You two are a breath of fresh air! I'm an old salt (wrong side of 77) and my dearly departed wife and I did that in our 20's, and never regretted it for a second! Miss her, and sailing every single day! Cheers, and smooth sailing! :)
Hi there! We are so sorry to hear about your wife but we are happy that you two were able to do this together at such a young age! The only regret we have so far is that we didn't do it sooner! Thank you for the well wishes! Cheers!
Thank you I’m jus 76?and healthy so I ready to go sailing again. Nothing like sailing the coast of the Us and the Virgin Islands. A 30 ft boat I’m thinking another 29 ft Ericsson would be perfect
Ha! My wife and I are retired, and we are cruising on our Formosa 47. We rely on my monthly social security check. We don’t track any expenses. We spend on whatever we need until the money runs out, then count the days until the next check comes in. 😂

We did the same thing in 2003 for 5 years before we ran out of money. We ended up in New Zealand and this year expect to finally get back to the cruising lifestyle. Its the best kept secret in the world.
It's so good right? We know we will have to go back to work again one day but for now we are soaking it all in. We hope to get to New Zealand in 2023 🤞. Maybe we will see ya out there somewhere!
We left Seattle in 2006 , Mexico in 2008, sailed Tonga to NZ bought a van and traveled for 5 months, sailed to Fiji for 6, flew back to NZ, bought another van and traveled fir 6 months, flew back to Fiji, sailed to Vanuatu, New Caledonia and ended up in Australia in 2011. Average monthly cost : $800
Thank you for this open and honest video concerning the costs. It seems ... when it comes up to money ... that most of the people are silent about it. Wishing you well Patricia
Outstanding breakdown and video production. You stuck to the subject and didn't misrepresent anything. This is a timeless documentary that should be a requirement for all first time ocean sailors. You also made it entertaining by using real videos of how you spent your money. I am so thankful that you chose to freely share this story. I think this could be a money maker for you as a DVD for sale with subtitles in 6 different languages. Keep it up.
Wow thank you very much for all the kind words! We spent quite a bit of time compiling this info and making the video so we really appreciate your positive feedback!
Groovy! This is without a doubt the most informative and easy to understand video on the costs of living the sailing life I have seen to date. I love the videos you make, because you both have great, fresh and bubbly personalities. You sail to cool places and are open to new and sometimes unusual adventures. You plan to trips well. Your filming and editing is great, and you both have fantastic speaking voices. Stay groovy and stay safe.
MA Yandle, thank you so much! It took is while to put this video together as we wanted it to be helpful to others. When we were planning to quit the 8 - 5 grind we watched endless sailing cost videos but never found any that include EVERYTHING. We really appreciate your comment. Hope you have a great week! More groovy adventures coming! ⛵🤙
Right, I've seen a few like this, and they all seem to land at about the same place. If you are willing to live somewhat frugally, and do your own work, this is about a $2000 and change per month endeavor. So, it's accrued savings plus YT/Patreon/Sponsored videos revenue that makes it work. I do believe sailing w/o any insurance is not smart. Even if you're willing to lose everything you have (fire, sinks), and just go back to land, hitting someone else's boat (anchor drags/breaks; engine craps out at the most inopportune of times, etc....) the damage costs could easily bankrupt you.
Outstanding video. Good luck to both of you. One of our regrets is never having had the courage to do what you are doing. At 73 and 74 respectively my wife and I are probably too old to take on your lifestyle, but we are motivated to do a lot more travelling. Again, thank you and good luck.
Thank you! Happy to hear you guys are motivated to do some more traveling! There is so much of the world to see! We appreciate the well wishes :) cheers!
As a former liveaboard sailor I have to say that was really well done. I admire your frugality - some of your numbers seem super low to me, but as you know it depends greatly on where you are. The difference in daily costs between the Dominican Republic and the Virgin Islands is huge, despite them being not too far apart. Hurricane season and insurance are both topics that give me heartburn. Also love how you showed sailors on a super cheap boat and a super expensive boat - I met them too. The key to making it work on a cheap boat is low expectations and liquor. The key to making it work on an expensive boat is a massive bank account. I was on a boat very similar to yours in value, and figured that to keep it in top shape took about 10% of the value of the boat per year. Thanks so much for an awesome video. Best of luck to you both.
Hi David! Thank you! Yes, you are exactly right expenses can vary greatly based on location and your own personal interests. We appreciate your feedback and well wishes! Cheers~ Brooke & Gary
I "stumbled" across this video and within 2 minutes I couldn't stop watching! In the past few years I have been thinking about a lifestyle as you both live, BUT, I have no knowledge of sailing, and swim like a stone. The strange thing is that I live on the beach on Lake Michigan and watch the sailboat races every week, along with keeping logs on the ships that pass. I enjoyed this video because you have explained EVERYTHING related to this lifestyle. You have stirred up my thoughts about doing this before I am too old to remember what I'm doing. Lol Thanks so much! I wish both of you a safe and very long life.
Hey Tom! We are happy to hear you enjoyed this video. We spent a lot of time on this one! If you are interested in this lifestyle, we say do not allow your sailing inexperience to keep you from it! We bought our sailboat knowing zero about sailing with the exception of what we have seen on UA-cam. 😂 Go chase your dreams! Cheers!
