- I challenged @eric-rosen to a chess game starting from the dreaded Wagon Gambit. Is he ready to handle this incredibly tricky opening?

Prep so insane even he forgot it 😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Prep so insane it cleared sary
"Imagine what Eric is saying right now"
Eric: "gg".
Totally what everybody would imagine Eric to say
Well, that was definitely not what I expected. I think your "insane stockfish prep" might have been too much 'insane' and not enough 'stockfish'.
Nice. Nice. 👏🏻
🎉😂
Jonathan: "It's not the same if I can't hear the fear in his voice"
Meanwhile Eric: "I think it's OK..."
7:58
Oh no my wagon !
6:08 Oh no my Rosen
Funny how all that Stockfish preparation degenerated into a Napoleon-like game with both kings in the center and all the center of the board crowded with pieces, in which the best player checkmated first. You are always fun to watch, and one even learns something
No postgame analysis with Eric?
I was interested in what the evaluation was
Maybe he could make a follow up video with it
jonathan was so upset by this loss he has not been returning Eric's calls ever since. jonathan even revealed on stream that he's thrown out his queen size full color print Eric Rosen bed sheets. truly a tragic rift between two of the best UA-cam chess creators. i hope they reunite with an analysis soon ❤

looking at lichess, they played a few more games
after 11. Nf3, it doesn't look like there's a magic stockfish line and Eric is pretty much out of the woods
Basically, yes. Best is probably 11...cxd6 according to Stockfish.
the magic of the line is that black is down 3 pawns but its equal, but if your prep ends there its arguably easier to play for white, if not white could be in some serious trouble
@@zwischendurundmoll3968 Not really equal. White is always slightly better in all lines. Stockfish evaluates those as around 0.8 tô 1.5
@@niloneto1608 slightly better
That’s exactly how I always go down when playing a weird gambit 😂
When Jonathan has the maniacle giggle you know it’s gonna be spicy
as spicy as mild salsa
What!? It's over!? I was just starting to enjoy it, damn.
thats what she said
@@TheWolfnman That's what dad said. Never got it, until I found out my real dad is actually the milk man.
Great game, nice start
That was one complicated opening. Was thinking that if I was black in the position at around 5:20, I would have attacked the white queen with Nb6. After that, I have no idea. It just felt that was only way to keep the board open and in a delicate balance of keeping it under control
looks like Nb6 blunders the bishop
Knight on e4 covers the Bishop on c5, if that is what's you thought was going to be lost.
@@TheFluke32 you're right, I didn't see that
Qf6 was the losing move because it's of no immediate threat to white and Nxc7+ followed by Nxa8 becomes possible. Without Qf6, Nxc7 followed by Nxa8 is not possible because of Qa5+.
Is there any way we can get a redo on this because I have no idea what the wagon gambit is although I see Eric past up the the forbidden fruit that was offered. I'm not so sure Eric would have faired so well had he not been told anything about the game in advance. But I understand that certain moves must be made in the beginning to make it all work. In any case, we need a follow up video for this gambit.
Herrs jonathkns original video, going through the theory. He has a few more games on the second channel (i think)

Edit: im not one of those wack youtube bots
@@mckenziearchibald4510 that's exactly what a whack UA-cam bot would say
@@mckenziearchibald4510 I did find that video and now it makes more sense. Thanks.
Where is the postgame ? What went wrong ? Did you have more ideas you coulda remembered
Yeah, what's the right way to play it? What was the prep you forgot? Don't leave us hanging!
reminds me of every time I try some new exotic gambit. "oh shit, what now?" lol
Another addition to the Eric Rosen mythology.
I love these two guys so much
Another dubious gambit crushed by a champion of dubious gambits.
Very professional - you check the gambit with a Gambit Master.
That evil laughter, man!
The laughs of Jonathan were scary
What about 8 ... b4? It keeps the dark squared bishop from attacking the queen.
...and refuted it
Oh John, what a blunder on your last move...
U could & should've won the game..!
"I've so much time to think!"
"Feel free to take all of it"!
“Feel free to take all of it” and leaves chat. damn man feels bad
I was hoping for more out of this crazy line ngl
rosen leaving the call on accident lol
"Where did my friend go" was so sad 😅
my two favorite chess players
Great video. Thank you for showing this cool trappy gambit, but I think you should focus more on solving mate in one problems!! Just sayin...
11. Qf6 is a huge blunder according to Stockfish. 12. Nxc7+ and the evaluation for white is +7.
Noticed that too. Once Eric went Nf3, the value of Qf6 went away.
Ouch. At least it was interesting chess!
Queen c2 would take care of this aspect
Super villain laugh
Back to the beaver gambit it is 😅
Wagon gambit? Feels like there's an opening for every animal or object lmao. Next you'll be playing the Chimpanzee Defense or maybe the Lawnchair Gambit.
lol natural moves from white result in like, +7.
why didn't he take c7 pawn w the night forking the King and Rook?
Kf8 and Qa5+ looks devastating
Nice nice
OUCH!
Pin the knight to the queen with ur bishop? I think that's the idea you forgot.
Thumbnail’s missing the ‘r’ in your last name btw!
Ratings point gambit
Sad ending
the gambit brothers
why not Qd5 instead of Q4d on move 7
Bb4+ is extremely strong. Stockfish gives it -3
Possibly just because it was the intuitive/obvious move. If you're facing an unknown gambit, you usually don't want to play into it. You'd rather play a slightly worse but safer move than a seemingly better but much sharper move
First move Qd5
hahaha that's a nice vid
Couldn't black have castled 0-0 instead of Qxg2 which got him mated?
Jonathan forgot the course about king safety.
White could have taken your rook with a king fork.
yeah he was gambiting it lol
Yes! I was wondering when Eric would see it but he didn't. I think he was a little psyched out or intimidated as he said when the 'call' was lost.
Never mind. LOL, Eric won anyway and I didn't see it coming. Gotta love him.
Taking that pawn before the queen moved would've been a blunder because of Qa5+. After Qf6, Eric realizes that he can take the pawn, but since he's already up material there's no point winning unrelevant pieces when his only risk comes from opposing tempo
@@TVGUY333 he did see it and even talked about it live lol
Lol
Well this is embarrassing. I would reconsider all my life after this. Not because he lost , because of attitude how he lost. Made us have so big expectations and then failed miserably.
I'm sad now.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Oops...
lol
Just some feedback - Eric dropping off and you continuing to talk about it was annoying.
Your comment is annoying
