Hi I’m a nail tech and I use this product to make 3D charms for nail art. I use no wipe gel top coat in my mold first then a colored gel polish to create roses or bows. I think you’re actually working the gel too much. Try the gel top coat then the pigment powder then the mold-able gel. Let me know if it works for you
These flowers turned out really good- now I know what to do with those little Molds in my old icing drawer from when the children were younger and appreciated the effort that went into birthday cakes 😂
Thanks for mentioning this! Mine have been in a drawer for a long long time, forgot I had them. Used to make cream cheese mints in the Silicone molds, they would be perfect! Hmmm, or do I want to make the mints? Ha ha
Hi from Australia. New subscriber. First time seeing your channel. Those flowers turned out stunning looking. I’m looking forward to more of your resin works. I have moulds, resin and the colours but haven’t tried it yet. You’ve inspired me to watch more of your videos and also to try using my resin. Thank you Daniel.
I love how you just say things out of no where, shows how you are genuine and made me laugh so hard for catching yourself out for what you said :)))))) Please never change, every video you do teaches most of us that want to learn more and don't have time to test things I know many like myself are grateful for the time and information you put into them all. Thank you Daniel.
I just love how you did it all on camera! So many people perfect the technique off camera and then it makes it look so easy! But, they’ve been working on it off camera for how long?!
WOW! I am a cake and cookie decorator, just recently becoming interested in resin. Have already begun sacrificing many of my silicone fondant/sugar molds to use with resin. Figure I can buy duplicates if I wanna use for edibles again. lol. Anyway, now you've got me thinkin' about other decorating supplies I really haven't used for awhile, and you are right. There are tons of molds like the one you used. My brain is on overload right now, and I can't get to my supplies fast enough. Thanks alot Daniel! (No really, thank you so much for sharing.) Love what you do! Take Care!
Hey a suggestion?? Try using nail/cuticle scissors when doing small trimmings on itty bitty pieces like this, that way u get to keep those precise lines u made, plus they're easier to use than the big bulky ones
A great way to use that is get yourself some slip solution or alcohol (I prefer slip solution) and a silicone tool or a short flat brush! That’s what I use when doing nails with builder gel.
Daniel, I've used UV gel to make finger nails. It requires a liquid to help shape it with the nail brush (which I recommend). Plain rubbing alcohol will work. It helps to smooth the gel and reduces stickiness.
Oh, these are great, Daniel! I love all your new ideas...really like the galaxy flower. *NOTE TO SELF:* Buy More Sh•t, (thx, Dan) Don't tell Mrs. Cooper, Don't pull it.
I've been using the epoxy resin puttty you taught us how to make in my flower molds. I attach them to furniture, vases, and picture frames. Saved tons of $$ in my furniture embellishing. Thank you for another super cool idea! Its funny because im always looking at things to use with resin too. My husband is so sick of me saying 'I wonder if i could put/use this in resin?'
I’m betting there are nights where you wish you had a remote control that could shut off your mind for a bit, so you could get some sleep.😊 I’m not on any other platforms so, I hadn’t seen your rose sculpture heart pendant, it’s beautiful! Thanks for another great idea!
Perhaps you could try using the scissors to trim the edges before opening the mold as well as cutting the petals apart. Rather than drilling holes, use flat backed glue on bales for earrings or necklace pendant. Or glue two bales on opposite sides of the flower to make a bracelet.
I kept thinking roll it in a ball before you squish it! And dusting it with mica would help lol these came out so cool! Maybe even rolling it into individual balls and putting it in each petal before you squeeze it in the mold would help get the individual petals you were wanting. Just throwing things out there! Great job! I love your experiments!
