Tip for cutting acrylic with laser: Go a little slower with a little less power. Gives nice edges, and reduce risk of cracking a lot.
If it catches fire, increase air assist.
You can also feed an inert gas supply to the air-assist to almost completely stop burning and overheat.

For acrylic like that, you want a 1/4” up cut, slow feed, fast speed. Then clean up with a 1/4” mill bit. You’ll get a nice smooth finish on the cuts and won’t burn chip or shatter. Also if you take an acetylene torch to it you can make those cut edges damn near completely clear and smooth instead of that blurry edge. You can torch clear the letters in the same way.
Let me know if you’d like some help with custom reservoirs, may know a thing or two about it...

I used to cut a few different kinds of plastic on a trotec lazar at an old job. their speedy series of lazars has a trap door on the front and back of the machine to allow you to put over sized work pieces on the bed, if you open the front trap door you can use compressed shop air to blow the gas, that is created from cutting plastic, away faster than the normal ventilation system can. it is normally the gas catching on fire and not the plastic it's self. I know that you are not supposed to have the door open while cutting or engraving, but it was the only way we had found to keep projects from going up in literal flames
Meanwhile DIYperks be like, let's upgrade our air cooled desk to water cooling

I'm building a desk PC right now and it was a huge pain figuring out where to place everything! It's super cool so far! It has wireless charging, ambient lighting, display mounts, a 1000w a/v receiver, and built in surge strips. All stained wood.
With the current shortages I wouldn't be too surprised if this whole rig ends up costing more than the gold Xbox controller
@@err am i gonna get rick rolled with all this directions?
They are pulling parts out of the samples that they get sent for reviews/showcases or from parts they bought in the past. So apart from the labor and desk materials this likely would have been fairly inexpensive. They aren't paying for the MB, CPU, RAM, GPU, for sure. And depending the HDPlex, the rads, and fans as well. The riser was probably already around for some reason sitting on a shelf, though it could have been part of a case they got for review/showcase.

To fix the height issue where the pumps meet the tubing you guys could possibly create a small route in the base wood it wouldnt be noticable, lowering them to the correct level. Why wouldn't you just use Polycarbonate. It's so much easier to work with. You've spent enough on scrap acrylic at this point it would've been cheaper.

A great add would be controlled airflow design. Utilizing Venturi channels at hot spots to enhance cooling. It would look cool, increase the structure integrity of the table and allow for a lot of hidden cable management. Backlight using LEDs based on airflow (speed or pressure) or temperature to see the design work. It could be a great learning tool in thermodynamics and aerodynamics.

I really love desk PCs, and this one is gonna look sick I presume xD
however unless you're a freak on cleanliness, there's a basic problem with desk PCs
you have to remove everything that's on it and have another desk beside it when you need to troubleshoot anything that needs access to the inside of your PC.
Just had a failed Ryzen 5 3600 so I know what I'm talking about ;)
OMFG I got goosebumps when u played the good old Valve Sound!!!!!
From experience I'd suggest casting acrylic into a mold for dimensional acrylic with typical secondary operations in the mold itself. Acrylic is among the most difficult plastics for multiple operations to manufacture a part due to how brittle it is. Could perhaps reach out to Volpin Props as they are phenomenal mold makers for casting.
If you need to drill holes keep it cooled and keep from "grabbing". I'd suggest a diamond hole drilling bit typically used for glass, tile, and porcelain while keeping it lubricated/cooled.
I think this is the only sponsor Linus doesn’t use a little bit, because he needs all the bulge he can get.

*Slaps Laser*

DIY Perks: This is, like, *so* last year.

His build was awsome, so minimak yet funcional
Acrylic is indeed very hard to work with
I would just make the letter in brushed alluminium and glue that to the acrylic with some 90 degree angles so you dont have to drill in the acrylic
Is there a reason why they didn't use polycarbonate for the LTT logo? As far as I know it doesn't fracture like acrylic.
also, If the text is just aesthetic, and not part of the water cooling process, does it need to be part of the ring? Why not just add it after you get a good reservoir going
because they have no idea there is 1000x better engineering plastics... and Alex seems super arrogant for someone fresh out of collage, this other guys has no idea what his doing, never use power tools on acrylic.. treat it like glass
Get a load of this guy, making his 4th "ultimate" desk pc
Love the dark mode intro
The rez may not all be trash just yet. To repair and cover accidents in/on acrylic you should try uv resin, it hardens clear. It is like liquid plexiglas that will cover/fill any minor damage and might even be able to "glue" some broken bits back together. (I do not know how well it resists pressure, but worth testing before throwing a piece away) Good luck Ps. I got mine from wish but you need a good and fairly powerful uv light to start the hardening and it gets warm/hot when hardening .

Linus should make a video where he rides segways and he says stuff like “this Segway is so smooth, and almost as smooth as my Segway to my sponsors” y’know, those types of puns.
You could use the hanjiang 17mm thin 360 radiators with some slim fans on both sides of the Desk/case for air intake and have the exhaust behind the motherboard.
