OR-14 omnics took part in the first omnic crisis. *After* that was over, they started producing an upgraded model called the OR-15, to defend Numbani (and probably other places). Efi took a destroyed OR-15, and fixed and upgraded it. Since it wasn't a "stock" OR-15 anymore, she just stuck an "A" on the end, and thus "OR15A" was born (hint: read the model number in leet speak).
don't forget to watch 'junkertown the plan" as well. it might not be on the overwatch cinematic list because it's different to other but it's still a great overwatch animated short. gives a great insight into two neutral heroes known as junkrat and roadhogg. well worth watching as well! 👍

Thirty years ago, several omniums across the world mysteriously reactivated and began building armies of military-grade omnics, which were deployed without warning or mercy against the nations of the world. The SST Laboratories "Bastion" Siege Automation model B73 was the standard unit produced by the Omniums. Other classes of omnic were produced as well to fight in the crisis like the OR14 "Idina" line. Initial Response Russia was the first country to be affected. It’s amazing how they portrayed PTSD with a robot. And showed his inherent goodness fighting and struggling with his programming and ptsd. Then all the symbolism. With the bird, not only representing free win and freedom but also his good side and reminding him to live in the present. And when that bird comes back putting him literally in the middle of the screen in the middle of the forest and the city, torn between 2 options, the conflict in his mind etc. Before finally showing him walking away from the city and picking the forest, choosing freedom and goodness. What an amazing way to humanize a robot…
Just a small clarification it was more like Overwatch vs. Omnics with Talon chilling in the background and then after the Omnics were defeated it was Overwatch vs. Talon (Talon really does most of their attacks on Overwatch after the Omnic Crisis).

This animation does such a good job of showing what ptsd is and how it changes a person and it does so, without saying anything, it’s so impressive. I think this is blizzards best animatic by far.
For more lore there is a character in the game called Torbjorn and he was actually sent to disable Bastion (the one you see here) after finding out that a Bastion Unit has managed to survive, but upon finding him he realizes he can't kill him and instead decides to protect him.
I think the brilliance of The Last Bastion is that because Bastion can't speak (though he communicates through musical beeps) and he doesn't really interact with anyone other than Ganymede (that's the bird, who is with him even in-game and gets a makeover for every skin of Bastion) so you have to read the body language and you have to really look at everything around them and it makes it so deep.
Definitely gotta agree that this was one of my favorites. So simple, so straightforward, but still managed to be powerful. Not to mention the bird being the classic tether for Bastion to his more self-made side, rather than his programming, as well as being a cool way of showing him the idea of second chances.
Was waiting for this video, and you guys did not disappoint. Haley with the timing on the bird return. Wade with the gunshot call. Marc's gasp of the dark battlefield pop in. 100% great job yall. I'm psyched for the next couple of videos too. Blizzard does a great job in this small run of them starting right here. Super fun. "Infiltration" will be fun for you guys. Familiar characters and new ones, which will be a delight to see how you interpret. The star of it is my main :) but "Rise and Shine" "Honor and Glory" and "Shooting Star" are just a string of great stories

It'S nice to see you guys watching the cinematics, and for context it's ; Talon VS Overwatch, and Talon made overwatch disbanded by the governement. Nobody knows that except soldier 76 and Ana. Then,there's a civil war for the rights of the omnics, which was why overwatch was created : deal with omnics that went out of control, and were considered to have lost all humanity, ; their programming was made for war. We don'T know much about Talon, but certain fans thinks that it's because it's financially good for them that there is a civil war ; and there'S doomfist, that only wants war because he personnaly thinks that's the only way for humanity to progress.
I love how they think that Ganymede is a therapist for Bastion but then we remember how before this short people thought that Ganymede was the devil on bastions shoulder telling him to do bad things
Overwatch also have many different comics! Bastion has a comic called Binary [spoilers beyond this point] in which Torbjorn, a older overwatch agent finds him and defends him from people who find out about the rouge omnic patroling the forest. He takes him in and joins Torb in overwatch 2 missions
Last Bastion is one of the more emotional cinematic shorts out there. Y'all got most of the background info pretty spot on too. Bastion (the robot) was a generic unit on the robots' side of the Omnics War. That city was a human city, and Bastion's orders were to attack it (along the dozens, if not hundreds, of others like him). He somehow got decommissioned in the forest, but still in functional shape and then slept for however many years that was, until he got awakened by the bird. And you were right that the woodpecker literally triggered his PTSD of the war. I also like the bit where he's watching the caterpillar, then the bird goes to eat it and you just see his head jerk a bit, like he's startled. xD
They made a comic with Bastion and Torbjorn, Torbjorn is the one who made bastions. Basically people found the last bastion in the forest and they called for helped because they think he will start killing again, so police ask for Torbjorn to come and finish him of but he is observing him to understand why he is different and stuff or why/if he is good. And later on he takes him with him. On Overwatch 2 bastion is upgraded and lives with Torbjorn now.

