May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord cause His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you. May the Lord lift the light of His countenance on you and give you PEACE!
Laundry advice: I had lots of littles when babies were young, but I taught them if the want their clothes they need to put the dirt clothes in their own baskets, carry them to the basement when full and fold/put them away starting at 4-5 years old. At 11 years old they learned to wash their own clothes in the washing machine. I even leave my husband’s clothes in a clean basket to put away himself. Taking pride in your own possessions at an early age helps raise responsible adults.
I'm going to my friend's orchard tomorrow to get apples so I can make some more applesauce to can up and put on my shelf. I only have 3 pints left and that won't be enough. Thankful that your husband will help you with the laundry. I think my least favorite part is putting it away also, but I make myself do. My husband is retired now and I still work. So thankful that he will just do laundry whenever he sees something that needs to be done. I have beef bones, ham bones and chicken bones in my freezer that I really need to make into broth and get canned up.
I bet you also like Huw Richards!!! I could listen to him alllllllll day! Laundry is just a booger with little kids clothes. I am better at laundry when I can hang 90% of the stuff. When I made the decision to use those tiny kids hangers, it was life changing. I has resisted because it seemed a waste of money to buy them for only a few years of use, but I have no regrets. That said, I have plenty of closet space now. Back then, we used armoire style storage with hanging bars for my son's stuff and as a coat closet. Fall often seems more like the start of a new year than January does! And whether you sent your kids off to school or started homeschooling, your schedule was about to have a massive overhaul anyway!!! That's parenting in general... you finally get everything working smoothly or scheduled nicely, and they hit a new age and stage, and you're back to trying to find a way to make it work again! Mine is 22, still living at home after 2 years of college and now working his first job, and we're still adjusting! LOL I envy your energy and tenacity to get so much done, especially with little ones! I'm a bit older than you and have to hype myself to do a canner load of anything. So thankful we got a freeze dryer cause that has simplified my preservation immensely and we prefer the end product more in most cases too. Oh, and my commercial freezer got delivered today. Spent the evening shuffling stuff around... and now my husband is frustrated because we basically filled the new 48 cu ft freezer and will still have to keep one of the old uprights after all if we plan to hope to have venison or order half a cow. *sigh* Now I need to scour the internet for containers that fit better to make better use of the space. Hoping that will help! Anyway, loved hanging with you in the kitchen today! And I enjoy your videos in the same way you enjoy Charles Dowding!!!
After moving we visited several churches online before going in person. You learn a lot about their vision and style and it helps. It seems like it shouldn't be so hard as there are soooo many churches but it is. I pray you find a good fit for your family. : )
Thank you so much! Yes this is exactly why we are choosing to watch online. Too many churches aren’t truly preaching the gospel and following Jesus. I don’t want to get the kids used to a church to only pick up and leave in a few weeks. Online is such a great tool right now!
Your "slow" day is a busy WEEK for most people! I hear you about the chicken feet I just can't. I do the same thing for my family at the holidays - homemade candies, cookies, canned jams or knitted/crocheted items.
Hi Kelsey....im from South Africa and i have a little hack for you when making bone broth. I dont have much time in a day and am also very busy most days....we have a large family and a small kitchen....so i need my counter space.....if you know what I mean....lol so i but my bones in the pressure cooker for 40 min full it up and let it go.....but my pressure cooker is small. So the goal is to just get the bones soft and then i transfer it to a big pot add more water and let it go on the stove until its done.....this is a much quicker way of getting bone broth and doesn't take whole day.....hope that helps and that i explained it well. Love your channel by the way.