I have watched hundreds of these cost videos for countries and sailing. Yours was excellent, well delivered and helpful - Result depending upon boat, experience, destination, about $2k USD/mth for a modest lifestyle and minimal marinas - spot on with my approximations. New subscriber too :)
I know this is an older video, but I have only recently discovered your channel and am catching up on your older posts. You are rapidly becoming one of my favorite UA-cam channels. This is the most honest, open, clear, and concise explanations of cost that I have ever seen. Looking forward to following you and your future passages. As a side note if I decided to set sail in my retirement years I am going to have to bump that Bourbon budget up just a bit !
Hey there! Thank you! We are happy to hear you are enjoying our channel! Ha, the booze budget is certainly important, especially if your a bourbon drinker! Cheers~
Very well done collecting data on your expenses and then sharing them in a two year comparison sheet. This kind of mindfulness helps you as well as others to budget, and plan ahead effectively.
Taking expenses is so important, it helps you not only sending less because you develop an other relation di money, but it helps you also to budget better, avoid surprise asking yourself where did the money goes. Enjoy, share content as much as possible so you get more subscribers and you can hopefully tell us that this channel is an future income source 🎉🎉🎉
just found your channel and thank you so much for your expenses breakdown. As I have been thinking of doing what you guys are doing now. I truly loved watching this vid and see your positive energy, you two are fantastic! So wishing you, calm waters, gentle breezes and safe travels. Cheers!
I really enjoyed how you two work together narrating different viewpoint and staying on the topic this made it so much more informative as you both narrated I wish you two the best thank you for the informative information
Thanks My boating was in the California Delta, A 35’ Chris Craft Connie 1964, love her my wife and kids loved her, we had a ball! I wanted to shift to sailing because I had crewed Trans Pac as a young man, back when it was fun! You guys have a perfect plan that works for you, now being 75 and in a chair , my seagoing is a vicarious trip watching vicariously!❤❤ your videos!😊
Thanks! You are a very nice couple! The videos are very well done, good quality on photage and definitely all you say makes sense and no "blah, blah, blah". Hope to see you soon on the water! Cheers!
Great video. I was estimating that that was probably the number I would be looking at. Now need to find out how to make those numbers work without “working”
Top notch guys!! Congrats on tracking your expenses so meticulously, this gives you total transparency and allows you to do such an in depth video - fantastic! I think many can relate to this and get a good feel for what their lifestyle and cruising experience will want to look like. Lie you said in the beginning it can be a $2Mill or a $2K experience but both are possible! Wishing you a fantastic sailing season with small expenses 😀 and endless fun!
I wanted to leave in my twenty's, I started with Catalina 27. After 2 summers I sold it and let my wife talk me into a farm instead. Now I'm 38 and regret it all. My son is 3 and we have 3 dogs. I've worked for 20 years non stop and other than our farm we have nothing to show for it and live check to check. I'm going to look into sailing again and raising my son on a boat. Lucky we should be able to sell the farm for about $400,000 profit and I'd love to get a Lagoon Cat if possible. Farms are a ton of work and I'm exhausted and the US has gotten so expensive its just impossible to save any money. I need a change big time. People say boats are a lot of work but compared to owning a home its a lot less square footage to look after. I've gotta get back to a boat and show my son there is more to the world that this small farm in the crumbling US.
Hey there! We hope you can get out here with your son! It's an incredible lifestyle. Many ups and downs but the downs are worth every struggle. Cheers!
Florida native here, The biggest thing keeping me from doing this is the unknown of entering other countries and the fact I know nothing about sailing ⛵️ but yall have greatly helped bring light to both, it'd be cool to cross paths one day. Much thanks! GODSPEED!
You're story is soon to be mine as im planning to buy a used 45' Ketch in the near future and live that off grid boat life. I'm going to have some adventure and make some memories while I still can.
Subscribed. What an incredibly thorough video. You guys are killing it. Thank you for being honest, La Vagabonde has some lessons to learn from you guys. You're so humble. No gimmicks, ads, competitions etc. Great job. See you out there one day hopefully!
Thanks, Stu! We created this video in hopes it would help others see how achievable this lifestyle is! Thanks for subscribing and yes....hope to see you out here one day!
You guys literally couldn't have picked a better time to take up this lifestyle with covid, and being able to sell your house at historic highs. Crazy good timing.
Hey Magnus! Ah so cool. Happy to hear you enjoyed this episode and you've gone back to the beginning. We hope you are enjoying some of our earlier episodes as well!
@@SailingOneLife I do, many if not most. I gone back to 1 and gone to I believe 37 by now. I should really comment on all of them just to help you guys out with the metrics. I will go through all again and comment those I have not commented on.
@@SailingOneLife An advice, create a playlist for people to binge watch. It will help your metrics but also your view time as people can just have it on and play in the background giving you minutes and hours of watch time.
