once I found out about the logistics of Foxhole then I never played PS2 again ha
as casual player taking paricipate in White whale operation shall give best game experince.
Whale operations are the best! Recommend every player try at least one time.
All you need to know about foxhole is that Wardens eat babbies
Whaaaa?!? Us no…
Jesus, people overthink and overcomplicate this game.
Casual Foxhole is called Guild wars 2 WvW :p
It can certainly be that way a little bit. Maybe little less zergy ha
I played drunk didnt go well
Lol! Maybe just scroop and not do any frontline
@@RobertLovesGames sad thing is i was scrooping😂😂
You can play casually and mic-less, you just can't go for more complex tasks
I agree. There are some parts of the game when working with others where they will probably prefer you to have a mic so you can make snap callouts.
Mic distortion.
Mic distortion?
The game looks so interesting. Then I check out where it currently is and it's full of stupid things like this and rampant banning of solos because of no reason and so on. I've been skipping on this game for 5 years
"Rampant" banning is not a thing. There is unfortunately still some people who get reported sometimes but it's so rare now that it shouldn't be a concern not to get the game. And if you are already watching videos about Foxhole it will more than likely not happen to you because you know how to avoid it. If you ever do get the game feel free to DM me on discord. I would be happy to answer any questions or help you learn.
The game really needs a proper lv system it will give people much more reason to play
Maybe. I’m still on the fence about this.
I like how open Foxhole is. No “real” objective besides win the war.
take me look, take me look, take me look how to love! Покажи, покажи, покажи мне любовь.
Fox hole solo = casual for me
join the frontline then shoot until death stop you.
That's awesome! Have you ever tried any other aspects of the game out? Or do you just like going to fronts and shooting?
Just go to the busiest front and shoot people, if you press f1 you can view your stats, logi wise in a few hours ive made thousands of rifles, and killed at least a couple 100 myself.
The logi i have delivered has contributed to many warden deaths
I like it! Thanks for your input!
