Brilliant stuff ! I never thought I'd be so happy to be on the receiving end of such a miniature !
From the Black side in that position I've usually played 8...Bb7 9 e3 Na6 with the point that 10 a3 Ba5 11 b4 loses to 11...Bxb4 12 ab Nxb4. Also good for some quick wins but your line with 8...d5 9 ed Bf5 is much sexier !
Anyway cheers and keep up the good work with spreading the gospel of dubiousness
Also shoutout to IM Chessexplained and GM Yozhik [whoever that may be] for playing the stem game many years ago.
what a chad.
The Gambit is the lovechild from an affair between Wing Gambit and the Fajarowicz Variation!
I was thinking more of a composite of the Blumenfeld and Fajarowicz but indeed in the semi-declined lines with 6 e3 or 6 Nf3 Black can play 6...e4 and transpose to a form of Sicilian Wing Gambit reversed
Overly complicated dubious gambits are definitely the most fun to play in blitz. Great vid.
Have you ever considered making a video about the auto-focus gambit?
😂
its too dubious...even for the almighty daddy jonathon
Auto-blur countergambit stronk
For autofocus gambit, you need better lightening sacrifice
the blur speaks for itself
I really enjoy these lectures on obscure openings! Thanks for all the great content.
Never before has an into to a UA-cam video got me so fired up! How could I not want to play the wagon gambit now
Oh Johnathan I love your videos. Watching your videos improves my tactical/creativity skills. ❤️ what a cool gambit though nice video!
This should be renamed the infinity gambit as you'd have to play an infinite amount of games for this gambit to arise.
Hilarious moves. Good stuff. Keep rolling!
There are a surprising amount of parallels here to the Zaitsev variation of the Benko gambit.
That was top win at the end. I love that one.
Looks like a fun gambit and very likely to occur often
Excellent lines, thanks!
Great stuff! Very much like your style too! Thumbs up, Im subscribing!
Every christmas we have a tournament at the local club. Gambitten, literally translated as The Gambit, we play a bunch of random gambits with random colours, this year it is my turn to choose the random gambits, a good chance exists that the Wagon will be included. I will let you know how it goes after christmas. it would be unfair of me to practise before then of course. thanks Jonathon and keep up the good work.
update !?
@@Ned478 I won all my games in the tournament and have been told I am not allowed to pick this years gambits
@@joseraulcapablanca8564 ha, perfect
Fascinating! I think I’ll hitch my wagon up to this on my next game!
Thx. I needed a new defense against 1. d4 and very much enjoy playing dubious gambits.
Awesome thank you for sharing.
Really interesting and entertaining.... thanks....I do like wild unorthodox games
Love the gambit, and the content! (stockfish recommends focus lock on your camera here though ;) )
This was entertaining. 😁 Thanks.
Just a tip , the video description has 2 links to the lichess study instead of 1 link to lichess study and 1 link to the vampire chicken channel
Oops! Thank you! I've updated the description.
GREAT STUFF , DONE VERY GOOD VIDEO !!!!!!
Thanks for this video, I've tried to play this online a few times but haven't come across many d4 c4 Kc3 players. Yesterday I could play this on the board in a local rapid competition and won :)
I myself have played that Ra6/Rh3 undermining idea to win material. Particularly strong if you also have a capture with the move because they almost always auto capture.
lol lichess has this listed as: "Indian Defense: Normal Variation"
That's just the name they give to any continuation After 1 d4 Nf6 2 c4 that doesn't fall under a specific seperate heading. But indeed quite ironic.
First urosove gambit then nakahansion gambit then wogone gambit awesome please give us more gambit like this
Be sure to sign the waiver prior to trying the wagon gambit.
Very cool! I'll try it :)
Nice
I actually watched it live on twitch
💪
Three wheels on my Wagon...
I really liked that ...Ra3 tactic, it took a while for me to find it but it was satisfying when I thought, "Wow, it must be Ra3!".
Interesting opening, reminds me of the Benko but somehow more chaotic.
Would you consider the following variation of the advance french by black as aggressive?
1. e4 e6 2. d4 d5 3. e5 c5 4. c3 Nc6 5. Nf3 Nge7 6. Bd3 cxd4 7. cxd4 Nf5 8. Bxf5 exf5 9. O-O Be7 10. Nc3 g5
My favourite trap in this is 11. Qb3 g4 12. Ne1 (or Nd2) Nxd4 13. Qxd5 (Although Qa4+ is equal) Ne2+ (Knight can't take due to Queen hanging) 14. Kh1 Nxc3 15. Qxd8+ Bxd8 16. bxc3
Thank you, Jonathan, for this ultra-agGressive gambit! (^___^)
I might study this... one day. Maybe.
Thx a lot a new GAMBIT
This gambit is crazy staff! 😜🤪
Your content is probably what has led me to become an "eye talian" player with white. Good stuff.
Hey Jonathan: just one word: INSANE!
The most WHOLESOME clickbait on the internet... suscribed! :)
I must try this.
Have you made a video about the Rousseau gambit? It's one of my favorites but i suck with it lol
Here you go: ua-cam.com/video/U_n3CQEzErM/v-deo.html 🙂
This is a bullet players dream, gonna have to swat up on this 1 thanks for upload
What do you recommend against 6. Qc2? That's what I got in my first game :)
great Video :)
So a variation of the Volga or Benko?
Great video, gladly I can reduce the speed to follow easier. 😉
Gotta do it for Archibald Wagon🙏🏼
I love the numale face in the thumbnail
If Jonathan says "Oh no,... MY ROOOOOOOOK!!" UA-cam will throw a chess overload error...
Your camera is doing wonky things, probably some kind of cambit ...
