Tamasha was really way ahead of its time. I bet after 20-30 years people will consider this as a legendary movie just like they do with many of the 70's or 80's films. Tamasha is a really underrated movie with a deep message. The monologues in this movie are just phenomenal and the wonderful acting done by Ranbir and Deepika keeps you involved throughout this 2hrs 19 mins of a masterpiece. One of Ranbir's another wonderful movies which I really like is Rocket Singh with a similar message facing the same circumstances which led to the downfall of Tamasha in BOX OFFICE NUMBERS such as 'masala movie' mentality of people and even that movie was way ahead of its time. But as they say it is not everyone's cup of tea😥
Thanks for making this video Bhai. Release k time par mene iss movie ko bhi baki Indian movies ki tarah maan liya tha but after watching your video I went to watch it and believe me this, after the interval the movie just broke my heart. Having heard only bad comments about this movie ,i was reluctant to watch it...but ranbir+deepika +imtiaz ali combination made me watch it and i thank God that i did.Ved reminded me of my father and so this movie really hit home for me.Such a beautiful potrayal of mental health, not having the guts to stand up to our parents, feeling of being trapped and ofcourse India's educational system.Loved it.Hope more ppl watch it.Thank u for doing this video.
If the movie was a first of Imtiaz Ali, i would have loved it. The movie title has a suffix "why always the same story ? " , that's exactly my problem with the film. Imtiyaz ali has the same premise for his lead characters in all his movies. One who doesn't know what to do with their life, who is always confused. Even a few dialogues of Saif in Luv Ajkal,Alia in Higway,Ranbir in Rockstar and Ranbir in Tamasha are almost similar in delivery/feel/premise . People get bored watching the same thing again and again. These were probably the reasons why most people did not like the movie. Plot was there for a great movie ,but Imtiyaz Ali's style of story telling could not do justice to it IMO. Though 'Agar Tum Sath ho' is Love 💗

All that matters is what you really want in your life. Imagine if this is your last day, what do you think you would have desperately changed to make your life perfect?
Okay, let's for a moment sit back and imagine if you died and let's say ( maybe you don't even believe in God but still ) you meet God and he/she/they give you a report card of sorts regarding what you could have been with your potential. Just tell me this, what how would you feel if you realised you spent your whole life doing something else instead of working for your dream ? I know it hurts to face the truth. Going down the scary and unknown might even turn into sleepless nights and tons of anxiety and tensions but one day, it'll all be worth it. P.S. I believe that you can do it. ♥️ Also, random strangers thinks that you can do it maybe you can actually make your dream come true.

I don't think any director has the capability to touch you on the personal level this their films which imtaiz Ali has done it with Rockstar and Tamasha ^_^
God! These are the top 3 for me too. Also, I loved Meri Pyaari Bindu, thoroughly profound and with a direction more real than effusive positivism movies are habitual to portray
i watched tamasha yesterday and my eyes got wet. I was good in science in my highschool but was in love with literature yet my marks were constantly poor on those subject. Literature was my first love i liked physics chemistry and hated maths but due to the same situation i had to persue engineering and those four years also i spent most of the time reading novels ans and poetry. And now i am nothing.

Thank you so much for making this video. I'm a huge ranbir kapoor and most people I came across thought this film is one of his worst. But most people didn't really understand the true meaning and message of this film. Thank you so much for making this film and I truly believe, after rockstar and barfi, this is one of his best even as comparable to sanju.💓💓💓
@Krishna Chaitanya that's the point, Imtiaz Ali movies are pretty deep. Some of them were easy to capitulate while other's aren't as much. But anyways. This movie got very less credit for what it deserves, according to me. And honestly this movie is very close to my heart. People kept on raving about two old lover coming back for a movie after YJHD, but this movie is so much more along with the actors. The concept was so deep and relevant for me as well
Yeah that scene was Amazing and also the scene where his Boss is Angry with him and he lets all his emotions out and scares the shit out of his boss was hilarious and impactful.!
I feel pity on people who compare Ranbir Kapoor with Ranveer Singh. Ranbir Kapoor is on another level, he has always been. From Rockstar to Barfi to Tamasha to Sanju, he kept on outdoing himself with each and every movie. A superstar who never forgot he is an "actor" first. It's a treat to watch him on the screen. His acting is effortless. And last but not the least, this man has got the guts to take risks and bring something new and experimental everytime. He might not be a favorite among masses (which doesn't matter), but he will always remain the favorite among the classes.
@@rajatbameta2601 To any true cinema lover or a person who has an iota of knowledge about films, masses doesn't matter. Yes, it does affect him, as he has put up in many of his interviews, but only because he has producer's money riding on his projects and any actor would like his movies to be hit. The big thing is even after this he tries doing challenging and unconventional roles.
it is such a great movie. it just breaks the heart when good genuine movies dont get their due appreciation. like Rocket sing..another outstanding movie..but totally went unappreciated.

