I appreciate and enjoy this channel so very much! No doomsday fear mongering, no budget challenges of 37 meals for $4.62 … just a lovely wife and mother doing her thing, training children in life skills, providing for her family and sharing thoughts with us. Jessica, thank you!
Very well put. I love her calm demeanor, her beautiful family and even though I’m an older mom with grown children, I learn so much that I am implementing in my own kitchen and sharing with my kids so they have this knowledge as they begin their own families. Such a blessing❤️
I taught my son to cook when he was 6. Now he is 18 & a phenomenal cook. I will never have to worry about him not being able to cook. It is so much easier to teach them when young. Once he was capable of cooking independently he started cooking every Tuesday night. Every time I get sick, he sends me to bed and takes over. A child being able to step up and help when needed just makes them a good family member who thinks about others. You are doing such a wonderful job raising your babies into beautiful people.
When those children go out in the world they will have all the skills needed for a fulfilling life. Wish every child had that opportunity and those skills. Beautiful video.
I talk about you all the time to my husband when I'm copying different projects you've taught me. I've called you my friend in Ohio and he rolls his eyes and says I can't call people I watch on UA-cam my friends. So I corrected and said My Sister in Christ in Ohio. 😄 He can't deny that one!!!! I so appreciate you sister!
Jessica, can I just say how absolutely relaxing it is when I see you posted a video!!! It's my ME time to just take 20-25 minutes all to myself!! You are one amazing woman!!! Happy Sunday Funday to you and your beautiful family!!! ❤❤❤❤🌻🌻🌻🌻👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍
Jessica, I love your family! We no longer have littles, but raised 5 boys, and they all can cook, sew a button, and know how to clean. It is SO important!! You are doing a great job with your family, let the naysayers say what they will, but your children will know how to be responsible adults!! Thank you so much for sharing!
I so agree. Having children learn the basics of real life is a good thing!! Being able to cook, clean do laundry ( so they don’t ruin all their clothes later in life) is a blessing to them!!!
Yay! Omg can I just say I love watching your pregnancy progress. You are absolutely glowing. I seriously don't know how you do it. I'm 42 and in my overly dramatic head I think omg I would die being pregnant at 42. Although I have 1 son who is 18 so very different headspace. I would love to have had a big family like you but it's always just been my son and I. I'm extremely grateful for my son so zero regrets and I get the pleasure of having 20-25 new children each year. So I got my big family another way. So it's all a blessing.
My son was in the kitchen with me and my mom-he learned by watching and helping. He is an amazing chef today. It is a skill that will be with yours for their lifetimes. You’re preparing them well. As always, your videos make my Sunday.
I've been watching your old videos since I recently found you. You teach so well! My Nana would be proud of you. When I was newly married, I was at her house peeling potatoes with a paring knife. I got scolded for cutting too much flesh from the potato! I kinda rolled my eyes inside (not really). Then I realized what hard times she lived through and how my own Mom didn't learn from her. I absolutely love your family values and ways of providing for your family. Thank you ❤️
That fireplace stove is amazing! Every time we see your pantry it looks so full. I'm a retired chef 28 years however Rochelle and I both still work from our home. When I finally retire in a couple years I'm going to be doing a lot more canning and fermenting. We just did a video on our channel on home made spicy and onion bacon ketchup and they came out great. Our Granddaughter is now home schooling with us. You checklist system looks great. Rochelle does the same as well and we share the work. Teaching the kids is a major blessing. Our Granddaughter is 11 and she is a real good cook. We really enjoy your channel and look forward to the next one. God Bless, Mike
Jessica , you never cease to amaze me with your frugality and intelligence. When I look at apple cores and peels I see compost not jelly or vinegar-you have a true talent in that ability. Frugality is not penny-pinching like Ebenezer Scrooge, it’s utilizing every single shred of what you have and you are the best I’ve ever seen in doing just that.
I LOVE how much your children help the family and each other. Its precious to see the older kiddos be patient with the little ones, and help them learn.
You are absolutely correct-teaching your children how to cook, clean, do laundry, etc. is pretty much the most loving and intelligent gift you can give them. I wish schools put more emphasis on the skills needed in everyday life as an adult-cooking, grocery shopping, gardening, food preservation, home maintenance of all sorts, and how to budget-those skills are essential to live independently as adults. I raised my kids with the end result in mind-I didn’t raise children, I raised adults just like you are doing. Your end game is the same as mine-turn out educated, intelligent, courteous, and loving adults.
I totally agree with you. Instead of teaching algebra or fractions teach them how to boil an egg, cook pasta, make soup. How to open a bank account, shop on a budget, talk to a doctor or speak properly on the phone. I raised my 2 boys this exact way. It's called 'life skills' I wish they would add it to the curriculum at schools.
