Hi Phil I liked that picture of Hill Top school because that's how remember it I enjoyed your Walk around area and the history and seeing how it's changed at the end of your walk at the junction of coles Lane I'm not sure now was there a pub on the corner all the best Paul
Another brilliant video Phil....I can remember that school....I wonder if Siddons Way is something to do with this company?....Joseph & Jesse Siddons Ltd Howard Street Hill Top West Bromwich B70 0TB

When you were by the hen and chickens pub I had just crossed the road, I wasn't in the video I was just out of shot but I could just about hear myself in the background I would have stopped to say hi but I was to nervous
As usual Phil you managed to extract some interesting information from an otherwise very uninteresting street but having said that, I just hate these new tacky rows of shops that are popping up everywhere now. But to have a further moan, after seeing the Hill Top supermarket it reminded me of a trend I'm seeing everywhere now where shops are building these permanent "lean to" structures on the pavement on the front of their shops as an extension and displaying and storing stock in them. Now as far as I'm aware, the shop owner or renter does not own or rent the land directly outside of their shop as it is actually a public foot path. I'm surprised the local councils don't come down hard on the shop owners. It's ok temporarily displaying a few fruit and veg outside of your shop such as they do in Union Street Wednesbury but I think this is a step too far to build these structures that are often built very shoddily so they are possibly unsafe and they look a mess. Of course, the star of the show was the lovely old caretakers house that looked really out of place next to those flimsy new builds. Oh and yes Luggs Ironmongers were brilliant. You could buy anything from a screw to a welding machine from there except for on a Saturday. I don't know why they closed although there is a Luggs tool shop online. You mentioned the lack of Butchers shops but after watching one of your vids last weekI think they've all moved to Bilston Market. There is now a Punjabi Butchers on Yew Tree estate just up the road from where we live. So the fireworks are still going strong round here and I've got me a couple of beers in and will be watching the election results deep into the night. I think the outcome is very important to us. Thanks for the walkabout Phil.
As you mentioned in the video, the school was indeed on a flat. But underneath the school's car park, there was a bomb shelter capable of holding all students and teachers during an air raid. This prob makes sense to why it goes down now towards the back...
A friend of ours lived further down in what was a doctors house made into flats the old lady lived there has well it was a lovely big house, now gone and I think they built houses or flats

I went to Hill Top and before that Harvilles Hawthorn. The park off Dial Lane was where we played weekly. Great memories. I left Hill Top in 1982

Thanks TS and again some great insights and observations, many thanks
completely agree with you on these lean to extensions...
Could you make a video talking about the pub that was on new street hilltop
@@RobertBarnard-i8x I will add it to the list many thanks
I think I'd prefer hill top school there, I remember it, than this housing estate
As you mentioned in the video, the school was indeed on a flat. But underneath the school's car park, there was a bomb shelter capable of holding all students and teachers during an air raid. This prob makes sense to why it goes down now towards the back...
Ah, that explains the incline, many thanks for the info
Where your video starts was where I got my head kicked in by three lads back in the day, Good times

No notification again from YT, for your videos. 🤦🏼♂️ You must be controversial in their eyes 😂
Apologies for this rob, not sure why. I will look into it. Thanks for letting me know
