First of all, Her nails are beautiful! I’ve never had good nails. Always breaking, peeling. I had seen someone’s video saying that Wilton’s leveler wasn’t any good. The leveler looks great. To expensive though. I’m sure we’ll worth it though! Wilton makes wonderful products and through those products makes it look easier and fun to bake.
I've tried this method before and I think I like using a ruler to make markings and then cut around, not across the cake. That's how Yolanda on How To Cake It does it and it works better if you don't want an actual cake leveler.
I have one from Wilton almost that same one but I think I have an older version or something bc mine won't cut through anything it's so obnoxious and mine has the perforations to change the height but it's not numbered and the bases are not as sturdy as the one on hers looks 😑
How should I chill my cake layers before leveling? Should I chill them in their pans at room temp or should I take them out and wrap them in plastic and refrigerate them
Can this be done with a cheesecake too? I want to make a 4 layer cake with the layers as follows: vanilla cake, cheesecake, vanilla cake and cheesecake. I was thinking of baking the cheesecake in 2 separate pans but idk how that would change the baking instructions. I was also thinking of just baking it like normal in 1 pan and then slice it in 2 after slightly freezing the cheesecake before slicing it into layers. What do you all suggest?
You can use a cake lifter. If you dont have that you can use a flat plate or the base of a springform cake tin. If the cake is small up to 6 or 7 inch and sturdy enough, you can just lift it carefully by hand.
Please could you give us the recipe for this cake that you re cutting through? Mine comes out so crumby! There should be a special recipe for the cake to come out so dense.
Im sorry but the first cake she took the top off (from 1:46-1:58) the dome... you can totally a line it had already been cut once before. Smh!! Watch very close... You can see the first line before her knife hits the spot.. Smdh 🤦🤷 Also, when she started torting the cake of couse she started turning it ... And when she puts the 2nd cake on the turntable ANYONE notice the total difference in how taking the dome off the first one was much easier ??(2:18) I sure did !!! Very "helpful" Wilton. Smdh !!! 👎👎👎👎👎👎
@@SnowflakeTheLegend What are you even saying ??! Smdh... Go lay by your dish "snowflake"!! What do I care if someone agrees ?!? I don't... How about maybe people dont / havent watched the video TO AGREE...My comment is the most recent listed too by the way 🙄 Simple minded asf !!
@@JKFitz I thought I was the on only one who caught that but the first cake was definitely precut you could see it clear as day at around 1:42-1:50 you could see it clearly but I agree if your gonna try & teach it then do it the right way & not try & fool ppl then when they wonder why there's wont come out the same way using the same technique its because they aren't using the same techniques
@@byrddii3516 Yes, thats why it frustrated me as well. And of course when you learn and take a tip from someone teaching yet they are using pre torted cakes it gets frustrating... But that seems to be how they edit and cut corners on some "instructional" videos. I think they should hold themselves to a higher standard than that. Im sure a true Wilton higher up wouldnt appreciate that... It makes them look bad. Especially trying to pass it off like it wasnt pre- cut .. 🤦🤷😬🤔

Are the cake boarders necessary? Cause I don't have them.
You can use a cake lifter.
If you dont have that you can use a flat plate or the base of a springform cake tin.
If the cake is small up to 6 or 7 inch and sturdy enough, you can just lift it carefully by hand.
I'm making a three layer cake, and I have a LOT of leftover cake after leveling the tops. What can I do with it?