This animation does such a good job of showing what ptsd is and how it changes a person and it does so, without saying anything, it’s so impressive. I think this is blizzards best animatic by far.

For more lore there is a character in the game called Torbjorn and he was actually sent to disable Bastion (the one you see here) after finding out that a Bastion Unit has managed to survive, but upon finding him he realizes he can't kill him and instead decides to protect him.
Ahhhhhhhh! So excited! You guys are in for a treat in the next ones.

torbjiorn takes him into his care, becomes friends and protects bastion after he finds him in the forest.
I think the brilliance of The Last Bastion is that because Bastion can't speak (though he communicates through musical beeps) and he doesn't really interact with anyone other than Ganymede (that's the bird, who is with him even in-game and gets a makeover for every skin of Bastion) so you have to read the body language and you have to really look at everything around them and it makes it so deep.
These cinematics are always amazing. I believe The Last Bastion won awards it was so good. They gave a robot ptsd! That’s better than freaking Wall-E
Definitely gotta agree that this was one of my favorites. So simple, so straightforward, but still managed to be powerful. Not to mention the bird being the classic tether for Bastion to his more self-made side, rather than his programming, as well as being a cool way of showing him the idea of second chances.
Was waiting for this video, and you guys did not disappoint. Haley with the timing on the bird return. Wade with the gunshot call. Marc's gasp of the dark battlefield pop in. 100% great job yall.
I'm psyched for the next couple of videos too. Blizzard does a great job in this small run of them starting right here. Super fun.
"Infiltration" will be fun for you guys. Familiar characters and new ones, which will be a delight to see how you interpret. The star of it is my main :)
but "Rise and Shine" "Honor and Glory" and "Shooting Star" are just a string of great stories

Bastion’s story is also continued in a comic, like soldier 76. Also that fight earlier was the omnic war between overwatch and the omnics.
It'S nice to see you guys watching the cinematics, and for context it's ; Talon VS Overwatch, and Talon made overwatch disbanded by the governement. Nobody knows that except soldier 76 and Ana. Then,there's a civil war for the rights of the omnics, which was why overwatch was created : deal with omnics that went out of control, and were considered to have lost all humanity, ; their programming was made for war. We don'T know much about Talon, but certain fans thinks that it's because it's financially good for them that there is a civil war ; and there'S doomfist, that only wants war because he personnaly thinks that's the only way for humanity to progress.
Cute fact, later on, in the comics, bastion gives sticks to everyone he meets, because that's the first thing he learned. Sticks = friendship
Funny thing is I dont think Bastion wants to pick sides, I think he just wants to be in the forest alone with nature

Overwatch also have many different comics! Bastion has a comic called Binary [spoilers beyond this point] in which Torbjorn, a older overwatch agent finds him and defends him from people who find out about the rouge omnic patroling the forest. He takes him in and joins Torb in overwatch 2 missions

Last Bastion is one of the more emotional cinematic shorts out there.
Y'all got most of the background info pretty spot on too.
Bastion (the robot) was a generic unit on the robots' side of the Omnics War. That city was a human city, and Bastion's orders were to attack it (along the dozens, if not hundreds, of others like him).
He somehow got decommissioned in the forest, but still in functional shape and then slept for however many years that was, until he got awakened by the bird.
And you were right that the woodpecker literally triggered his PTSD of the war.
I also like the bit where he's watching the caterpillar, then the bird goes to eat it and you just see his head jerk a bit, like he's startled. xD

They made a comic with Bastion and Torbjorn, Torbjorn is the one who made bastions. Basically people found the last bastion in the forest and they called for helped because they think he will start killing again, so police ask for Torbjorn to come and finish him of but he is observing him to understand why he is different and stuff or why/if he is good. And later on he takes him with him. On Overwatch 2 bastion is upgraded and lives with Torbjorn now.