Schools rely on parents to teach life skills. But the sad truth is that after a long day of school and sports, there is barely any time or energy left to do that
@@carinthiamontana7069 you have a very valid point, and I have to say there were many, many days where neither me or my children had the time or energy to dive into how to change a tire. Thank you for your comment, it is a very good point and one I didn’t think of even though it did occur.
This is a great example of how families living away from the test of the world have endless love for family members ❤️ they are close to one another cause they are all they have without outside interruptions. I love your lifestyle Jessica and the love you all share with they outside world. Thank you all kids to cause I come from a large very close family as well but I like your family's lifestyle more and wish I could have raised my own away from the rest of the world to implant more of my own teachings into them. My oldest is 35 but after moving away from the house she wanted to learn more about sewing and cooking and everything else. Love you video's Jessica thank you so much... 😘
LOLOL!!!❤❤❤ Little brother “helping” push Gabe’s arm when there is a heavy load to push! Jessica, thank you for sharing such a beautiful wholesome look at your family. Praying for you and baby and family! Enjoying everything you show us🥰
I only have 4 children, all boys. They all have and have had for a while the same types of chores your children have. You are giving them skills so they can survive on their own and that to me is successful parenting. Your doing a great job and you definitely inspire me to do more. Thank you!
Your little one helping to push the wagon was so precious 🥰 I just made your pie filling recipe with arrowroot, and it came out incredible! Next, I'm making pumpkin powder how you showed too. Thank you!!
Gabe is so good with his brothers. All your children seem to really love each other. I think it's great that you are teaching them all to help out. It takes everyone working together to make a family work. You look so good Jessica. Be blessed friend.
Thank you as always for another instructive and inspiring video. I taught a German class last night using my Great Grandma's Apple Kuchen recipe. Each Apple Cake used 4 apples. The ladies went to throw away the cores and I was like noooo. So many uses thanks to you. (We also did Rye bread, Knodel from scratch Schnitzel, Sauerkraut, and Spätzle.) Living on Guam there's not a lot of opportunity to eat German food. It was fun to watch 12 women realize they could do this too. I just shared your video with a friend that loves to make spice combinations I think she'll enjoy your season salt experiment. Watching your kids clean the wood stove brought back child hood memories of being the one in charge of our fireplace. I think it's a farm life thing. My brother and I were talking about your videos and relating it to our childhood on a farm. It was just expected that we would have chores each day, feeding the animals, helping in the garden, cleaning the fireplace. It was a great way to be raised. Have a great week. I hope the nesting challenge continues to be productive.
Good afternoon Ms. Jessica. Every Sunday, I look so forward to watching your videos. I wish I would have trained my daughter the way you did. Her dad is Indian passed in March. I did everything for her. Not realizing it would hurt her in the future. In the Indian culture . As a mother we are supposed to do everything for our children. I followed what her dad taught me. It's not a case of failure or could be. But not having the appropriate guidance. Watching your children just amazes me every time I see them. God bless you for giving them every opportunity to teach them life skills. May God continue to watch over you and your family always Aameen.
I helped my Mom in the kitchen while growing up and as an adult I was shocked to find that several of my friends had no clue how to cook for themselves. It's great that you're teaching your kids to be self-sufficient adults. I'm just learning how to can and I started with pickles and just canned my first applesauce. Next year I'll try your oven-roasting method, tho! 😄
My mom never taught me much of any housekeeping skills. She was all fast food and quick mixes. I still don't cook very well and also have a lot to learn about basic domestic chores and I am in my 40's.
Your videos bring such a calm, motivating start to my week. I am so glad you are feeling good and seem to be giving yourself grace during the later weeks of pregnancy! Your family works so well together as a team. I love watching your children grow and take on new responsibilities... they clearly take after their incredible parents. Thanks for sharing with us
I have 5 children, all grown up now. All of our kids would help with chores around the house and they all loved cooking. They are all 18 plus now and are all amazing cooks. Their partners didn’t have a similar upbringing as most of them had everything done for them. My kids are so happy that they were taught to do things before they left home. When my youngest was about 3 years old, her favourite thing to do was to help cut up vegetables for dinner that night. She would love to cut carrots, broccoli, beans etc. Not once did she cut herself either. I truly admire your parenting ❤
I love what you are doing with teaching your children to be very competent adults! Both my husband and I were from large families. I was one of the older ones in my home. It taught me to love my family and many skills I might not have had if I had been reared differently. Thank you for all you are teaching us too! Love it all! Roberta
I grew up this way. It is comforting to watch your videos, it takes me back to a time when my Mother was young, or when my children were young. I live this way, first as a child, then with children of my own, who have grown and flown, and finally now with a small family unit. I am shocked that this is not how everyone lives.
