- If you do the math at the pump and your calculated MPG is not even close then you can go in and adjust your bias. Here I will show you how.

I learned this trick from the F150forum several years ago. Was trying to explain this to a friend at work. Will forward this video to him.
Used pretty much the same steps with my 23 key start F150 and it worked, Thank You so very much for this video, mine was showing 22.4 but actually was getting 20.1, I’m old and drive like a grand dad cause I am, Thank You again!
Watching this video today and its mind blowing that you could get 36 gallons for 80 dollars!!
MAGA
You’re a hero for showing this
Thank you for this. I have known that my '17 was off, but I didn't know that you could correct it. Now I know. 🙃
The max fuel capacity of the extended range fuel tank is 36 gallons. Either Ford can let you squeeze in a few extra gallons or your got pump robbed. My 2015 5.0 is always within a tenth of the dash
What numbers did you divide to come up with .934 to reset the bias to?
Thanks man. Look forward to your turn key guide when you get it out. Happy holidays !
That same amount of gas today where I live is $222.35.
You are not paying $6.16 a gallon. Liar.
Could be from California. The average gas price in cali is like $6-6.50/gal. Gas here in Mn was damn near $5/gal for 87 octane.
Fantastic - thank you so much. I put bigger tires on and was always figuring in my head.
You can change your tire circumference in the body control module using Forscan so everything will read correct
@@AutoDad is Forscan something you have to buy?
Which one did you get? There are so many - figured you did some good research ha.
Check out my videos on it. Just purchase the adapter for your laptop and everything else is free
Did you get a check engine light or any codes when you changed the tire circumference in bdycm? I got a P160A code on TCM and PCM so I reverted back.
Great vids man! Keep them coming!
watching this in june 2022, I wish it was $85 for 36 gallons
Holy crap. How are you getting such low mpg averages? These new trucks are quitr insane for mpg even if figuring it manually yourself at the pump. I get 22-24 onbthe highway going 60 mph. I get 20 going 77 mph on the freeway. And my average with idling and warmup with cold winters since i owned it is 17 mpg. Its basically the same for the eco and 5.0 as well.
Good video! What part of michigan are you from? I'm in the midland area.
Not far from you, Ionia
Please excuse my ignorance but if your mpg is off -- wouldn't your miles on the trip odometer be off as well? Would you need to manually, gps figure your miles and then do the math based off how many gallons you filled up with?
do you think this would work in canada with km and liters and samw math?
Is it safe and nice to drive with low oil pressure?
Can you do a metric one for all us suckers up in Canada?
How can I do this on the smaller cluster??????
I'm also lost to where you are getting these numbers from to do your math. My 2019 mpg is off. I couldn't start the truck up in the driveway and it said I had 36miles to E. I had to go fill the tank with a little bit of gas to get it started. But this video has me lost...
I mean that’s if your Speedo and all that is calibrated for your tires and all that. My truck was off by .7 . So I was usually 5 MPH faster than the Speedo stated and I would take that into account during my math. Just calibrated my ECM today.
I calibrated for my tires long before this. This corrected the DTE calculation along with EMPG
My actual was .8 lower but I noticed my actual 20.7 was read correctly under FUEL RAFE, whereas yours was not 🤔
I normally reset my trip 2. Would I use my trip 2 avg mpg? Or the fuel economy mpg
I can get up to 30 after I hit zero, will this affect the dte?
Crazy. My 5.0 gets 17 MPG, hand calculated.
There is not a metric you can show me that will prove traffic circles are a bad thing. Because the alternative stats are always much worse. Less deaths, less serious injuries, less major accidents, less multi-vehicle(more than 2) accidents. They are not perfect but if you were doing a feasibility study on replacing a circle with traffic lights, you'd have a hard case. Good video BTW I wouldn't have ever thought this was something I should or would adjust. I was under the impression that driving style played a larger effect with averages etc. Im in Canada so When I have a full tank and Im driving normal mine reads 999kms to empty. I can drive anywhere from 30kms to 200 km sending on how Im driving before I lose 1 km. When I first got the truck I was probably more heavy footed and full tank would say around 890-930s
Not impressed with your ability to keep fuel in the tank. How do people run out on purpose?
I have a question unrelated to the mpg. Since you have the 36 gallon tank does that mean that you automatically get the 373 rear end or is it the 355?
That I have no idea on
Do you know what Ford programs empty to in our trucks? I'm guessing its 1 gallon because at 13.45 mpg...and only putting in 32.33 gallons...with a 36 gallon tank...you should have had 49 miles to empty at that point instead of the 37 the gauge showed. 49 minus the 13.5 is approximately 36 so thats why I guess empty equals 1 gallon left in the tank but still just a guess.
You also have to take in account engine idle time. I have driven quite a while after the DTE gauge read 0
what is ecuation form? dont understand
Is it better to use the MPG on one tank, or the average of several tanks?
I did mine based on lifetime mileage for my truck and it's been spot on since the tweak. I was off by about 1.5mpg and now I hover around +/-0.1 mpg.
I wonder how do do this on a 2013 F350 diesel
:O Im getting 22.2mpg recently
Is there an option in engineering mode that allows you to change your speedometer/odometer for a larger tire size?
No, you have to connect and use Forscan to change tire size. Check out my videos on Forscan
@@AutoDad will Forscan void your warranty? 🎃
No
the free ForScan app can do that for you easily
I think you’re just kind of a Flock of Seagulls fan
Hi is there a mode to run fog lights with high beams? As the fog lights switch off when high beams comes on.
Yes, but you need to activate it with Forscan. Check out my other videos on it
It's called Bambi mode. But check you local state laws. It's illegal in my state as it is in many other states.
Can you recalibrate your speedometer through that maintenance menu?
No. You can set tire circumstance via Forscan though
@@AutoDad I'll see if I can find a video for 35/12.5/20 tires.
How is it you getting 500 plus miles on a full tank I’m only getting 424 miles on a full tank???
Maybe you have the 23 gallon tank?
What about the quality of fuel that the gas station purchases… winter mix, summer mix… oxygen sensor plays a big part in fuel efficiency too…
Play all you want… but remember it’s the “ENGINEERING SET Up
not
“Some guy on UA-cam Set up”
😂😂
Can you adjust speedometer in that mode?
No you need to use Forscan. I have videos on how to use it
Is your truck still accurate for you?
Yes it is
Can I adjust my speedometer for bigger tires this way?
No. I have a video on adjusting tire size with Forscan software
@@AutoDad I only went to a 295/55/20 it should not of threw it off that much but My truck was saying I was getting 17.6 and I was getting 15.3 just did plugs it it idles better now truck has 35k on it
BIG BIG mistake parking your truck in a heated garage during the winter, that will rust out in a couple of seasons
Few, good thing I don't have it anymore lol. I don't even live there anymore
13.5 mpg, that’s pretty bad.
Must be a 5-oh
It is