Thank you for the breakdown, it is super useful to know all of this. On $2k pcm one can actually travel the world in many different ways, but having your own home that you can use for sailing around the world (one that's surface comprises of 70% water) is definitely very appealing. Could you please make the video on the risks, how safe/dangerous things can get? I saw a number of young fems travelling on their own which would kinda indicate that it is a safe thing to do, however I do not know until I try it I guess and I am sure that there are things that are good to know in order to avoid these and to prevent serious problems. Tks
Hi there :) We are glad to know you found this video informative! We get quite a few questions about safety at sea so maybe we will make a video about it one day! There are many solo female sailors out there sailing around the world. There are always places that are more dangerous than others but we tend to stay away from places that have a poor reputation and avoid sailing in areas like Venezuela and the Caribbean side of Honduras that are known for piracy. Overall, we believe the lifestyle is pretty safe but like with anything there are always risks. Hope this helps a bit! Cheers~ Brooke
now having binge watched y'all, thank you for the travel and education. you guys deserve more credit and viewership. We will share and spread the word. Keep up the adventure.
Hey Tim! Oh wow thank you so much for the kind words! Can't believe you binged watched! So cool! Thank you for joining us on our journey out here! Cheers!
Amazing that you kept track of everything!! It can be time consuming but so cool to be able to look back on it!! So exciting to see this getting so many views!!! So happy for you both! And so exciting to see how things have changed from when you left, you just keep going from strength to strength!
Hey girl hey! Thanks, Hannah! Keeping track of everything is a really good way to see what we can cut back on or do more of! And as you know I love numbers! 🤣I hope life is treating you well!! We still have our sight on NZ! We will make it there ONE day! Miss you! 😘
Appreciate you sharing! This looks like something we could swing for retirement. We're landlocked in Idaho, but I've sailed and love doing it and could see taking off on an adventure like this. Love it!
That was great. I own a business that is mostly self-sufficient that would be able to fund almost double your expenses. Now all I need to do is buy the boat!!
Very informative and interesting how your costs are kept affordable. You really seem to have got into your groove in a relatively short time whilst balancing amazing experiences with practical living. Long may it last and long may you share it with us.
Thank you, Ian! It took us awhile to put this video together. Happy to hear you found it informative! Thanks as always for the support and good vibes out here!
Hey you two!! Came across your channel and this video. Love to see how detailed you were in noting down all the costs and sharing how you eek out every penny!! Very inspiring even for me on land. The itch to sell it all and hop on a boat is growing by the day, but with a 2 yo and a dog I think I'll spend the time researching and gaining more experience at sea :D Thanks for sharing!!
Hey Shakey! Thank you, we are happy you found this video helpful. We see alot of kid boats and alot of dog boats but now that we think of it normally not a combo of both! 😂 JK We see families sailing out here all the time and their kids are always the coolest ones around. Sending positive vibes your way so you can get out here some day!
Hey Brooke and Gary! My two buddies and I are starting a circumnavigation next year. Thanks for the informative video and hope to see you all on the Seven Seas!
Great video guys; I hope you'll be able to sustain this over time! I'm in Hawaii, divesting my own home and learning how to sail and plan to lift anchor the latter part of 2022, so this was quite informative for me. Looking forward to see more of your adventure!
Hey there! So good to hear you found this informative! What kind of boat do you have? Which way are you going to head once you lift anchor?? We may cross paths! ⛵⛵
@@SailingOneLife Cheers! I've completed lessons and have a navigation course left that I intend to take before taking off. I have looked at boats here in Honolulu, but prices are a bit stiff so I haven't pulled the trigger. I got some business to take care of in Europe this summer and plan to travel around to look for a boat after that. I'm looking to buy a 32-40ft cutter rigged, full keel/cut out with skegged rudder type of boat. Something like a PS37 or similar. I might also continue working from the boat for some time (software engineer), possibly in Puerto Rico or DR, but it all depends on where I find the boat.
Hey Island Man, thank you so much for joining our live chat and sending us a SUPER STICKER! That was completely unnecessary and we really appreciate it! We will buy a couple drinks and cheers you! We look forward to getting to know you better and follow along on your journey and boat buying process! We can imagine just how expensive boats are in Hawaii. Working from the boat is definitely doable, especially in a place like PR or DR. Keep us posted on your progress.....we look forward to crossing paths one day!
@@SailingOneLife No worries! I probably won't by a boat here in Hawaii because it's too expensive and complex with getting a slip. Spending my Summer in Europe and that's where I'll start my search. Anyway, looking forward to continue to follow your adventure :)
So I am no sailor, but travel around in a RV. Regardless, the way you all track your budget gives me a great idea on how to do it for what I spend. Great info and I love watching you guys travel.
Great video and detail. Its almost like someone has some accounting background :) ... Love the candor and the explanations. It is helpful to see and I think you hit a good balance of enjoyment and practicality. Save in some areas, just spend and enjoy in others. Well done!
Yeah I guess you know who keeps the books around here! 😂 We don't feel like we have missed out on anything we really wanted to do because of cost. And if we stick with that, our money goes where it should. 👍