Good morning 🙏😊 What a blessing you are to so many! It is good to see your family thriving and learning . Thanks again for such a great video! Have a blessed day 🙏
Your children are learning how to live when they are adults. We have used wood to heat our home for over 50yrs.Wood heat can,t be beat.we too raised our own meat. We raised four children on a small farm. I am so glad they had that experience.
I do admire the way the kids work together. When I was growing up I was the family slave. Every chore in the house was thrown at me so I swore I would never do that to my kids, and I didn't. I did not give them any chores. They helped when they felt like it. I'm not complaining about my kids. They are wonderful. It was my fault. I should have taught them more household chores for their sake as well as my own. There is a happy balance somewhere in there. I wish I had found it. Looks like you have.
I used to houseclean for this Jewish family and the week before thanksgiving when I showed up she asked if I could also do the downstairs bath which was primarily used by her 26 yr old son who lived at home still. As she said this to me, he was laying on the couch wrapped up in a shawl, with the remote control in his hand. I just looked at her and said frankly.. " I think your grown son will have to clean his own bathroom for the guests. Sorry." That guy was babied to the point of being utterly useless.
Something truly beautiful yet again with your family raising, your teaching them so much skills it’s a blessing!! Learning to cook 👩🍳 is huge life skill! They are so lucky to be learning this.. love how chores are divided and rotated, so much learning! What a wonderful family and values to learn.. i think life gets to busy and competitive these days, going simple and educational is such a blessing! I had none these skills growing up. Believe me once I got married I wish I had lol 😂 😂 ❤ Thank you for sharing your beautiful family and lessons!
My go to channel for all things life, canning, and so much more, is this channel. I'm currently making pie filling and when needing the recipe. I come here. I cannot thank you enough, Jessica. You have taught me so so much. I am so grateful.
I so appreciate your perspective on raising children. I’m devoted to raising a kind and capable adult, and that starts from a very young age. My 4.5 year old loves to help in the kitchen. I’m expecting any day now, and I did tons of meal prep so that husband can handle most of the cooking (throw in crock pot/oven) while I rest up and establish breastfeeding. Our church also does a meal train for new moms, which is much appreciated.
It’s so sweet to see how your family works together. I need to give my children more opportunities to help around the home-you’re such a good example of this!
Your children learn many lessons from contributing to the household, & it's a huge blessing for them. Besides the skills themselves, they learn that if every family member contributes what they're able, life is better & more joyful for everybody.
Love how you are training & educating your children. They work as a team as they should. They are seeing how blessed they truly are. Loving all the apple recipes🍎 You have some great helpers there! 🤗👍
I used to use that exact food mill when I was Elizabeth's age to process tomato juice. I never knew to spin it by the handle to scrape down the sides of the cone! 67 years old and still learning...even from a 10 (?) Year old. Great job mom!
Never a dull moment in your life! You are raising lovely children!! I so just love your channel Jessica you are looking well and very pregnant hope you feel well!
From my Mom:. Love your children. They watch out for the younger ones. The boys are especially great letting the little ones do the chores, taking longer, but they are patient. Have to add how helpful and kind the girls are
Watching you, makes me miss the homeschooling days all my children have grown. But come December my grandson coming in the world. I get start home schooling again.
I'm sure that there are some arguments & fights but your family gets along beautifully! I love to see the interaction & helping each other. We always helped my mom in the kitchen but I never made anything by myself before I got married. It worked out fine because I had watched Mom so much but your children are much more independent & confident than I was. It's great to see!
I promise you that teaching your children these skills will pay endless rewards to both them and you. My children have used their home learned skills to support them through tough times.
Have you ever thought about a Three Rivers Cookbook? Or something like a printout smaller version? Just a thought. You have a beautiful family. How the olders help the littles is so precious.
Love watching you with your children. It's the same thing around here! We also use Abeka and really enjoy it. I'm so thankful to have all my children home with me and love seeing others enjoy it as well. God bless you and your family!
Jessica. You have an amazing family. At the beginning I was admiring the littlest one trying to help. Little Benjamin loves to be involved. I have nothing but admiration for you all.