I love your channel. Like your favourite gardening channel, I find your channel has the same relaxing and calming videos. Even though you are always so busy. Thanks Kelsey. 🌷🇨🇦
I don't own a pressure canner so I freeze dry all my broth. i used to freeze it but I love the convenience of the freeze-dried broth. I put most of it in quart jars (2 quarts dried equals one-quart liquid) that I Food Save and use a dry to dry packet to keep the powder from sticking together. I can make soup, add to casseroles or to flavor rice--all kinds of dishes. When someone is not feeling good, it is wonderful to make a quick cup of broth by just adding hot water. Love your videos. Mary Born, ND
I love coffee too, and today found that I finished my first cup as I am watching your video!! Still delicious even though cold! I am working in my workshop and now watching my crockpot as I make Hot Process Shampoo bar. I find that with having a FD, I run out of jars fast. Hummmmm
Beautifully done Kelsey. My husband watched this with me and we were both impressed with what you accomplished. The jars looked beautiful and will be a wonderful addition to your pantry!
Try making apple butter waffles. Just substitute the apple butter in your banana waffle recipe. We love them. By the way we’re long distance neighbor, we’re from York County.
I love your authenticity! Life is real and you sharing both victories and challenges. You validate what real life feels and looks like. I really appreciate your hard work and your wonderful videos. New subscriber!
I did enjoy hanging out with you as you did your chores and canning. I have contractors in this week putting in new windows and starting on drywall and a doggy not feeling well so I haven't been able to devote the time I need to do my canning... I did get 13 pints canned this weekend of chicken and pork sirloin. Hopefully the contractors will get done by the weekend so I can start putting my house back together. Anna In Ohio
I had a pint of apple butter that didn't seal recently and I decided to try it as a filling for a sort of cinnamon roll. I spread it on the rolled out dough and sprinkled it with finely chopped apples, chopped walnuts, and chopped raisins. So good! That is a nice idea to do homemade Christmas gifts. I'm giving canned goods this year for doctors, friends, and family. It has been a great way to use up extra garden items and, although I have had to buy a ton more jars, I know that the gifts will be so very appreciated. Thanks for another great video. You've kept me company in the kitchen as I cook dinner.
Just an FYI, the National Center changed the headslace for chicken (only chicken) to 1 1/2 inches a couple of years ago. I found out last year when someone mentioned it on one of Suttons Daze live videos. They changed it because so many were having problems with siphoning. L love raw packing chicken. I don't add any liquid, though, per their instructions.
Kelsey I recently bought a steam juicer. You should look into one! Total game changer. You get apple juice (or whatever fruit). Then the apples are cooked down and is easy to run through the sieve for applesauce/apple butter . 2 products in one!
Lot accomplished! So nice that Eleanor likes to help by setting the table! Of course Grant is just a bucket of smiles! Love to watch your easiness of getting chores done, I seem to struggle since I have gotten older with getting as much done as I think I should be doing! Hope you made those biscuits to enjoy that wonderful apple butter! Thanks for sharing your weekend with us. Blessings!
I’m not preserving or homeschooling like you are and my washing gets on top of me too! We’re also doing the change of season wardrobe here too, although being in Australia it’s from winter to summer, and I’m in the middle of donating the kids outgrown clothes and restocking in the next size up. It feels good when it’s done but boy does it make a mess!!
What a glorious batch of canning. Sundays are my get stuff ready for the week day too. I think doing what I can makes the next few days a little less chaotic. Lol. Good luck for homeschooling. I was never brave enough to try it.
We just lost our dog and we referred to him and my daughter as Peter and shadow all the time. They were 2 peas in a pod. Although your mention made me cry, I know that was meant to find me…the Lord works in mysterious ways.
Kelsey, you are such a calming influence, and it's a pleasure watching and learning from your channel. It's always fun seeing the little one as well😊. You're a blessing, and I pray you find a new church community that meets your family's needs.
Homesteading goals! We have 8 kids and are building our homestead from scratch. So much to do and learn, my head is constantly spinning. One day I might have it all together ... maybe lol
It didn't happen overnight for me, its been 6 years in the making and I'm a firm believer in you never stop learning. I still have so much I'd like to learn. One day at a time ❤
I make my applesauce in the crockpot, it's so good hot! I then leave some cups in the crock and keep it on low/warm keep stirring so it doesn't burn and basically makes the remainder into apple butter
❤ Charles Dowding is like the David Attenborough of gardening to me. I can fall asleep if I am tired or chuckle to their subtle humor if I am having coffee! I love all of your videos! Thanks for sharing!
