You were 100% correct about the salt/slush/mud getting trapped behind that panel! Not a fan of rubberized undercoating either (even the factory applied stuff). I've seen numerous vehicles (up here in the notheast) that had factory undercoating that were completely rotted out from behind the coating! Salt has to eat too! 😆

Shit I got an automatic and it’s a rocket. It’s a lot of fun. I took the carbon air filter out of the intake air box and put a k&n drop in and what a night and day difference. Very fast 4cyl that everyone should experience in auto or manual. Get one!
I got the auto too, it keeps up well, shifts much different than most ATs
Damn the stock air filter was restricting it that much?!
@@ScarletGuts yeah it has a fuckin charcoal filter in the box once you remove it you get easily 10 hp and another 10 with a sport drop in filter

Thank you for the under-the-nose view starting at 4:00. It allowed me to confirm that the new GR86 on my local dealer lot has damage to the bottom of the black trim for the front wheel well air skirt intake. My guess it was either an automatic car wash track or a steep-ish driveway entry. These under-car views are very valuable.

For sure the auto detracts from the nature of the car, but for someone who wants a small, fuel efficient car with RWD, an LSD and all the other fun parts of the car, it works to drive in traffic.
Great exhaust sounds and just a fun car. Hope it does well.
I think the sound test on anything other than a growling V8 is waste of time. But that's just my opinion. These things sound like a farting bumblebee, again, just my opinion.

For non aviation type people, DA = Density Altitude....pressure altitude corrected for non-standard temperature. As temperature and altitude increase, air density decreases...the more dense the more power your engine can make.

Same with the Miata, manual or bust. I never really thought much of the first gen, but the reviews I've seen of the second gen with the manual are all positive. I think either of them plus the Civic Si are buy them now cars as EVs as much as I hate it seem to be the future. If you enjoy fun to drive cars like these with manuals, get em now.
5:10 those vents will be a home for snow sludge and probably even get broken when the sludge freezes - same problem was with, I think, previous gen kia optima. Not a winter car.

Got a manual brz limited and I love it. It’s worth noting the official power numbers are a bit underrated.
To bad Toyota didn't put the 3 cylinder turbo with the all wheel drive from the GR Corolla.
I always felt the 2AR-FTS would pair well with this car.

Hi Sarah, just found you today and newly subscribed. Really appreciate your knowledgable assessment and dig your humor. Quick question, car shopping on a budget and though I’ve been looking at mid size ‘23 Frontier or ‘23 Colorado, bang for buck am also looking at ‘23 GR86. Watched your review of ‘22 and no prob with stick but may have to make some trips to LA and hate burning up a clutch, although up in Santa Ynez a stick would be fun. Just picking your brains and wanted to throw you some accolades. Oh yeah, wondering with back seat down on Toyota if I can fit a guitar and amp, gotta check dimensions but amp has two 12” speakers so maybe 2’ x 30” x 11”. Just a guess. I guess I better ask dealer to measure, haha. Cheers.
My nephew just got a 2023 model, same color.
I was looking under the hood and also noticed the AC lines, in particular the return line from the evaporator... not only the strange routing, but the unusual (at least to me) feature of having the liquid line tin indide of the vapor return line, I imagine the reason is related to the crazy routing. Guessing maybe a way to kerp liquid from returning to the compressor, but not sure. Maybe it's not so uncommon with the 1234yf refrigerant systems? Just guessing. Maybe someone reading this will know.

On a totally random note, you must have a huge wardrobe since it always seems as though you are wearing a different top (less so when you are wrenching). Compared to your earliest work, your self confidence has grown to a large extent. While you love to come up with hilarious non sequiturs, it does not make you any less brilliant.

Lights are BMW invention or how it's going to be after few companies sigh a technology agreement and make it available in every car. Don't get disappointed - not a perpetual motion. Drift/sport modes should be justifiable without having access to a special track or parking lot. It's not going to be any spider.

I think this is what Supra should have been, not just a Z4 knockoff, but then again it's an Subaru engine... At least both are Japanese companies with similar mechanical design and parts philosophy.

Hey Sarah, my second favorite channel🙂 my first thought was it’s a GR it should only come with a manual then I remembered supra . I still can’t get over how suddenly the 86 has gotten better looking it looks like a cross between a Porsche and the new Z hopefully the next GR you get in for a review is the Corolla that’s gonna be awesome on and off road I cannot wait….🐧🐧🐧👍
I can't wait 'til you get behind the wheel of the new Z in base form and rave about what a bargain its going to be. I understand that these cars are all about balance and flickability, but come on, you KNOW that Z will blow these cars out of the water when it comes to fun/$!

Just drove a k24 1g yesterday. Thanks to the update, the kpower kit is easier to stomach. Picking up a running 1g for less now, then selling the boxer for $3500-$4k, is a reasonable strategy for making a potent machine.

If it’s a coupe definitely feel like a convertible should have been optional. One of the reason why I went with the Mazda Miata.
