Laundry advice: I had lots of littles when babies were young, but I taught them if the want their clothes they need to put the dirt clothes in their own baskets, carry them to the basement when full and fold/put them away starting at 4-5 years old. At 11 years old they learned to wash their own clothes in the washing machine. I even leave my husband’s clothes in a clean basket to put away himself. Taking pride in your own possessions at an early age helps raise responsible adults.

I'm going to my friend's orchard tomorrow to get apples so I can make some more applesauce to can up and put on my shelf. I only have 3 pints left and that won't be enough. Thankful that your husband will help you with the laundry. I think my least favorite part is putting it away also, but I make myself do. My husband is retired now and I still work. So thankful that he will just do laundry whenever he sees something that needs to be done. I have beef bones, ham bones and chicken bones in my freezer that I really need to make into broth and get canned up.

I bet you also like Huw Richards!!! I could listen to him alllllllll day! Laundry is just a booger with little kids clothes. I am better at laundry when I can hang 90% of the stuff. When I made the decision to use those tiny kids hangers, it was life changing. I has resisted because it seemed a waste of money to buy them for only a few years of use, but I have no regrets. That said, I have plenty of closet space now. Back then, we used armoire style storage with hanging bars for my son's stuff and as a coat closet. Fall often seems more like the start of a new year than January does! And whether you sent your kids off to school or started homeschooling, your schedule was about to have a massive overhaul anyway!!! That's parenting in general... you finally get everything working smoothly or scheduled nicely, and they hit a new age and stage, and you're back to trying to find a way to make it work again! Mine is 22, still living at home after 2 years of college and now working his first job, and we're still adjusting! LOL I envy your energy and tenacity to get so much done, especially with little ones! I'm a bit older than you and have to hype myself to do a canner load of anything. So thankful we got a freeze dryer cause that has simplified my preservation immensely and we prefer the end product more in most cases too. Oh, and my commercial freezer got delivered today. Spent the evening shuffling stuff around... and now my husband is frustrated because we basically filled the new 48 cu ft freezer and will still have to keep one of the old uprights after all if we plan to hope to have venison or order half a cow. *sigh* Now I need to scour the internet for containers that fit better to make better use of the space. Hoping that will help! Anyway, loved hanging with you in the kitchen today! And I enjoy your videos in the same way you enjoy Charles Dowding!!!

After moving we visited several churches online before going in person. You learn a lot about their vision and style and it helps. It seems like it shouldn't be so hard as there are soooo many churches but it is. I pray you find a good fit for your family. : )

Thank you so much! Yes this is exactly why we are choosing to watch online. Too many churches aren’t truly preaching the gospel and following Jesus. I don’t want to get the kids used to a church to only pick up and leave in a few weeks. Online is such a great tool right now!

Hi Kelsey....im from South Africa and i have a little hack for you when making bone broth. I dont have much time in a day and am also very busy most days....we have a large family and a small kitchen....so i need my counter space.....if you know what I mean....lol so i but my bones in the pressure cooker for 40 min full it up and let it go.....but my pressure cooker is small. So the goal is to just get the bones soft and then i transfer it to a big pot add more water and let it go on the stove until its done.....this is a much quicker way of getting bone broth and doesn't take whole day.....hope that helps and that i explained it well. Love your channel by the way.

I don't own a pressure canner so I freeze dry all my broth. i used to freeze it but I love the convenience of the freeze-dried broth. I put most of it in quart jars (2 quarts dried equals one-quart liquid) that I Food Save and use a dry to dry packet to keep the powder from sticking together. I can make soup, add to casseroles or to flavor rice--all kinds of dishes. When someone is not feeling good, it is wonderful to make a quick cup of broth by just adding hot water. Love your videos. I did enjoy hanging out with you as you did your chores and canning. I have contractors in this week putting in new windows and starting on drywall and a doggy not feeling well so I haven't been able to devote the time I need to do my canning... I did get 13 pints canned this weekend of chicken and pork sirloin. Hopefully the contractors will get done by the weekend so I can start putting my house back together. Anna In Ohio

I had a pint of apple butter that didn't seal recently and I decided to try it as a filling for a sort of cinnamon roll. I spread it on the rolled out dough and sprinkled it with finely chopped apples, chopped walnuts, and chopped raisins. So good! That is a nice idea to do homemade Christmas gifts. I'm giving canned goods this year for doctors, friends, and family. It has been a great way to use up extra garden items and, although I have had to buy a ton more jars, I know that the gifts will be so very appreciated. Thanks for another great video. You've kept me company in the kitchen as I cook dinner.

Just an FYI, the National Center changed the headslace for chicken (only chicken) to 1 1/2 inches a couple of years ago. I found out last year when someone mentioned it on one of Suttons Daze live videos. They changed it because so many were having problems with siphoning.
L love raw packing chicken. I don't add any liquid, though, per their instructions.

What kind of salt do you recommend for canning?

You can use any that does not contain iodine. Canning/pickling, sea salt, kosher. I've seen some use Redman's Real Salt. I use the Morton's. Canning and Pickling salt.

Hi Kelsey do you have to thaw your chicken carcasses prior to putting them in the roaster? Or can they go in there straight from the freezer?

Those were probably not maggots in the corn. Corn worms are very common pests. The bad parts can be cut out and the rest of the ear is perfectly fine for consumption. I’ve never seen them throughout the whole ear of corn. However, if they were in the full cob like you said, then they are absolutely chicken feed. Yuck!

Good to know! There were most definitely worms throughout, there were also tiny little holes in the kernels all over. Total Yuck 😆

Are you going to make cider or vinegar with your peels and cores?

I could but honestly, I don't have the bandwidth for one more thing. At some point I'll get there!