My daughter keeps the skins on and when its cooked she uses her immersion blender to blend it. That is what i will do and keep the cores for apple cider vinegar.
Our church in Rochester NY streams the services. It's called The Father's House. I moved to Rochester 6 years ago and finally found one I love. Good luck to you and your family! Love your videos!! ❤
For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them. Matthew 18:20 No shame in taking your time in finding a new church. Praying you guys find the right church soon!
Just and fyi to anyone watching this bone broth is great for the gut unless you have a histamine intolerance and even some with sibo will have issues with it. Kelsey I love your videos. They’re so calm and relaxing. Much love and blessings.
9:43 Have you ever tried roasting your carcasses and vegetables in the roaster before adding water? I sometimes do that when making a sipping broth vs a broth to cook with. I really like the depth of flavor roasting gives it.
You just Luton the gardening show and my immediate thought was, "I get she'd like Monty Don!" 😂 And it turns out, you already do! My daughter and I enjoy watching him here on BBC.
Whenever I buy a whole chicken, it comes with a neck, and two feet inside. I save them up for soup stock. They are very clean and trimmed. I had a mental block to them too but they disintegrate in the broth as if they were never there.
Perhaps if I just purchased some in a package, but removing them from the birds after you've watched them walk and lay in their own filth for 8 weeks makes me wanna barf 🤣
Folding laundry is also the bane of my existence 😅 but it has to be done and after you get done with it it's so satisfying 💕 I really need to try apple butter, looks delicious and must smell wonderful.
FYI, be careful with wooden skewers. I had a friend who got a wooden sliver in her throat from Chinese wooden skewer. Maybe use a fancier finished chop stick.
That’s too bad. Our scalder is full immersion so the feet are peeled when they’re in the plucker. Feet make the very best broth, ever! It tastes so good!
I don't know how much that apple peeler/corer, slicer might cost, but I bought the attachment for my kitchenaid mixer, and it cost me about $79. You can do that batch of apples in 10 minutes, total. It might be worth looking into!
Do you pressure can the Apple sauce or cold water can? great video loved it Laundry is difficult to keep up with. especially the ironing. love to all xxx
Thank you for keeping it real regarding chicken feet! 😂 Also free corn is usually barn animal feed. My husband doesn’t understand why I shuck corn outside, but it’s so I can snap off tops that aren’t edible for animals rather than let anything fall in my kitchen. Charles Dowding - YES! When you start your videos, can you remind me what zone and state you’re gardening within? Thank you! 😊
I could tell from your reaction about the corn that you feel the same way about maggots that i do. It's so rough when you find something like that. I know its part of nature and we need them..but..yuck. they are so unsettling. Im sorry you had to deal with that. Truly. I felt it. ❤
I really enjoy watching your videos of you and your family. Thanks for sharing everything that you do. I tried to use your Amazon link below, but it wouldn't work. I would happily purchase items through your link if I could connect.
Just found your channel. Was it a personal preference on the broth in the chicken? The NCHFP says not to add liquid and the leave 1 1/2 inch headspace. I’m not a chicken feet person either. They walk around in a mess!
Lol my laundry gets that bad too. Don’t feel bad there’s more people out there like that and worse. I know one person that refuses to wash his clothes. Disgusting yes
If you want to keep your hangers more organized, I have an idea. Take a box & cut a hole in a long side from top to bottom, middle. Put the neck of the hangers in the slot, & there you have it! Easy to carry & store. ❤ But I totally feel your laundry pile pain as I stand here staring at mine!!
You can use any that does not contain iodine. Canning/pickling, sea salt, kosher. I've seen some use Redman's Real Salt. I use the Morton's. Canning and Pickling salt.
Those were probably not maggots in the corn. Corn worms are very common pests. The bad parts can be cut out and the rest of the ear is perfectly fine for consumption. I’ve never seen them throughout the whole ear of corn. However, if they were in the full cob like you said, then they are absolutely chicken feed. Yuck!