I'm a city girl that has moved out to rural Victoria Australia five years ago. We have a wood burner as our only source of heat and we love it. However, when we first moved in, we had no idea how to use it, what wood to use and how to light it!!!!! It took a couple of winters to sort it out, but I think we've got the hang of it now 😄
How is Ben's potty training? John is adorable. I'm so proud of Levi big boy steps. It is so wonderful to see the children practicing life skills and learning them. Coming from a very large family, our parents made sure we ALL knew how clean the house, do dishes (by hand...although I will tell you, I LOVE my dishwasher), do laundry and iron it and cook. All of us, boys and girls knew all these skills. We were so many we had to share the load, specially during school brakes. The only skill I had to learn later in life on my own, was driving and keeping a balanced check book. I love seeing your children working in harmony. Sure, there are times they rub elbows, but it is all part of growing up. I love you guys. Hugs!!
This just happen to pop up in my feed. I really enjoyed this. I really liked how your kids helped out so much. They weren't just sitting on there Cell phone or Tablet. You Guys are Awesome. Thanks for Sharing.
I would love for you to share how you organize your kitchen (aside from your preserved food and freezers) and other parts of your home. How do you keep hand me downs, etc.? Thank you for all the great ideas and tips that you share. You're an inspiration.
It’s a very healthy approach to teach children to take responsibility for making meals and running a home. “Teach a person to fish and they”ll never go hungry”.
The little one helping with his mismatched gloves. So sweet, reminds me of mine when they were young. You are looking well Jessica, prayers for an uneventful last few weeks of your pregnancy.
Last year I put up too many jars of apple jelly from the peals and cores, apple sauce and apple butter and not enough of sliced apples. This year I canned sliced apple only. Canning is my favorite hobby and has helped me relax with my 75 year old mom and just enjoy. Watching your videos is a blessing to my heart. Watching you work while raising children in a positive loving environment is a blessing. God is amazing how he provides for his children.
I love having my Sunday morning coffee watching your videos. It’s awesome how your family all work together to get things done. Reminds me of my childhood and how we all worked together on the farm.
Your children are so blessed to have you and your husband as parents. Thank you for sharing your beautiful family with us. I know it is a blessing to so many out there just to see that this type of family culture exists and really is a tangible way of life if they seek after it. It is an encouragement to me and so many others. Thank you for all you do and for the great info and ideas you share with us! God bless you and your wonderful family!💜
New to your channel, I really enjoyed your channel. I can tell your children are very welled mannered. I know your glad to have all that help. It’s nice to see children learning how to do chores around the house. Thank you for sharing.
So many sweet moments in this video. I love to see your family interactions or between siblings. It truly is a blessing to watch. The little boys are so funny with their little chore. I’ll try making the seasoning salt. I’m sure is delicious.
Hello Jessica, I love all your videos! Last year I made this pie filling, but with peaches instead. All winter I would dump out a jar, add whatever fresh fruit I had on hand, and we had delicious fruit salad! I used honey instead of sugar, using half the quantity. It worked great. I also was thrilled to see you on the cover of the homestead magazine that recently arrived. Please keep doing what you do.
I haven't been fortunate enough to see all of your videos, however from what I've seen, it seems as if you have at least 10 children. I may be way off and exaggerate, but even 4 is enough to keep a mom busy. Even multi tasking how do you do it? I guess you grew up learning how to take aware of a large family. I commend you for all the work you do. I gre up raising g my little brothers, however, I was raised in the city where everything is microwave style and TV dinners etc. Did not get on my knees and plant a seed to grow my own fruits and vegetables. Bravo to you and your family. More power to you. I learn something g new every time I watch your videos. Thank you for teaching us how to survive.
🇦🇺A couple of Christmas’s ago I made a recipe book with favourite family recipes. Main meals, desserts and party favourites. In photobook I printed a book with each grandchild’s name, ie Thomas’s recipe book 1. It had an index, pictures for every recipe and who’s recipe it was . Some recipes where my mum’s and some from each daughter. Dannielle makes a great spinach meatloaf that’s green. I also included how to make a gravy from scratch, home made custard, mashed potatoes, honey carrots etc. basic stuff they can use. My grandchildren loved it.
I love how your children help, including that beautiful little baby, how cute, you’re a fantastic mom, with beautiful children, I just love you and your family, I love how kind your children are, a beautiful thing to see❤
You are teaching your children life skills I call it. So fantastic cooking, cleaning and organisational skills. What a fantastic job. I did a similar thing when mine were growing up. We lost my husband 2 years ago due to genical illness. I also was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer early this year. I have 2 kids plus a lot of their friends call us mum and dad. I am so proud of how they help me know. I live between the 2 of them with their families. They help me with my medical and financial and living needs so proud of them. Your children make my heart sing they are so willing to take on life you should be so proud. Fantastic parents you both are xx
😍 amazing genius!!! Love your videos !!! Btw I love that you do the voice over instead of just music playing, for the most part I just listen to UA-cam while I'm doing things so I can't watch what the creator is doing unless something you say catches my ear and I pull phone out to look
Beautiful. The importance of a stay at home mother. I've never made apple scrape jelly. I bet it would be good for apple juice concentrate too. God bless you.