Awesome video! Appreciate how detailed you were on expenses, you made it seem totally doable. Keep up the great work and I look forward to watching future videos.
I'm a Florida native, born and raised, and currently live in Norway. I'm also a Navy veteran and have been all around South and Central America coastal cities. This is a great idea. After watching your video, I have to say you are inspiring. Love it
Hey there! Ah cool, where did you used to live in Florida? Do you have a favorite city from your travels in South & Central America? Thanks for the comment, we are so happy to hear you found this video inspiring!
So envious of your lifestyle on One Life!!! You are living my dream. One “category” I was surprised not addressed is “Security & Safety”. The waterways you’ve traveled are not void of cartel and “piracy”. What do you do to protect yourself, and how much do you spend on it?
Good question! Security & Safety is not a category on our list because we don't spend any money on it. We do not carry any weapons, no surveillance cameras for when we are off the boat, etc. We tend to stay away from areas with known piracy such as the coast of Venezuela and the Caribbean side of Honduras. If we get a bad vibe from some place we just leave. So far we have felt pretty safe everywhere we have been. Most people are good.
I really enjoyed this as I hope and plan for the same life style. I also understand things happen probably more often out there, but I have to try! Thank you guys and wishing you the best and hopefully we’ll meet one day!
Hi Randy! Those were our same thoughts....things will happen but we have to try! We can always go back to the grind, if needed. Happy to hear that you enjoyed this video and we hope you found it helpful for your future journey!
That was AWESOME!!! Thanks so much for being transparent and sharing this info with all of us out here who wish we could do what you're doing. I am actually surprised at how well you have done, and honestly, how inexpensive you've been able to make your travels, while still making life on your boat enjoyable.
I love your straight forward approach. It looks like your UA-cam channel is fairly new. What are your projections for revenue from the channel? Is it realistic to expect that the channel could pay all of your expenses? Thanks so much and stay safe.
Hi Steve! Yes our channel is relatively new, about a year. We aren't exactly sure. We know plenty of people who are able to pay for their lifestyle via UA-cam but I think more so with Patron income. We are an extremely small channel and just recently started to monetize but I believe in another couple months the revenue from this will cover half our expenses and if we continue growing - who knows!
Just subscribed, I don't know why most cruisers videos treat their expenses like it's some kind of state secret. I was looking for honest, accurate information based on where you went, what you did while there and the cost of planning and executing the lifestyle and that's exactly what you provided. Many thanks, enjoy.
i've been binge watching these sailing videos, and am clueless about it, very impressed you guys just went for it! Been looking at some Trimarans..i'm actually contemplating doing this in few years..it helps to get an idea of the cost ( ball park ) well done looks great.
Hey Mario! Awesome to hear you found this video informative. Wow trimarans are a whole different animal, we know nothing about. That is so cool! We actually have some sailing friends who just sold their monohull for a trimaran. They our Outer Passage on Instagram, you should go check them out. They are a great place for info! Good luck on your journey! Maybe we will see ya out here one day! 🤙
Gooood evening One Life!!! Very very good video. Seeing your budgetary synopsis shows that you are taking care of the business of sailing in the best way possible...spread sheets included 👍. Not that it means anything but I’m very proud of your strategic planning. Conservative strategies are what will keep you on the water perhaps as long as you both desire that life style. You’re great pioneers of the sea. This subscriber hopes you continue sailing far into the future. God bless you both. 👍🇺🇸😎🥇⛵️...
Hey Trent! Thank you very much! This video took quite a bit of time to put together. Happy to hear you liked it! We hope others find it beneficial and informative. Hope you are having a good week and thanks for all the support out here! ♥️
Interesting to see your detailed living costs. However, you have included basic living expenses that everyone has to pay anywhere. eg: you have to eat, drink, be entertained etc., no matter where you are. I wouldn't regard those basics as costs of a sailing life. In fact the lower costs of many things compared to a land life should be offset against your expenses.
My first time finding and watching your video. Excellent, and I hope your success continues. Think I'm going to check out more of your videos. Best of luck and thank you.
Cheers from James-Bay in Canada! What a nice explanatory video for those that are interested in the life style! Sun heath and big cheers to you both! 🍻
Thank you for sharing your experience with the rest of us, sailing is quickly becoming a dream of mine and videos from good people such as yourselves is providi g me with much needed inspiration and information for my intended future. Although I live in the Uk and we are famous for our bad weather but that just more good incentive to travel around. i hope you guys are still having a great time and may you continue to stay happy and healthy for many years in the future. The BEST - your expense/cost breakdown is the BEST that I have ever seen, and without being vague about it. You made it very clear and simple. Thank you.
Great video, honest and a wealth of information for people who are considering this type of lifestyle. You 2 are lucky to have the same types of interests and are very adventurous. Good luck to you both in the future!

