Yeh I agree with karatebiblija this is the best live version of Strange Kind Of Woman on UA-cam! Gosh I have never forgotten when I heard the song on Made In Japan for the first time! It totally blew me away. Ian Gillan's voc's are SUBLIME and when he mimicks Blackmore's lead axing it took me to another planet...yeh you could say I 'space trucked' eh?!
One of my all-time favorites. Ian and Ritchie swapping voice and guitar licks superbly - and SMILING! Good days, those. The band members just fit together like a glove.

Man its the other way around Ians busting blackmores balls !!! uncomparable vocalist to anyone in the history of rock from subtle to extreme powered 7octave vibrato definatly damaging to the vocal chords though but hes got his proof he once nailed it!!!
Something's wrong here, nothing to do with the music tough but Ritchie's guitar is not being heard on the rythm parts but on leads you can hear it clearly and the end of the last solo it kinda gets lost in the mix. An awesome performance nevertheless! This is my favorite version and the second solo is my favourite by Ritchie :)
...when I was a kid and bought this VHS, I remember being a little bit deluded... well, I was a kid and Gillan sounds sometimes too graspy, sometimes a little out of tune. I had in my mind just Made in Japan and a wonderfull live in Denmark from 70... Listening today, Gillan is it really really impressive, and his tenor voice, impress meaybe more than his "soprano" notes. I mean, his technique was and always be really close to garbage, but the easyness of his high D by the end of the song is scary. Unfortunately rock singers seem to be out of any speech about conserving their instrument and study a little of vocal technique...
I saw them on this tour when I lived in Germany as a kid. Unfortunately it wasn't a great show for the band which started off in an atmosphere of bad vibes.The German audience was really pissed off about the time it took for Purple to hit the stage and were throwing shit at the roadies as they tried to set up.It was pretty ugly.When they finally started playing Blackmore wouldn't do any guitar solos for about the first hour and they just went through the opening numbers like robots I guess to punish the crowd for their behavior.The second part of the night was better though when Ritchie finally took a solo the crowd jumped to it's feet and started going nuts.
