Interesting that your bottle has a yellow label like the edition 3 ? I got a #2 in a store in the US years ago and it had a Orange label. It was $120usd and very nice but wish I had kept it to flip with the crazy prices they are going for. Cheers
So I had a look around and there are bottles floating around in Hong Kong with the yellow label for ED2. So maybe it was a market thing? I'd ask Edrington but they hate me.
Haha, good review MA very animated. We've got cold weather in the great white north and some good CS offerings are solid companions these days. I passed up Edition No. 6 and I don't know what that would've been like but coincidently I ordered a Classic Cut today. It is the year of the Rabbit so hop hop hop bunny we go.
Can you do a review of “Kilmory” by Lagg pleeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaase. I want to try it so badly, I heard it has notes of machine oil and hospital floor cleaner. I need it. 🙏
love you man...that moment before revealing what you´ve tasted i was genuinely thinking that you were almost in tears having a flashback of Macallan good old times and what it meant to you....and then you revealed that is 2x worse......ahahahaha i´m still laughin almost poor down my dram (edradour 12) ... cheers from the middle of the atlantic
IKR?? I think it's a market thing. I saw a yellow ED2 for Hong Kong - so maybe there was some packaging policy for different markets. Just guessing here.
This review confuses me because i have 3 bottles of this, 2 unopened and i get zero astringency. Pure sweet honey and red fruit with some tobacco. Plus the yellow label almost makes me wonder if something got mixed up. Enjoyed the review though regardless
The price of this whisky today is insane but it always had INVESTIBLE WHISKY stamped all over it. When I bought mine the secondary market was awash with ED1. There was so much of it it was cheaper than retail. However, this one got good reviews and we were all so desperate to open any affordable Macallan above 43% abv. To think a bottle today is almost the same price as my Macallan 18 (1994), which blows it away, is amusing. One thing we didn't think would blow up in value were those Springbank Greens we so casually quaffed down. Total bullshit marketing with this bottle as with all in the range. Seriously, I doubt the guys in the restaurant know anything much about whisky and just put their names to the project. I think it was the ED3 where the perfume makers were idiotically involved. Still, I have to confess to liking the the whisky but I thought it was overpriced at £80 at the time. If it was any other NAS without a name I would price it at £60 tops. I know exactly what you're saying about that varnish element but I don't think it bothered me as much. It does suggest they were trying to big up the wood to get something out of the NAS. It didn't really matter what it tasted like after all - INVESTIBLE WHISKY BOTTLE. You're better off not opening it.
This is the first time I have ever came across a yellow label Mac Edition 2. I think he said he purchased it Travel Retail. Anyone know if they created different label for it? Maybe this label was a production error and raise the collectibility of the bottle by 100x 😆
Have you tried the whiskey? The tasting notes are even different than most you aee about edition 2. It's honestly my favorite whiskey I've ever had and I've had a lot
I have nothing against Macallan, in fact i would live to flash one in front of mu peers, but other than keeping to around to sell in 15 years i don't see much value in it. Maybe i would if i was very rich, but even then i can think of much better options.
“Like a genie with hemorrhoids” may just be the single best line I’ve ever heard said in the entire Whiskyverse!
hahahaha
Cool shirt!
Another brutally honest assessment.
Cheers 🥃
Always!

Let´s hope that 2023 is the year when Macallan finally hears it´s clients rants and does something about it! 😂
Miracles can happen....
Ye Def my cup of T,,,,top job !!

Glad you enjoyed it! Cheers !!
Recently I had the chance to taste the 18 year old cherry oak, the Glenturret 12 years 2021 edition is way better in my humble opinion.
I must try it then!
"who put pencil shavings in my Macallan?"
God
So strange that my Edition 3 is the exact same color as this #2

You know I've had similar comments made by my friends. Maybe my bottle is fake?
Now in the after market over 1000 per bottle if you can find it... That is why people collect Macallan...
I agree with you

haha too late for that! I think I opened it the second I got home from the airport.
@@MaltActivist Mine's long gone. It all end up down the toilet one way or another.
@@welshtoro3256 haha fair point!
Is it just me that find the yellow label strange? Mine is orange caps and label….
You know I was thinking the same thing cuz when I downloaded the pic for my thumbnail all the No.2s were orange.... strange
the yellow was a ed3 label probably some production failure
@@MaltActivist I've seen a couple like this. His bottle is not the only one'

Gotta agree with you my man
If only the genie had not festered, the whisky may have been likable.
I've been thinking about that
If not for occasionally “diving into a pile of shit” how could you know what a sweet fresh water lake feels like? 🤣🤪😉
