Thank you for putting the instructions in the description. I’m making this now. I always can bananas with lemon juice to use in baking later and have used them up to 2 yrs out with no problems.
If you have a video of youtself opening and eating one of these down the road so we have an idea of what the end product should look like, that would be pretty cool! Thank you!
Hello... I'm new here in UA-cam and I cook too in my channel... I want to try you recipe 😍😍 can I ask how long would be the life shelf of the bottled jam? Thank you... God bless
Great question! I'm not sure how ripe they have to be- I just make it with bananas to the point I like the taste of (if that makes sense). I like my bananas a bit softer (I find the flavour a bit better). Totally up to you!
@@ontariogardening thank you neighbor, I live over in Juneau Alaska. One of my nephews grew up and, lives in Ontario. I never been over there. I’m so going to be trying this next week when I can get to the store. I also like my bananas a bit soft.Have a nice weekend, I might drop you a line to let you know how it turns out.
I would love to know how it turns out! Ouu cruising over to Alaska is on our bucket list. Can you recommend a good time to go to see whales? Hope to chat soon :)
Yes, you sure can. The sugar in this recipe, seems to be a very extreme amount. The amount of sugar, has nothing to do with wether the recipe is safe or not. Not sure why the video poster mentioned this. However, lemon juice should be added to each jar. This will make a big difference, in keeping the jam safe. Sugar does nothing
The amount of sugar and lemon juice in this recipe bring the PH levels high enough to safely can this amount. I would not suggest canning the bananas on their own without either, or lowering the ratios (without using a pressure canner). Hope this answers your question. :)

It tastes really nice. I recommend using a bit less sugar it is too sweet for me. I also added half teaspoon cardamom. It has a lemony kind of taste
@@kopatcheka910 glad you liked it!
This was so clear and precise. Thank you!
I will have to try this. Thanks

It should be shelf stable for a couple of years. I hope you love it as much as my family does!
Thank you so much ❤️
Pretty sure I'd eat em all up before they sat around on a shelf for ten years. Yum! Nanners!
How long does it keep after canning, please?
@@gingirelblabla it is recommended about 12-18 months, but I still have some I'm eating from 3 years ago.
Do i must use the last step?
Tysm ! I wish I found your channel years ago

is dipping the bottle in hot boiling water a must?
For this recipe, yes.
Can you reduce the amount of sugar?
I am not too sure for this recipe; you would have to do some side research. I don't want to say yes, and then have it be unsafe.

How did you get jars hot?
Do you mean sterilized? I put them on the sanitize cycle in the dishwasher. You can also put them in boiling water for a couple of minutes.
I did it, but I went bananas doing it
Bananas are a low acid food. How did you avoid botulism?

You can buy ph strips. Add enough lemon juice to bring the ph level to 4.6 or lower and you're safe to water-bath can.
YOU DID NOT SHOW "CLEAN THE RIMS OF JARS BEFORE ADDING LIDS AND RINGS."
Not too anal, are you?
Well, clean em if you spill on em.