Thanks so much, Garry & Brook, for this interesting video! It looks like some countries can boost the cost of entry and exit fees. And of course, repairs and maintenance can vary substantially. I appreciate your professionally produced videos. Happy sailing.
We’re glad you found the video interesting! Yes, entry and exit fees can definitely vary from country to country, and it’s always good to be prepared for those unexpected costs that can pop up with repairs and maintenance. We appreciate you following along with our journey! Cheers~
Hi. Only came across this video of yours today. I been watching other videos . No 1 gave costs breakdown. Very very informative. Thanks a million for posting.
Thank you for the info. Tons of useful information! I never thought about dropping my cell phone into the deep blue. LOL. I'm about to start my own journey on a sail boat out of Florida. I'll keep you posted. Thanks again!. E.
You guys are both delightful. This is the best explanation of costs I have seen. Keep it up and have a blast. Who knows, maybe one day you'll run into an old guy with a guitar in a Cape Dory 36 finally cruising around these beautiful places. Peace!
Very nice video. We had no idea upkeep cost so much. There goes this old couples's plans to sail into the sunset. I was thinking/wondering how to set up an electric sailboat with portable solar cells to lower fuel costs, but, the maintenance is just too much. We were also thinking of growing so food on boat. Thanks for the great cost breakdown.
The best video on the subject I’ve seen. You are both straightforward., down-to-earth, easy to hear, easy to listen to, and although it’s home made, it has a professional feel, and the down-home vibe adds to the overall experience.
I just came across your channel. You guys are great! I just started sailing again (at 61) so maybe I will see you on the water. I have a Prout 38 cat currently named Terra Mar. But I am renaming her after my youngest sister " sv Donna Jean" in her memory. i will keep watching for sure. Have fun!
Great job guys! Lived aboard from ‘95-‘02. Miss it terribly, a little older now and have a good case of the “fuckits”, might be time for another sailboat!
Hi guys , never sailed , too old to attempt . I get my dose of sailing from posts , living life through others experience. That was very insightful and informative for a beginner . I noticed you guys havent visited trinidad . I watch vlogs about other sailors visiting here , anyway all the best .
Perfect; This is just what I wanted and needed to see. I think much of your monthly costs to maintain that nice boat is because it is old. Still looks nice, but if you buy an older boat, even in excellent shape your expenses will be higher. Nicely done and I/we apperciate your efforts. Kevin Wethington
I’d love to do this. My husband hates repairing things and I don’t have much experience with it so your comment on how you do most of your repairs so you can afford this lifestyle is helpful! Going to have to figure this one out…
Hey Amanda! Nice to hear you found it helpful. As long as your willing to learn, be a bit uncomfortable at times and put in the work - you can totally do it!
I couldn't believe how great of a job you guys did when making this video. Totally informative and well put together. Also why does what you are doing seems to be more fun and real than it would be for other people who may fail at it. You guys just seem to know what you are doing a little more than others!
I happened on your channel by sheer accident. As a sailor I thought the topic would be interesting. It was. You both are interesting. I subscribed and liked. I’ll look for your past vids to see your experiences from the beginning.
Thank you! Welcome to our channel! We appreciate you going back and checking out some of our other vids! Hope you find some of those enjoyable as well. Thanks for the sub!
Very cool and well done. The honesty and attention to detail are great. With that said, I’ve btdt but it was fun to stop by and watch you two enjoy it.
Extremely informative. Thank you. I'm starting to plan my world sailing, using a different model to finance this, but your breakdown of the expense categories makes for a more transparent and realistic budget. I also enjoyed how you work and interact together.
Wow! I know I'm a bit late to the party in seeing this, but so love this video!!! Sure, I've seen several how much it costs vids before, but this has the be the most complete and beneficial I've ever seen! Thank you so very much for your sharing of knowledge so I can hopefully learn and follow where I can.
Thank you for the video. I am wanting to do something similar by purchasing a trimaran and island 🏝 hop the same areas. Once I acquire the experience I would like to venture further including the Azores, Galapagos and Fiji. I am not wanting to do this solo and hoping I can find a first mate...in a one piece bikini.