Okay I'm trying this right now, it looks so juicyy
One game, one win. Stupid wild game. However I did play d5 before I saw your evaluation!
well done :)
Does A3 not work? After knight to e4?
What if black move is Qd4, attacking Knight and Rook?
White could try 4.e4 b4 5.e5 avoiding giving 2. ...a6?! a sence. Or what about an alternative to 5.dxe5?
I would like to thank everyone of you who checked out my King’s Row videos on You Tube. And for those of you who have not, why not. King’s Row is a uniquely different strategy board game. It is as challenging as chess but far easier to learn and become competitive at it. King’s Row allows new players to have challenging games and as your skills grows the competitive nature of the game grows with you, so you will never outgrow the game.
Would you want people promoting their content by making comments at your channel?
We all know you would prefer them to view and like the content on your channel AND make comments about your King’s Row content.
doubioes gambita, nice
not only are they up two pawns, but they have the compensation. lol
Dubious chess is fun in bullet games
6:30 "You also get to decide where this bishop goes." If bishop goes to a6 (what you forgot), you could prevent short castle.
I think he says that later on in the video
At 17:36 Minute: why not Nxc7+? You would loose the rook and the right to castle.
What he meant by (highly cruciferous)?
vey cool
Cool video.
The other obvious defense for white (to my mind), after 5 ... e5!? is 6 a3. This pretty definitively prevents black's main point of 6. ... Bc4. Anything wrong with this line for White?
a3 [the principal antidote to the Fajarowicz] does not actually prevent Bb4+ here due to the pin on the a-file
I had the same question, but later went back and saw the soft pin on the b3 pawn, which would win the rook for a bishop.
@11:19 I think a stronger move is knight g3
9:50 The idea of Qc2 is pressure on c7.
You never mentioned.
22:00 Stockfish 14+ NNUE on Depth 21 on Lichess said that Ba5 is actually better (+2.4) versus Be7 (+2.5)
Don't use sf14, the sf15 has been out for about 2 years
@@retardmagnet it's only one year with us, and I actually don't care, I used online analysis and didn't download anything, hence why I mentioned version here. If newer one disagrees, good.
@@nick1752 depth 21 is not deep like at all
@@grapeleopard6809 who asked? just send here analysis on depth 22 or higher.
@@nick1752 be a cunt for no reason then, was just trying to help
Strange name for it, since you can only play it if you are *not* on the wagon 🍺🍺🍺
Can you do a video on the elephant gambit or the Latvian gambit both are interesting.
I'd love more elephant gambit content!
Ha you feel for my trap! Im almost equal now!
Haha, it's a big accomplishment
Fun video.
I'm on the 1000+ rating and almost never my opponents plays that line where I could deliver this Gambit
#14:52 you say a winning position but king to c2 seems fine? black cant really get there fast enough? is there time to take the rook? xb8 then b4 are undefended?
Also, while the a3 rook move is spectacular putting the bishop on a6 in front of the other bishop seems fun. If the pawn moves you can trade it and they have to move the king or they have to push g2, you put the bishop on the diagonal looking at the rook and they have to block with the knight. It might be a good position for white they have no choice in it.
Kc2 Nc6, Black will be a piece up with a winning position
@@HighlyCruciferous lichess showed me the advantage in ways I wouldn't ever notice. After Nc6 comes Be3(?) then Qh4(?) Bxf2 Qc4+ Kd1 Qd5+ and then the white king runs towards the black pieces on his own. Something like that, I don't understand any of it but it works. I would have just taken the white queen but the computer isn't interested in that. It has better things to do.
At 19:17 after b-D6
White q-C8!!
White wins
I believe
Ke7
Why not b5 right away & then a6 ?
Because White can find a better move than Nc3 to hang on to the pawn, such as e3 or ba followed by g3
I’m gonna lose all my points.
20:05 though as far as I know you did not play Nc6 in the orginal game but rather 0-0. No wonder you dont see the bishop hanging in the orginal vid.
Your opponent is just going to ignore the pin to their queen for 5 straight moves?
Wow, for the first time when it comes to bad habits, johnathan needs to fall OFF the wagon
The second best and most easy way to defend is pawn a3 i dont know why he dont show it
Just found this guy he looks like Charley from sunny in Philadelphia if the smart pills worked
why Wagon???
14:39 why not kD1? you lose a rook but can steal his and mannual castle to queenside
8 Kd1 Nxf2 + 9 Kc2 c6 Black wins
Unsound gambit as black? Count me in!
man this gambit is quite effective i beat 2 high rated players playing this gambit
Wouldn’t Rh1 also win? It also looks cool 😎 😂
I was excited to try this.. until I saw that the guy dropped 300 points after constantly playing it :D
Ha ! That has more to do with my poor time management than with the actual practical chances it offers. Blitz is not for me. Results are much better in rapid. As Jonathan points out, the moves are difficult to find for both sides. The complications require some time to figure out.
a-GG-ressive
It does look very fun but lets be honest, but my instict as a D4 player, and I believe for most people out there, was not bother enrtaining these obscure moves and just go 4.e4
Plenty of fun to be had in that line too after 4...b4 and now 5 Nd5 Nxe4 or 5 e5 bxc3 6 exf6 cb 7 fg Bxg7 8 Bxb2 c5
Grob is the best
this gambit usually leads to a painful and unpleasant game for white
I wish he’d drop the goofy thumbnails
Chess is hard at 1000 level because you are playing stockfish everytime.
your reactions are not extreme enough. This is youtube, not a chess club!! emote!!!
Anyone wanna imrpove chess together?
Re “playing like a doofus, checking like a caveman” - have you hacked my games? Doubters. You only got it half right.
