  • #253. This HAS SO MUCH POTENTIAL For RESIN ART!
In todays Resin Art video we experiment with builder gel to make pearls, they look just as good as the real deal..... but they are resin!
This UV curing clay has soooo much potential for us resin artists! It's incredible! Can you imagine how many resin pearls we could make just from one pot! Serious ££$$ can be made with this!
    And no oyster farming!

The original pearls look like fresh water pearls. They tend to be irregular in shape and size, whereas salt water pearls are almost perfectly round and uniform in size. The same goes for cultivated pearls. This is such a cool idea love it! 🥰

I wonder about using this gel in resin dioramas. Make or mold the shape you desire, cure, then coat with UV nail polish. Perhaps use the "cats eye" nail polish to make star sapphires or tiger eyes gemstones. Or perhaps top coat with UV resin and chameleon powder.

I just ordered the gel. I looked up some videos for making wire earrings before I suggested this. You can take wire and poke it through the pearl before putting it under the UV. Then use that wire to put the pearl in the middle of your wire earring and wrap the thin wire to make it stay. I suggest looking up some wire wrapping videos for sizes of wire and how to wrap them.😅

Wow, that builder's gel is cool stuff! I would probably first use the gel to make a set of small barriers in some of my bracelet molds, to make "C" bracelets. They're all adult size so, way too big for my less than 6" wrist, and my g-daughter's wrist is even smaller. No kid's bangle molds, anywhere! OR, just use it to make a small bracelet mold!

She also has several videos on how to use the dividers with lots of ideas. Little Windows here on UA-cam just a few months ago in her videos playlist👌 ~~if you go back about 2 years she has tons of bracelet ideas from when she launched her molds. She sells the 4 different sized molds separately or in a set & all of them can be shaped round if you follow her tutorial. Happy Arting 🌹

I'm think this would work great for creating shallow items in resin moulds,I think I've said before about finding it difficult to pick up the tiny details with UV resin? I make little bugs, dragonflies, butterflies, ladybugs etc to be set onto my etched glass, I can see this working extrememly well for that, oh and btw, the 'crown' ear posts are called prong settings, one for your craft vocabulary! Amazing find and fab video, thank you x

I love watching your experiments! I have a groove worn in the plastic of a sewing machine by the thread (otherwise the machine is perfect). Do you know which would be harder material so it doesn’t happen again? I’ve thought about resin or super glue in the groove. I have a piece of metal but I’m afraid the thread may catch the edge.

Hi Susan, I'm not 100% sure, would definitely need to be very smooth, I would say uv resin and file it flush, then glaze with a very thin layer after sanding 😁

This question is just a general question
When making the necklace pieces can you put regular epoxy resin over UV resin
Or do you need to use UV On UV
    Thanks🇨🇦👍

You can but it will end up with drips

What a cool idea 💡 would it make links 🔗 so that one could create a chain link necklace that one would normally see them made of plastic

I'm curious as to whether or not the gel will stand up to being cut with a shaped cutter, like a small clay cutter (or cookie cutter). Roll it out then see if you can cut shapes out of it.

Yes, have tried and it works 😁

This is such an awesome idea! Thank you for sharing it! I wonder if you place each pearl into a little pile of the mica before you cure them if the flat spot is prevented?
Also, you should check out Tea and Art, she used this stuff with embossing folders and it's so cool, I can see you doing amazing things with that technique too!

I wonder if you can use the polymer clay bead roller to get a rounded shape? or theres bead rollers that come in more than round shapes like teardrops?

Very cool had no idea that even existed 😂 but but but does it float in a 2 part epoxy?? I have some UV beads I bought a while back and they float on me so would I need to put a BB inside these to prevent them from floating or will they work without it?

Would a cheap purple\uv laser pen help to cure these small pearls. They have a very small concentrated beam which may not interfere with any other projects/ pearls. I bought one cheap online and has a uv warning with it. I’m not an expert but it may help with small things like this that need that light to penetrate through. I’ll say it again, Daniel, we love your channel.

I did try looking for an actual UV laser but I can't remember if they were not available or they were too expensive, I do want one for some other experiments 😁

What if you make those pearls, then put a super thin coat of clear UV over top?

Ok, I ordered this and received it today. You said it wasn't sticky. I tried it with gloves, and had to take them off and throw them out. Then I tried bare fingers- I am still trying to get it all off. I tried finger cots, and it worked a little better, but as it got warm, it became sticky again. I finally gave up after I ruined my last gold bezel tray. Any suggestions? 😢

      @daniel..cooper  6 місяців тому +1

No way 😔 sorry Paula, it could be a temperature thing, try putting in a cool place before using, I haven't handled mine for long enough for it to get warm.

❤Hi Daniel, I think it would be good for a small canvas and use the stuff like you would use a glue gun to make branches and to color them first and glue the pieces down or pendends for a bezel. That stuff is awesome cool where can you get it?

Not to sound ignorant but what is the difference between resin and epoxy resin?
