Sailing with Locals in Grenada! - Episode 16
Вставка
- Опубліковано 22 вер 2024
- After spending a month completing projects in the boat yard, we launch One Life and get back on the water! We restock the boat with food before taking our Grenada friends sailing. We have the best day with them and even caught a couple fish! We decide to sail to nearby Ronde Island to do some diving and have a little peace and quiet. On our way we stop at Grenada's underwater sculpture park, to take a quick peek. After a week at Ronde Island, we head to Carriacou. We visit Anse La Roche and Petite Martinique where we hike our way up to the most stunning 360 degree views. Join us next time as we say goodbye to Grenada and sail to a new country!
Cheers!

Amazing times :)
Sailing 1 life. . In "hindsight". . . . B4 going through the Panama canal to Honduras and Mexico, etc. . . . . This was a "paradise found" 🙂💜😆🏊🍔🍦🍺🍺
Yes we loved Grenada! Hope to make it back one day! We've made many great friends there.
U guys have truly inspired me to live off grid, I've got a house in Grenada that's right by the sea and I can see myself buying a boat and anchoring littery outside my house and connecting my WiFi and hopefully power as well 🙏🏾.. As soon as my mortgage is finished over here in the UK I'm hoping to do a RYA course then buy a catamaran cause I went to do either a party boat or have paying guest on board, Thanks for the great video's and helping me to achieve my dream 👍🏾👊🏾👌🏾👋🏾🇬🇩🇬🇩🇬🇩🇬🇩🇬🇩
Hey Doop Dapps! That sounds awesome! You should definitely go for it! Grenada is a perfect place for that set up! Thanks for the kind words! Cheers! 🍻
Thanks for all the work you put in hiking so we can get to see the beautiful Views!!!!! Thanks
Thanks Mike! We love hiking and being able to share the views just make me love it that much more!
Nope. You're not the only sailboat that follows weedlines. Great video. Thanks.
Hahaha cheers to that! 🐟🐟
Thanks for watching, Tim!
Binge watching you from the beginning after finding your channel and watching all your current episodes in the boat yard. Did you notice King Kong looking at you while you were diving @ 7:51? Such an inspiration watching you guys!
Oh my gosh, too funny! We didn't realize that but we see it now that you've pointed it out! Really happy to hear that you are enjoying our channel and love that you've gone back to the beginning! Cheers~
You gotta love it when you get friends on board and the day provides great sailing and fishing eh!
Pure bliss! We couldn't have asked for anything more!
nice
Beutifull islands and People. Great Video above and below the ocean .
Thanks WW! So happy to be sharing our journey with you.
Never have thought about diving in to see what is under those weed mats!
Still waiting for that school of mahi mahi to be hiding under one of them! 😂
Wow, beautiful. Loved the underwater events.
Thanks Aunt Jen! So happy you are still watching our journey! Hope you are staying warm! Have you head snow yet?
Another super episode. Fantastic nature shot from the sky and under the water. Nice to be making new friends on your sailing adventures, as well as meeting up with old friends. Stay groovy and stay safe.
We had so much fun in Grenada! Maybe one day we will make it back there!
🙏🏻...
You guys are the fucking best love both of you awesome , live long and enjoy your adventure ..
Ah thanks so much, Joe! 🤙🙌⛵💙
FAB........you are going to need a 1000 gallon fish tank if and when you return to land life permanently, so you can still experience all that underwater gorgeousness!!! 😍
Land life will be an adjustment for sure! Thanks for all the support and love! 😘
Didn't realize Petite Martinique was so big.
We had no idea what to expect. Great place! We only stayed for a day or two so we didn't explore too much but we did grab a beer after our long hike!
Dam!!! You guys killed it on this one! Your hikes after all that cool underwater stuff is unreal! Bravo! Thank you for the incredible footage ⚓️⚓️⚓️. I’m on St Croix following your foot steps right now! Been working on others boats as crew.
Hey there! Thanks for all the good vibes! We loved St. Croix. The scuba diving there was amazing. Sounds like we may cross paths out here soon! What boat are you on?
My son's girlfriend went to Vet school there.....stay safe
Ah very cool! We actually just met a fellow sailor who is a professor at the Vet school there! Small world!
Amazing content guys.. keep living y’all dream and not the American Dream. I was amazed when I was down in St. Martin how much plastic was in the water. I’ve been in contact with a few veteran run companies to try and get a project up and clean one island up a year. It’s a big challenge but trying to work on that
It's definitely sad to see. We'd love to help out with something like that. We find alot of islands we visit have a trash issue, no recycling centers and no where for the trash to go.
How'd you like St. Martin (other than the plastic)? We are considering stopping there.
@@SailingOneLife yes it’s very sad to see. And the locals most of the time can’t help it because of the sanitation on the island itself. We can do better then letting our oceans and beach’s be a waste dump.
I loved St. Martin. I spent two months training the Dutch Army. Its owned by the Dutch and French government. The liquor was cheap, Coca-Cola was expensive. The bar at the end of the Airport was always a hopping place. We Hiked a lot of the mountains while training. They have a Island Water World For boat stuff. I meet a lot of couples that was getting ready to head across the Atlantic. It was crowded with boats last year when I went. But it was the peek season. A lot of cruise boat’s. Pre 🦠. I went free diving most days off the west side of the island with locals and caught fish every night.
We always love when the rum is cheaper than soda at places! Sounds like St Martin is our kinda place, cheap liquor, freediving and friendly locals! Thanks for the info!
@@SailingOneLife y’all are very welcome.. let me know when y’all get near and I will get my local connections to show y’all around the real St. Martin. Take care and keep drinking Rum and having the time of halls life
Thank you! We would really appreciate that! We are looking at heading there in a few weeks. We will keep you posted!
It looked like you were reeling in bigger fish than what came in. Is that maybe because the boat was cruising and adding to the drag? Or baracudda's just strong?
Exactly right! While we are sailing, until we are able to slow down the boat the fish can peel out line pretty quickly making it seem like we have a monster on......when we don't. 😂
I don't think we have a single use plastic problem, what we have is a litter problem.
While littering is an issue, it's important to recognize that single-use plastics contribute significantly to environmental pollution. These items are often used briefly but take hundreds of years to decompose, creating long-term waste management challenges. Addressing both the prevalence of single-use plastics and promoting responsible disposal can help mitigate the overall environmental impact.
This came up as a recommended video after watching a Taylors Travels video. Happy Sailing, new Sub.
Hey Dane! Awesome! Thanks for joining us as we learn and grow! 🍻
Was there any concern about cigutera poisoning with the two barracuda? I'm trying to understand when it's of concern with the fish that eat other fish...
Hey there! A good rule of thumb is to check with the locals. It varies from place to place but seems like most people in the Eastern Caribbean eat barracuda. We consume a lot of fish, always taking the locals advise and we've never had any issues so far.
Loved this say regardless I chumed the water 🤮🤮🤮🤢
You rocked it Rebel!!
I've been wondering how lion fish are invasive? I thought that meant humans brought a species into an area it wasn't aboriginal to. But didn't lion fish find their own way to those places? And where are they from? maybe I'll google that one. LOL
There's a few theories, but it was likely the aquarium trade that brought them from the Indo-Pacific to Florida waters. First detected in the 80s, they have since spread throughout the Caribbean and western Atlantic. Definitely Google it for more info, it's a prime example of how humans can unknowingly cause a big change in an ecosystem.