Your channel is one of those “calm, relaxing yet informative” channels for me. You are a blessing and thank you for sharing.
🤍 I’m honored, thank you!
May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord cause His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you. May the Lord lift the light of His countenance on you and give you PEACE!
Thank you friend, may it be also for you ❤
I find you videos both relaxing and informative. Thanks for taking the time to share!
If you have multiple freezers it would be wise to get a back up generator in caae you lose power. If you havent already😊
It's wonderful that your mom helps you homeschool! This video was so relatable, especially the laundry 😂🙃 Thanks so much for sharing 💕
Get you a kitchen aid spiralizer attachment! One of the best investments we've made and soooo much less mess!

After watching this video I decided to try canning unsweetened applesauce and apple butter. Both turned out delicious!! Thank you for your videos!
Woohoo! That’s awesome, enjoy 🤍
Hi! We love Alan Titchmarsh too, one of our favourite gardeners in the U.K.

Honestly Kelsey, the thought of boiling and skinning chickens' feet is too much for me! I seriously would lose my lunch.
LOL right, I’ll pass.
That got me a bit queasy. I have to draw the line somewhere.
You are great at organizing your time. Thank you for all the tips you've given us. Your channel is a joy to watch.
For all of us, you have helped to set the stage for Fall!! Thank you. I think I have to go and grab some cinnamon right now!

I used chicken feet in my last broth I made and it was the best I’ve ever made.
Maybe one day I’ll be brave enough, but today was not that day 😂
You are an amazing mama and homemaker. I love your channel.

Thank you so much 🤍🤍🤍
That how I do my folding time also . My kids are older now and they actually do their own everyone has a laundry day
You are just in a season of life
True! I'm sure one day I'll long for all the little clothes piled up ❤
Most definitely you will
Just and fyi to anyone watching this bone broth is great for the gut unless you have a histamine intolerance and even some with sibo will have issues with it. Kelsey I love your videos. They’re so calm and relaxing. Much love and blessings.
Aw thank you Heather! That is good to know! Blessings ❤
9:43 Have you ever tried roasting your carcasses and vegetables in the roaster before adding water? I sometimes do that when making a sipping broth vs a broth to cook with. I really like the depth of flavor roasting gives it.
Onion peels and skins make a beautiful color in the broth...
Good to know! Next time!
You just Luton the gardening show and my immediate thought was, "I get she'd like Monty Don!" 😂 And it turns out, you already do! My daughter and I enjoy watching him here on BBC.
My favorites! He and Monty Don make me want to curl up with a cozy blanket, make a cup of tea and dream of beautiful spaces!
I so enjoy your videos they are so peaceful to me.
I’m so glad to hear this, thank you 🤍
Very exciting when I have to get new jars. Means the pantry is getting full for the off season!!
It is exciting! Lots of good stuff to eat ☺️🤍
I honestly could not keep up with you if my life depended on it. You’re amazing!
❤ Thank you. Blessings ❤
I'm with you on the chicken feet! Those can be dried and given to the dog ( or a friend with a dog).
Right?! They currently get used by some hunters as bait!
i'm right there with ya on the chicken feet.... just cant do it!
Good fan
❤
I have one of those apple peelers looks identical 😊
Whenever I buy a whole chicken, it comes with a neck, and two feet inside. I save them up for soup stock. They are very clean and trimmed. I had a mental block to them too but they disintegrate in the broth as if they were never there.
If you have a kitchen aid mixer, they have an apple corer/peeler attachment.
Looks beautiful. Yummy
Thank you!
Haha. Glad im not the only one that lets the laundry pile up like that! Most days we are living out of the piles strewn about the house 😂
Definitely not alone 🤍🤍🤍
I do the chicken feet - creeps my kids out but they don’t mind the broth lol. I just dump them from the package into the instant pot.