Thanks!
Thank you!! Glad you enjoyed this video!
I agree MAYandle
Yup!

Keep the adventure going! I am dreaming of what you have! Enjoy and have fun .. the rest will come without thinking too much :).
Thank you so much! 💙 We really appreciate the support and good vibes!
Hi Peter! Thank you very much! We appreciate it! Happy to hear you found it helpful!
Hi there! Thank you! Yes, it has definitely helped us manage our expenses and budget. We hope others can put this info to use as well!
Taking expenses is so important, it helps you not only sending less because you develop an other relation di money, but it helps you also to budget better, avoid surprise asking yourself where did the money goes. just found your channel and thank you so much for your expenses breakdown. As I have been thinking of doing what you guys are doing now. I truly loved watching this vid and see your positive energy, you two are fantastic! So wishing you, calm waters, gentle breezes and safe travels. Cheers!
Hey Matthew! Thank you! Happy to hear you enjoyed this video! Appreciate all the good vibes!
I really enjoyed how you two work together narrating different viewpoint and staying on the topic this made it so much more informative as you both narrated I wish you two the best thank you for the informative information
Hi Rodney, thank you! Happy to hear you are enjoying our videos!
Ah cool! Chris Craft Connie sounds like a lovely boat and lots of fun memories made! Thanks for coming along and watching our journey!
Awesome job guys!! So amazing how honest you are in this. It really helps so many people see how possible it is! You guys rock!
Thanks so much, Adam! We hope others find it informative and interesting. Thanks for cheering us on out here! ⛵🍻
Thanks! You are a very nice couple! The videos are very well done, good quality on photage and definitely all you say makes sense and no "blah, blah, blah".
Hope to see you soon on the water!

