Every time I am invited to a lottery to buy a Pappy, BTAC bottle at retail I pick this one and William Larue Weller. Haven't gotten one as everyone else signs up for these too. None of us have any intention of getting one of these to drink. This is nothing but a Flip bottle. Could use the money to buy Many bottles of truly amazing Scotch. Cheers

They are widely available in bars and restaurants here in the States, usually reasonably priced. Every year I try every single expression of both Pappy and BTAC and one thing I can say is that they are all very good but that’s when we’re talking about retail prices or maybe little bit higher but for 2500$ secondary it’s foolish to leave something like older version of Highland Park 40 and get a 15 year old bourbon which is no where near that experience.

I picked up a bottle today for $500. For that price im willing to hang onto it. Im not sure what life event i will be cracking the bottle open for, but it will be a special day

Trying some of the bourbons I used to love before Scotch, they seem very single dimensional on the palate. Probably a consequence of hammering new make with nothing but virgin oak.
BT has some amazing marketing to the point that most BTAC and Pappy will remain vaporware to all but a lucky few. Even Russell's Reserve 13 was so underwhelming that when I won another on lottery, I donated it to a whiskey group who was nice enough to source a Compass Box Phenomenology for me. Hopefully anyone curious there has been spared that hunt.
I'll believe you over Minnick any day of the week, sir.

Hi MA, as always a good and enjoyable review. Not much of a bourbon fan myself but do enjoy 4 roses single barrel and wild turkey rare breed. Slàinte.

Hype can sometimes ruin a good whiskey, Pappy I think is one such example. I have never had and chances are I will not get a chance in this life time to taste it but the elusiveness , the prohibitive cost and the feedback of those who have tried it, hasn't worked me up to it, in fact the opposite has been the case. May sound sour grapes but there so much more to taste and try in the Whiskey Universe.

Your right. It's good but definitely not the end all be all of bourbons. The grandson even said this. Release limited quantities to drive up the demand and price. Buffalo Trace is definitely following this line of thinking nowadays unfortunately.

There are 8 categories of whisky in America. They are as follows: liqueur single malt, boubon, white, sour mash, corn, rye and whisky😀😁😎🤩 The Poppy Van Winkle Aged 15 Years Family Reserve fall under the boubon categoty👍
Try reviewing Zuidam Millstone OL Sherry from Netherlands🍻🍻🍻🍻

I have been drinking whisk(e)y for 48 years. I remember when Pappy 15 was a standard offering and available at every Liquor store. I bought a bottle and downed 1/3 of it before giving the rest to friend. Didn't like it then and I doubt I would like it now. In fact, the only BT I really like is GTS. I am really loving American single malts as of late.

Ah man 2 for 2 on the Pappies! :( I wonder if any of the uber hyped whiskies ever live up to the hype 🤔 I wouldn't want to spend that much money and not like the whisky. I suppose your mind would trick you to think it's actually amazing and you just need to be more refined 😅 Anyway, great honest review as always.
Ps. there's like a 3 minute blank at the end of the video just in case you need to know for any future technical difficulties.

I mean the price for a PVW15, for that price you have the pick of the litter of an whole array of tremendous old age Scotches. Not that Age necessarily means great whisky but, for the bigger brands they sure signifiy quality. Not something the pappy could live up to, too me. If had a glass of pappy 10. But yeah, to be fair the Buffalo Trace distilliries MSRP for these bottles are waaaaay less.

A very honest review from a seasoned expert. A ton of other whisk(e)y tubers and bloggers are full of it. I thought I was going to reach a state of euphoria when trying a 75 dollar half pour but it turns out it's just a great amazing whiskey and it's nothing too special. The bourbon community is insane.

Also not a big Bourbon fan. So I personally cannot relate to all the hype. I find Bourbon generally very two dimensional versus Scotch single malt.

Gotta agree with you on all fronts. Further investigation shows that this one is not colored or chill filtered.
