It’s hard for me to listen to some of these songs. They have such a profound emotional impact that sometimes I just can’t put myself through it. But if I’m already in despair these songs seem to pull me out of it. Absolutely baffling how that works out. This is one of those songs that I learnt and can barely play and certainly can’t sing. Devastatingly beautiful rendition, understated, precise and the various rhythms articulated perfectly. Thank you Josh I found this nostalgic and very moving, you captured the essence of Nick’s song whilst also making it your own.
Two things come to mind watching this, what a huge talent Josh is and what a huge talent Nick Drake was. The vocals are different but coming from the same beautiful emotional source and guitar playing is fabulous. Thanks Josh for reminding me of the beauty of this song.

They didn’t quite resonate with me when I was in high school/college, but the older I get the more impactful they become. Need to do a full dive into the discography. Totally agree with you. Didn't get Nick Drake when he was current. But then years later my son discovered him in his early teens (now in his 30s) and really opened my eyes to Nick's magic. Josh carries the beauty of Nick Drake's music home to the present.

Nick Drake has been an incredibly significant character for me, before his life was tragically cut short he studied English at Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge. It's two days after receiving my own offer to study Natural Sciences at the university that I'm watching this, and I can't help but thank him for always being in the back of my mind when toying with what seemed like an unachievable level of academia, given my upbringing. Drake was perilously gifted, and I thank you dearly for doing him such justice.

My suggestion to you, Josh, is to be sure to take the small-body guitar with the dead-ass strings on tour when you are part of the Bygones and travelling through the country (or at least when you come to Chicago - where I'm from). And sometime during your set take a few mins to treat your audience to your best impressions of Nick Drake - and this song in particular. I think you'll get a better reception than you might think.