And how exactly is possible to have 2K dollars per month to cover expenses without working?
Great video. I was estimating that that was probably the number I would be looking at. Now need to find out how to make those numbers work without “working”
Top notch guys!! Congrats on tracking your expenses so meticulously, this gives you total transparency and allows you to do such an in depth video - fantastic! I think many can relate to this and get a good feel for what their lifestyle and cruising experience will want to look like. Lie you said in the beginning it can be a $2Mill or a $2K experience but both are possible! Wishing you a fantastic sailing season with small expenses 😀 and endless fun!
Hey M Z! Thank you! We put alot of work into this video, happy to hear you found it informative! You can definitely do this on any budget!
Cheers!
Florida native here,
The biggest thing keeping me from doing this is the unknown of entering other countries and the fact I know nothing about sailing ⛵️ but yall have greatly helped bring light to both, it'd be cool to cross paths one day. Much thanks! GODSPEED!
Hey there! We knew nothing about sailing but we managed. If we can do it, you can too!
You're story is soon to be mine as im planning to buy a used 45' Ketch in the near future and live that off grid boat life. I'm going to have some adventure and make some memories while I still can.
Ah fantastic! We love hearing this. Good luck on your adventure! Maybe we will cross paths for sundowners one day!

Hey Sean! Yeah we unknowingly picked the perfect time to quit our jobs, sell our stuff and get out here!
I love this episode, it is how I found your channel.
Now I have binch watched the last 2 days from episode 1-27
Hey Magnus!
Ah no worries! We really appreciate the comments when you can! Thank you for supporting us out here!
We do have a playlist for all episodes. Would you mind to double check if you can see it?
Miss you! 😘
Thanks so much for sharing your experiences and running costs. The wife and I are about 2-4 years away (could be sooner) and looking at how to manage.
Awesome! Happy to hear you found this informative and congrats on taking the leap yourselves! Let us know if you have any questions, happy to answer!

Hi Don! Thank you! Happy to hear you enjoyed this video! Maybe we will see you out on the water one day!
That was great. I own a business that is mostly self-sufficient that would be able to fund almost double your expenses. Now all I need to do is buy the boat!!
Hey Joe! Yup go for it! Buy the boat!
The itch to sell it all and hop on a boat is growing by the day, but with a 2 yo and a dog I think I'll spend the time researching and gaining more experience at sea :D
Thanks for sharing!!
Hey Shakey! Thank you, we are happy you found this video helpful. Hey Brooke and Gary! My two buddies and I are starting a circumnavigation next year. Thanks for the informative video and hope to see you all on the Seven Seas!

Great vid. I just retired, own a boat, and I'm tossing around the idea of just setting sail. This was very informative. Thank you. 👍
Congratulations on retirement!! That's amazing! We hope you can set sail soon!
I started watching you two on your Pacific crossing and don’t miss a week with you guys. So fun to go back and see you in your earlier years!

Yes, we included all our costs. This video includes all of the costs related to liveaboard life vs life on land.
Great video! Thank you very much for all this great info! Smooth sailing mates!
Thank you! Happy Holidays!

