honestly, aalthough I missed mission mode from DS, the main issue I had with 7 was the lack of VS mode. In pretty much every other Mario Kart, VS allowed you to play any track you wanted without being locked to the cups. 7 only had the grand prix, and that killed it for me.
Thankfully ctgp fixes that and gives you more content. Its like the DLC we never got

I think it actually detracts from the game because now the karts are a lot more generic to fit multiple characters. Before each kart was custom made for the character and fit them perfectly.

Mario kart ds was insane. I had a friend at my boys and girls club who’s top screen had too many dead pixels to operate properly. So he used the map on the bottom to race and would actually do really good.

One of the reasons that I love MKWii so much is just because of how every unlockable character has something to do. It made unlocking the most difficult characters awesome and brought so much to Mario kart. It wasn’t just to race and come first, the single player was actually tons of fun just because of the unlockables. But yea MKWii is the best and I just really like Mario kart

It sucks very badly starting out MK8 Deluxe with nothing to strive toward or unlock. Every character accessible from the start. I mean Karts you have to unlock but once you unlock Mr Scooty and Biddy Buggy with the red and blue wheels, there is literally nothing else to unlock that is substantial which is extremely unfortunate.

Mario Kart Wii, Mario Kart 8, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Mario Kart Arcade GP DX, Mario Kart Arcade VR, Mario Kart Tour all look better (well, maybe not Mario Kart Wii, I guess). Mario Kart Double Dash, Mario Kart Arcade GP and Mario Kart Arcade GP 2 might also look better depending on who you ask.

I think back to the time I used an exploit in Maka Wuhu to achieve the world record time in that course and it’s _still_ gone unbeaten
Seeing as this was my first mario kart, i have nostalgic memories of this game. Playing it with my Step Sis, Being trash at 150cc and never playing 50 or 100cc, thinking time trials were just fun instead of what i do now and go for world records now. All in all, i just had some fun with this game.

Edit: The glitch was in Maka Wuhu.
The glitch was able to skip straight to the mountain section before you enter the cave area you jump into the purple water area in the right side. (Note this still works only got patch in the Online side of the game.

@@sirspookybones1118 at the very beggining of the map if you jump off the road into the wter it sent you straight to the end of the race. This was a drag race course instead of a lap based one, so it made the race last only a minute. I'm sure you can look it up on UA-cam. Just put in Wuhu exploit or glitch.

I remember meeting someone with a 3DS and playing MK7 for the first time ever. It was magical to me since I was only used to blocky ass DS games at that point.
The same thing happened when I tried 3D land for the first time. Ended up getting a 3DS with these games about a year into it's life.

@@jodjodjodjodjod Not only do I just have a personal attachment to it, but it has my favorite balance with the item randomness, it's not too chaotic and unfair like Wii, but not too easy like 8 and especially 8 Deluxe. It feels like it encourages just the right amount of skill while still being super fun, which the other games I mentioned definitely are. It was the first game in the series I played as a dumb kid who was bad at video games where I actually felt myself getting better at it instead of dealing with the insanity of Mario Kart Wii. Not only all that, but I just adore the track lineup. The selection of retro tracks is fantastic, it has the best Rainbow Road in the history of the series, and the Wuhu tracks are fantastic. The ones Scott referred to as lame or forgettable I personally found to be at least pretty good. Sorry for the drawn-out explanation, but I just love this game, though I do understand Scott's issues with it, they just don't bother me and in some cases aren't even problems to me at all.

This might just be me, but anybody else remember and find it kinda funny how along with New Super Mario Bros 2, Nintendo promoted this game for literal years after it’s release?
They still promoted it somewhat after Mario Kart 8 Deluxe came out which I find hilarious.
Considering that Mario Kart 7 was basically bundled into every known (New) 3/2DS it's not surprising too see it be promoted for such a long while.
Jeez I had that game in like 8th grade when it first came out it must be 10 years old. The biggest L I ever took was buying the 3ds new for like $350 and then a week later they lowered the price to like $150. They game me a bunch of downloadable games that was supposed to be worth the $200 but I still felt cheated.

I know this game is kinda underwhelming for some people but I have so many memories with it, I can’t hate it. I got to do 8 players at once with other people one time at a summer camp and that was amazing.
Hell yeah. I've got some great memories of playing that with lots of friends at summer camp.

I have so many fond memories of spending countless hours in Mario Kart 7 while I was younger. 7 is my favorite in the series, even if it is due to just nostalgia. I love the game to death.

I feel the same. I love it, & its Rainbow Road is by far my favorite Rainbow Road. That said, I definitely realize now its many flaws. But whatever, nostalgia’s great haha
7 was basically my first Mario Kart. (Think my first one might have been 64 at a McDonald's, but the game was kinda broken and I played it for like 2 seconds). I don't know if 7 is my favorite Mario Kart but it's pretty close.
7, Ds and Wii for me
I recently got a 3DS XL two months ago and Mario Kart 7 with it, I vividly enjoyed playing it on morning bus commutes. I agree with Scott though; haven’t played it since I finished all cups on 150cc.
I tried playing it at my friend's house and it does indeed feel and control exactly like mario kart 8. Thank you, -gex- Chibi-Robo Ziplash man