It's true this movie is not everyone's cup of tea, the majority of audience like to see 'masala movies' nowdays.. this is sad, because personally I got lost in this movie, I was feeling so strange when it finished, it made me reflect to much. An emotional movie, a masterpiece as you said, like Imtiaz Ali Sir's all movies. Thanks for making this video, I really hope people will go to watch this movie, but the problem still is that just some of them will understand it
This review is as inspiring as the movie. A lot of times I'm surprised people don't get this movie. It's one of those pieces of art that only if you have experienced the inner turmoil and suppression from parents and society, you realise how strongly it hits the notes.
I am really fan of ranbir film selection and his acting skills that makes movie more valuable don't know why I can't relate ranbir with other actor and acting skills yet he is capable to act different but impressive at the same time like Robert Downey junior and Jonny deep

Being a cinephile, i was very disappointed by the response india gave to this film. Tamasha is one my all time favourites and is the closest film to my heart. So brilliantly acted, well directed and great cinematography it's one of my best films our bollywood has given us. I'm so grateful to this movie it changed my whole life. Tamasha can be put aside great movies like scorcese's taxi driver which has many similarities to the character of Ved. I've watched almost every other great film thorughout the world and i can say that tamasha is genuinely a masterpiece. I love this line from tamasha,"Andar se to hum kuch aur hi hai aur bahar se majboor." Thankyou, imitiaz sir you are the one of the most talented filmmakers and one of my favourites. Also ranbir was amazingly brilliant in this film.

How can anyone not like TAMASHA? It made me cry and I loved how lyrically woven this movie was. The visuals, the storytelling and the dialogues were stitched together with such perfection, I couldn't help but smile and cry hysterically.
As a Teacher, I completely agree with you and repeat something very similar to what you have said and what Mr. Ali have tried saying through his movie. Hopefully, I am more successful in guiding and mentoring high school kids while they choose their subjects. I generally do not comment on such platforms but you are doing a very good job with every video you upload and your passion is quite visible and audible in every second of your narration. All the best!

Imtiaz Ali is one of the best directors and Rockstar and Tamasha are my two favourite films from him. He starts the movie very unconventionally and treats it so for most part but when it comes to hitting it out of the park with a daring conclusion he gives in and succumbs to familiar tropes.

Thank you for making this video....TAMASHA deserves all respect...specially the climax of the movie where he narrates his story to his father... Love this movie
Most impactful scenes in the movie & most meaningful one ....
@Teju
100% Agree 👍
When you announced this video, I was almost sure it's going to be on Tamasha. Loved it. :D :D
@natalie L He announced this video on Instagram yesterday.. without this "Thumbnail"
A generation who hasn't binge watched Doordarshan till 2000s can never understand the importance of the message propagated by epic like Tamasha
I never watched doordarshan, i loved Tamasha, only movie on my phone
This is the only movie I watched twice in a theatre. By the end of movie tears were rolling from my eyes. Second time I went all by myself. So yeah this is really close to me and no one except Ranbir Kapoor could have done justice with the character of Ved. Masterpiece by Imtiaz Ali 👏👏
I watched Batman twice in the theatre.
Whenever I want to watch this movie, I make myself busy or just get drunk till I sleep because I know if I watch this movie, I will quit my job and go back to India.
All that matters is what you really want in your life. Imagine if this is your last day, what do you think you would have desperately changed to make your life perfect?
I understand!
I feel you bro...
Also, random strangers thinks that you can do it maybe you can actually make your dream come true.

How can you forget that the movies name itself is a drama
Such an underrated movie. Everyone I meet says its boring. But I have watched it so many times because it is in fact 'poetic'. I am going to watch it again. RIGHT NOW. 😁
👍
Same here.. When I say what a masterpiece is Tamasha.. People say its boring
Precious things are not meant for everyone
People who say this is boring dont know what a 'movie' means and think that a movie should just make them laugh for its whole runtime
@@ukyuh2505 For me, execution is how it should be. People who love or are passionate about stories and poetry, who understand the most subtle emotions efficiently will enjoy it the most. I think because of the direction the acting was so perfect. Direction+acting+story+ music =Tamasha

@Krishna Chaitanya Life is monotonous as well :)
"Tamasha" is a dream movie on screen I have ever seen in bollywood movie...after Alia starred "Highway"...."Lootera" also is one of them.
Agreed!! ❤️ Such movies are gems and understood by only gems...❤️
You're not nothing, I am in rut too; but I have enough of "I am not good enough" so I am taking chances with whatever is out there so that I can flow whichever way I want to, the ways out there may not be the one you wish, but get out of the rut choose a way, and look for the long journey, I myself is starting only I don't know where it will to , but I am not going to do pity on myself any more.