Yes, boat maintenance is a big one! Glad you found this video useful!

I just came across your channel. You guys are great! I just started sailing again (at 61) so maybe I will see you on the water. I have a Prout 38 cat currently named Terra Mar. But I am renaming her after my youngest sister " sv Donna Jean" in her memory. i will keep watching for sure. Have fun!
What a beautiful way to remember your sister! Thanks for the good vibes, Mark! Hope to cross paths with you out here one day!

Hey there! Thank you! Yep, we skipped Trinidad but have heard lots of good things about it. Glad you enjoyed this video! Cheers!
Hi Kevin, happy to hear you found our video informative! Yes, boat age and maintenance required definitely plays a big role in the cost.
You are a breath of fresh air.
My joy will always be to retire on a sail boat sail the Bahamas and learn from you guys . I want to thank you
Thanks for all the comments! :)
I’d love to do this. My husband hates repairing things and I don’t have much experience with it so your comment on how you do most of your repairs so you can afford this lifestyle is helpful! Going to have to figure this one out…

Also why does what you are doing seems to be more fun and real than it would be for other people who may fail at it. You guys just seem to know what you are doing a little more than others!
Thank you! We really appreciate your comment and we are happy to hear you found this video informative! Cheers! :)

Hey there :) Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video!
Extremely informative. Thank you. I'm starting to plan my world sailing, using a different model to finance this, but your breakdown of the expense categories makes for a more transparent and realistic budget. I also enjoyed how you work and interact together.
Thank you! Happy to hear you found our video informative. Best wishes on your adventure!
What a positive vibe! Thanks for the video, enjoy!!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!
Wow! I know I'm a bit late to the party in seeing this, but so love this video!!! Sure, I've seen several how much it costs vids before, but this has the be the most complete and beneficial I've ever seen! I keep dreaming of being able to do this and sure hope that I get the chance. In the meantime, I find it so wonderful being able to escape into your videos and learn all that I can along the way! Thank you both so very much and always wishing you both the best!!!
Sorry again for lateness. Just became a patreon (please others follow as this is one of the most informative channels allowing those of us to live the dream in the meantime as well as prepare for future dreams). I've watched several of your vids recently and have quickly gotten feedback on my novice questions (so much appreciate, thank you!). Sorry I cannot support much (I have 3 kiddos to make sure get through school, safely on their own feet, and whom I absolutely love, support, no regrets ever). Thank you so very much for your sharing of knowledge so I can hopefully learn and follow where I can.
Hi Chris! Thank you so much for joining our Patreon Crew! We sent you a message on Patreon. Chat over there! 💙
I am a new subscriber, I follow several other Boating families and found yours to be interesting as well. Cheers from beautiful frosty Michigan!
Hi Donald from Michigan! Welcome aboard! Thanks for following along on our journey. Cheers!

@@SailingOneLife didn’t really expect a response. Thanks for replying.
Always been a plan of mine to embark on sailing life from Aus…
Very cool! We hope to get to Aus for this cyclone season.
@@SailingOneLife that’s awesome. I wish you both a safe journey here. Don’t come in June to Aug unless you love winter. ☺️
Good timing selling your house when you did. Market isn't looking too hot now. Have fun cruising the seas and be safe!
Yeah things just seem to work out at the right times. Thanks for the well-wishes!
Always remember. All this possible when you got great support! 🎉 Love what you got cause you may lose it the day after tomorrow.
So true! 100% agree, Mark!
Nice vid, it showed up suddenly as i am in the process of buying a 35 ft sailingboat made of steel. Subscribed
Congratulations on your new boat! 🙌⛵
Thinking about doing the same with my wife, we live in Colombia now. Great video, thanks for the good info.
Hi John! Awesome! Where in Colombia do you live? We loved Colombia when we visited.
Hey John! Thanks, glad you enjoyed this video! Wishing you the best in 2024! May you find your boat and a mate in a one piece bikini! Cheers!
Thanks for this breakdown. This kind of life feels more possible now after watching this. 🙏
Hi Brett! Glad you found our video helpful!