Perhaps if I just purchased some in a package, but removing them from the birds after you've watched them walk and lay in their own filth for 8 weeks makes me wanna barf 🤣
Folding laundry is also the bane of my existence 😅 but it has to be done and after you get done with it it's so satisfying 💕
I really need to try apple butter, looks delicious and must smell wonderful.
ugh that laundry. It is a nice feeling when its done, if only it would stay done. 🤣
FYI, be careful with wooden skewers. I had a friend who got a wooden sliver in her throat from Chinese wooden skewer. Maybe use a fancier finished chop stick.
Ohhhh I never would have thought! Thanks for the tip!
@@seedandsparrowhomestead your welcome.
That’s too bad. Our scalder is full immersion so the feet are peeled when they’re in the plucker. Feet make the very best broth, ever! It tastes so good!
I’ve tasted both and honestly I couldn’t tell a difference, however, I’m sure there are great health benefits!
I don't know how much that apple peeler/corer, slicer might cost, but I bought the attachment for my kitchenaid mixer, and it cost me about $79. You can do that batch of apples in 10 minutes, total. It might be worth looking into!
Oh man I’m gonna check that out! Thank you 🤍
And I believe a lot less waste with the kitchen aid.
I love homeward bound😂
Such a good movie! ❤

Hahahahaha ❤️

When it comes to chicken feet I just cook them up cut off the nails and use them for dog food My Border Collie just loves them
I make apple butter bbq
Oh Yum!
Do u ever use the apple peelings and cores for apple jelly? They make wonderful jelly. 😊
I'm the same way about chicken feet, I make my broth like you. I also have an issue with fish/ sea food. I can't eat them, I know what they swim in.🤢
Don’t you love having freeze dried broth on hand?!? Way better than canning it. Well, maybe not way better but easier and def a space saver.
YES! It’s so versatile and easy to use and store! Definite space saver!
I really enjoy watching your videos of you and your family. Thanks for sharing everything that you do. I tried to use your Amazon link below, but it wouldn't work. I would happily purchase items through your link if I could connect.
Thank you so very much! I'll check out the link and get it fixed! I appreciate it ❤
Just found your channel. Was it a personal preference on the broth in the chicken? The NCHFP says not to add liquid and the leave 1 1/2 inch headspace.
I’m not a chicken feet person either. They walk around in a mess!
If you have a Menards in your area they have great prices on quart and pint jars!
I wish! We have Walmart and Redners around is, neither is great price wise 😬
Lol my laundry gets that bad too. Don’t feel bad there’s more people out there like that and worse. I know one person that refuses to wash his clothes. Disgusting yes
So glad I’m not alone 🤍
If you want to keep your hangers more organized, I have an idea. Take a box & cut a hole in a long side from top to bottom, middle. Put the neck of the hangers in the slot, & there you have it! Easy to carry & store. ❤ But I totally feel your laundry pile pain as I stand here staring at mine!!
Thanks for the tip! Maybe one day we will have more space! 😂🤍
Walmart has the mason jars on sale right now! Pints and quarts
ohhh I'm looking now! Thanks!
Of course, I just got some last week!
fold your laundry outside. it helps me so much. plus then i can't leave it outside, so it has to get put away.
Oh thats a thought! Perhaps next time when it isn't raining!
Cozy and Charles Dowding go hand in hand don’t you think?
Absolutely, I just want to curl up with a blanket and hot drink whenever he is on the tv 😂

What kind of salt do you recommend for canning?
You can use any that does not contain iodine. Canning/pickling, sea salt, kosher. I've seen some use Redman's Real Salt. I use the Morton's. Canning and Pickling salt.
Hi Kelsey do you have to thaw your chicken carcasses prior to putting them in the roaster? Or can they go in there straight from the freezer?
I throw em in frozen! You can do either. 🤍
Yuck!
Good to know! There were most definitely worms throughout, there were also tiny little holes in the kernels all over. Total Yuck 😆
Are you going to make cider or vinegar with your peels and cores?
I could but honestly, I don't have the bandwidth for one more thing. At some point I'll get there!