The selection itself gives him a 10/10
I'd put it on second position after Rockstar
@Krishna Chaitanya that's the point, Imtiaz Ali movies are pretty deep. Some of them were easy to capitulate while other's aren't as much. But anyways. This movie got very less credit for what it deserves, according to me. And honestly this movie is very close to my heart. People kept on raving about two old lover coming back for a movie after YJHD, but this movie is so much more along with the actors. The concept was so deep and relevant for me as well
I Agree 🙋🏻♂️
@kamal ks your english is tattier
The best scene of the movie was when Ranbir narrates the story of a hero to his family.😍
Rishabh Dubey his monotonous lifestyle z also beautifully shown..
This scene was so emotional, love this movie !!
Yeah that scene was Amazing and also the scene where his Boss is Angry with him and he lets all his emotions out and scares the shit out of his boss was hilarious and impactful.!
This movie is magical and especially the song, "Safarnama" is for people working for jobs they hate just like me. This movie was an eye opener for me.
More like"SUFFERnama"¿?
Did you change your job then
What do you actually love ?

This movie was Awesome
TAMASHA WAS GREAT, I REALLY LOVED IT, IDK WHY IT DIDN'T SUCCEED, RANBIR WAS LIT AF... RANBIR ... RANBIR...RAW EMOTIONS AT ITS BEST.
He is the favorite of classes.....well put 👍
Ask to ranbir.. does masses doesn't matter??
wah kya English bolta hai
@@rajatbameta2601 To any true cinema lover or a person who has an iota of knowledge about films, masses doesn't matter. Yes, it does affect him, as he has put up in many of his interviews, but only because he has producer's money riding on his projects and any actor would like his movies to be hit. The big thing is even after this he tries doing challenging and unconventional roles.

I was surprised when i watched it because i heard only bad things about this movie
This movie scores in every department...story, dialogues, acting, songs, everything
it is such a great movie. it just breaks the heart when good genuine movies dont get their due appreciation. like Rocket sing..another outstanding movie..but totally went unappreciated.
I don't expect a story like tamasha to be understood by many let alone be liked. "Find your calling"... Most of the public would be like "matlab kuch bhi":-P
@Krishna Chaitanya lol what's wrong with you? Smug seriously ! Where? There is something called mass appeal and then some subjects are niche.. That's about it.. Don't opine for the heck of it..that is low IQ! Movie is a masterpiece indeed.. And it's totally subjective.. You can find judwa 2 captivating.. That's subjective too...

I watched this movie 6-7 months ago. It took me long after its release because of people around me gave a feedback of ‘boring’ movie. But when I started watching it, not a single frame of movie was boring or useless for me. Specially the song Tu koi aur hai jaanta hai Tu. Reviews from people like you encouraged me to watch it. I finally watched this movie last month, I really loved it... I felt like the first half in Europe was over the top, then the reality hit me hard and that's where I loved it....
Yeah the first half was total cringe but the other half was good.Overall a good movie indeed

This review is as inspiring as the movie. A lot of times I'm surprised people don't get this movie. It's one of those pieces of art that only if you have experienced the inner turmoil and suppression from parents and society, you realise how strongly it hits the notes.
When ved narrates the story to his father was the most felt scene of my life....This movie was a gem ,💜💜💜
After such a great story
He made Jab Harry Met Sejal
Can we still focus on the good part that is "Tamasha" , thank you !😊
You are right
But the collection of both the movie had a difference
JHMS had a good collection
But Tamasha not that much
No...Tamsha earned more than JHMS....JHMS earned around 60cr and Tamasha made 70cr+ but Both movies were declared Flop At BO
This is what happens when you don't accept a movie that deserved to be a hit
@Krishna Chaitanya have you seen "highway"? It's not the same story, both the guy and the girl are lost in their own way and save each other..

I am really fan of ranbir film selection and his acting skills that makes movie more valuable don't know why I can't relate ranbir with other actor and acting skills yet he is capable to act different but impressive at the same time like Robert Downey junior and Jonny deep
Apart from Tamasha being a masterpiece, thanks for letting us see the other side of you. Kudos. That was hell of a video.

So true! So pervasive
Most of the #Ranbir's movies are not everyone's cup of tea. They are like masterpieces and classics to remember in future for upcoming generations.

Like kuch bhi. Seriously you think that having a Ranbir's picture as my profile will affect bad. And dude I'm not the first one in the history who is using actors picture. Not a big deal at all. If you don't have a valid point to comment on then matalb kuch bhi bologe ! And ya I'm totally obsessed with him. 💖

Imtiaz Ali is one of the best directors and Rockstar and Tamasha are my two favourite films from him. He starts the movie very unconventionally and treats it so for most part but when it comes to hitting it out of the park with a daring conclusion he gives in and succumbs to familiar tropes.
@Krishna Chaitanya There is so much to explore in Self-Discovery and Coming of age films that it doesn't matter how many he makes on the same subject as long as they don't suck. He has succeeded each time except Jhms.
I think Jammy made this video to get the same point across. Tamasha despite being an excellent movie didn't work because of those exact reasons.