Last one especially is gorgeous! Earrings, pendant, bracelet, brooch, ring! You've got a full matching set there, using this method. Even a scarf pin or hair clip! 💗🏴
Oh these are STUNNING!!! Middle could be done with either a pearl or a rhinestone (not sure about the latter but you never know…😂😂😂). Love them !!!! 🩵🩵🩵
I have absolutely loads of these flower moulds, I decorate cakes. I'm going to go through my stash to see which ones I haven't used in a while and they will find new life again as resin flowers. Thanks for sharing.😁
I used to decorate cakes too and just went through some cake stuff last night that my husband has been trying to convince me to get rid of! Now I have another excuse to keep it! 😂
Hello Dan .. je pense que ton petit moule est fait pour la pâte à sucre 😉 mais c'est trop bien cette idée !! La dernière fleur que tu as faite est superbe !!! C'est toujours magique chez toi ...MERCI !!!!! 🥰💖💖💖
If you made these into earrings, they would look good with one of your homemade pearls in the middle, even as a pendant very very cool idea these turned out beautifully
For over 30 years I've created flowers from bread-dough clay and cold porcelain. I have a mold like that and more besides. This would take things to a whole new level. Making hair pins with this resin would be so much better than air-dried clay. Thank you for sharing this!
I absolutely love the colours in the last flower! 🤩 I noticed you trying not to say ‘game changer’ 😂 but it is! Fantastic idea!👍☺️ thanks Daniel! I’ve a set of small fondant flower punches with spring plungers to release them giving a 3D flower. Endless possibilities…
Oh my goodness! This is awesome. Just cut off that strip holding those two silicone halves... we'll that's what I was telling you while picking off the excess 😂
Dan, personally I wouldn’t mind a bit longer video watching you do the other flowers and I would have loved to watch you make the first flower that you hand did and then put it in the heart. Excellent video as always. I’m sure Mrs. Cooper will never know…. Lololol
Oh my goodness! I have lots of these moulds! I used to do cake decorating. You put a type of fondant in them called flower paste which you roll out, cut the shape out with a little cutter which comes with it and put it into the mould, press and hey presto you have a flower! Love how you think out of the box!
Absolutely Love your artistry!! Since the gel reacts to heat, maybe after putting gel in the mold, place in fridge for secs (maybe) and it wouldn't stretch when demolding. Love the originality!! You are such an inspiration to artists! ❤
You've done it again, absolutely stunning. I am excited because I happen to have some cake flower molds, can't wait to try this one. Thank you Daniel for continuing to experiment.
❤Daniel, you never cease to amaze us. I love all your experiments and showing us new ways to up our game with epoxy resin and UV resin.❤ Gorgeous flower.
Yay!!!!!!!! I'm finally able ro comment again 😊 This is cool. I'm thinking there could be so many possibilities for this technique. I've already ordered the supplie so I can give it a try. Thank you Daniel ❤
@daniel..cooper I have no idea. My granddaughter and grandson were having the same problem, but then all of a sudden it started working. So it wasn't just my phone. Oh well just happy it works again.
I’ve watched quite a few resin artists, I’ve yet to start a project, but you are definitely my favorite. When I get started I know I’ll have had the best teacher. Thanx
If you shape the resin “blank” to match the shape of the mold there should be less squeezing out along the edges….square blobs in squarish molds, for example. Thanks for the exciting and inspirational experimentation!
I have a bit of a tip, instead of pulling off the excess that pushes out of the sides of the mold, I carefully trim it with nail scissors. Just a thought going forward, thank you so much for sharing all your ideas!
You could use that colored uv clay stuff you can melt back down in warm water. This is a fantastic idea Dan. I look forward to trying it soon myself. Thanks for the great experiments!
Thanks Daniel, I love that you do all the experiments for us. I certainly can’t afford to do them myself. They really came out fantastic. Wishing you a great day.
Daniel, I just love love love watching your videos!!! You have such an imagination and the way you share your ideas you always make it look so simple and I can't wait to try it!! Thank you Daniel.
You might want to check out some polymer clay artists. You are kind of reinventing the wheel a bit. I'm a clay and resin artist. We regularly use mica or corn starch in molds to prevent clay from sticking.
Thanks Deborah, it's new stuff to me, I have polymer clay but I have only tried it once and didnt like it much 🙈 Way too much faffing getting it ready to use, but I did try a hard technique for a beginner 😂
Also, it was more about the ability to create clear resin in 3D without the use if normal molds, the dusting was just an idea in the moment to assist 😁.
Hearing you berate yourself reminded me of someone and I was mentally telling you to stop being so hard on yourself and enjoy the experiment. Suddenly dawned on me that you reminded me of me! Not sure what Mrs Cooper will say when she watches the video, but it's a cool experiment 💜