Hi, you are an amazing mom, teacher but so organized you rMom must have taught you so well, you are a true blessing and these children will go out into the world with the skills in life that most children don’t have! God bless you❤
I’m new to canning and used regular apples this year to make jelly and was super disappointed with how much waste it created. Live and learn! Love the idea of using the apple scraps to make the juice for the jelly!! Next year I’ll be sure to do do it this way!! I also learned about pomonas pectin from your channel and I really like the product/recipe book. Thanks for teaching me from afar, Love ur channel! Your children are going to have a ton of wonderful skills by the time they are ready to tackle the world as young adults! Bravo mama!

I really wish there were more like this. Jessica is real. No hype just life and learning.
Those ridiculous budget challenges. I understand the concept, but not relevant to most of us.
So calming to watch. Which is amazing considering how much is going on.

It’s wonderful that your children are such a help to you. You have done a great job teaching the kids how to be self sufficient.
Your videos bring such a calm, motivating start to my week. I am so glad you are feeling good and seem to be giving yourself grace during the later weeks of pregnancy! Your family works so well together as a team. I love watching your children grow and take on new responsibilities... they clearly take after their incredible parents. Thanks for sharing with us
Gabriel seems like a very hard worker! What a blessing!
Love how you train and prepare your children to work together and become responsible, independent young people and adults.♥️
I wish I’d known you while my children were young; I’m a mom of 7, and some of your tips would have made my life easier. God Bless you.
It is so sweet to see how well the children work together.
This video changed my life! I had no idea how to clean the windows of my fireplace! I tried it immediately and was absolutely amazed! I never knew!!
Good morning 🙏😊
What a blessing you are to so many!
The kids loving and caring for each other is so special! 🥰
Believe me once I got married I wish I had lol 😂 😂 ❤
Thank you for sharing your beautiful family and lessons!
I love how your children are so loving toward one another!!
I just adore how your children love on each other. What a marvelous family
My dear Mom was a wonderful multi-tasker. She did that for 7 of us. Oh, when I watch you I think of my Mom. She was a good women, an good Mom.
Bless those sweet children working together and loving each other
I used to use that exact food mill when I was Elizabeth's age to process tomato juice.
Have to add how helpful and kind the girls are
Your children are so beautiful, and their relationships with each other are so precious. This is my dream! You must be so tired, but so proud
Watching you, makes me miss the homeschooling days all my children have grown. But come December my grandson coming in the world. I get start home schooling again.
I can’t wait to see the children do more of the cooking. Amazing skills for them and a much needed help to you.
That’s a brilliant idea! I would so buy 2! 😁
Hello from Ukraine, as a mother of three I can understand how much work you have behind the scenes
Hugs!!
Ben is doing well!! Thank you for asking ☺️
Love how the big boys are helping the younger boys!! So cute!
I love that you're getting all the children involved in cooking and meal prep. It makes them competent and capable, plus giving you a break!
I love the fast forward fluid motion of wiping the rims ... That on a loop would be a great as a satisfying video for relaxation
What an awesome, peaceful mom you are ❤️🙌
I love having my Sunday morning coffee watching your videos.
Such a wonderful thing to pass on these skills to the kids 🙌 💞
Love seeing the littles involved - chores are fun at the age.😍
So many sweet moments in this video. I love to see your family interactions or between siblings. It truly is a blessing to watch. The little boys are so funny with their little chore. I’ll try making the seasoning salt. I’m sure is delicious.
Wow! This week's video was PACKED with great tips and ideas. Thank you for always having wonderful content Jessica.
What a great attitude you have towards interruptions! It's encouraging to me!
I love how your children help, including that beautiful little baby, how cute, you’re a fantastic mom, with beautiful children, I just love you and your family, I love how kind your children are, a beautiful thing to see❤
I love how your children help with everything you are truly blessed ❤
Love how ou use things like apple scraps to make jelly! Nothing goes to waste!!!!! Wonderful motto!!!!!!
Jessica... You are just SO inspiring. Thank you so much sharing your life, your family and all your great home care tips.
Bravo mama!
My 23 year old daughter is a wonderful cook. When she comes home she cooks for us!
One of the benefits of making apple sauce is making applesauce cake. Just made one this weekend and everyone who stopped by has enjoyed it with us. 😁
You are an amazing mom. Your children and husband are very lucky
You have a absolutely BEAUTIFUL family!!!!!
