I really appreciate this some good coverage of big tournaments that isn't just yelling and doing weird voices like other UA-camrs i won't mention great game and keep this going plz
That's gotta be the most pain inducing way I've heard "zugzwang" pronounced in my life
Vun must vay it like a Verman 🤣🤣
Very Capablanca-esque endgame, just shows us how all the classic games of the past are super important for us to understand
1:28 have you forgotten that black inserted a6 already? the berlin ship sailed on move 3, castling is a fine move here
Yeah, this specific d3 and the subsequent c4 is a different variation. Still though, tbh I started spectating the game from that move and my first thought was "oh, anti-berlin" cuz I feel like I've seen hikaru play so many of those lol
Love seeing a beautiful end game win, very nice strategy by Hikaru
1:26 O-O is not the berlin lmao, that's the main line of the ruy
Yeah you're right, it wasn't the Berlin when black played a6. 0-0 is the Berlin if black plays Nf6 there
Great coverage. I especially like how you pointed out the pin so people who are watching this and tired, playing the video at faster speeds or lower level etc. could see why the knight could not move, it takes on some of the thinking you could see for yourself but you won't miss the reasoning no matter what.
This is a capablanca tier endgame
please make a dubios gambit in the stonewall
That e5 move to keep black in zugzwang was nasty
Your videos are really encouraging. Love it
beautiful endgame
it’s pawndemonium
I had a really hard time trying to find the completely sensible move 13:00
Great game and video. It's not as often that you can get hype on rook endings, but exciting game! Thanks!
I saw a game with 12 pawns on 4 files, both sides had pawn structure messed
This is the sort of pawn structure I always end up with if I play against Stockfish. 🤣
This is a good example of converting in the endgame by playing on both sides of the board, gaining space, restricting the opponents play, and not allowing counterplay.
I’m not a big Hikaru fan but saying “takes captures takes captures” while covering one of his games seems like it must be a felony in at least 3 states and a misdemeanor in 24 others. Love the recap though keep em coming!
I read that title in comic book guy from the Simpsons voice
Super interesting thx! Now I can play the Duras as white too!! 🤣🤣
can you make a video on the nanu gambit?
Interesting pawn structure indid😂
White's plan here wasn't immediately obvious to me. Is it to play e6 since the f pawn is pinned?
Where are you Jonathan?
He plays more often from his other channel, dont worry
Very interesting thx!
first thoughts seeing the starting position, it looks like a draw, but white has winning chances
Why would black willing double the F pawns? Seems weird
Nice one!
That clickbait thumbnail - was hoping for a lower rated guy to make Hikaru look really bad... Good game and coverage anyways!
New vid soon?
Day 54 of asking for a video on my funny English lines
trois
Day 4 of asking for a video on the Latvian Gambit.
