For anyone considering knitting the Step by Step sweater, the designer has a video on her UA-cam channel going through every step of the pattern, making it easier to follow for people who are visual learners :) Great video as always! 😊
@@dianeespinoza8647 it’s not that I have never found the use I just have seen the use since watching UA-cam. There’s a real possibility of losing power and it would help keep you warm and my mom goes to dialysis so it can keep her warm on the ride. Plus living in Vegas we are not used to the cold so this can help.
I started a new tradition and cast on my Heart Warmer cowl this morning! I love that I was able to stash dive for this project. My 2023 knitting goal is to use up all my stash yarn.
Last year I knit ten pairs of alofosslopi mittens using a free pattern from tin can knits because I had so much yarn left over after knitting two Icelandic sweaters. They knit up FAST and are so satisfying. If you decide to cast on mittens, be sure to research how to knit a thumb gusset without a hole, which is the bane of most mitten patterns!
Great ideas here! Lots of temptation. I need to "catch" finish-itis first. I had a great time watching this Christmas night. Thanks for sharing and Merry Christmas!
I love your bundles and appreciate the time you invest in the podcast. I need to go back to where you first shared about the Ravelry app and watch again. I would probably jump right on board if it was a good interface for forums.
Thank you, thank you for these ideas. As soon as I saw it on your video, I knew I wanted to make The Lone Skein Shawl and figured I had the yarn, so after a 30-second search, I found the perfect one skein that had been hanging around waiting for the right project. Well, this is it. Got the pattern, found the yarn, grabbed the needles and I am ready for Christmas Eve!
I found an amazing cute lacy scarf for a skein of silk I bought recently (I feel so extravigant!) called Enchanting Scarf on ravelry. It's going to take forever as it's lace weight, but it's a lovely mix of purples, and it's so amazing to work with. It's also a pretty easy lace pattern for a beginner who wants to branch out a bit.
Trigger alert - yarn envy: watched a Canadian podcaster share her thrift store treasure of 16 skeins of Alafloss Lopi at $2 Canadian per skein!!! So envious. 😍
I'm knitting the step by step sweater right now as a Christmas present for my sister. (Yes, I know I need to hurry 😩). Its really easy and nice to follow as a beginner! It's my second garment. My first was a chunky cardigan. Between Christmas and new years I will knit 2 pairs of mittens as birthday presents, hopefully fingerless mittens for myself and a pair of socks for my mom. I have a full 2 weeks off so I hope to accomplish what I planned 😂
I loved your suggestion of using a stash skein of self striping yarn for a sock advent. I pulled one out and cast on 2 at a time. I couldn’t stick to one stripe a day and before I knew it they were finished. 🫢😬🧦🎄😂
Thank you for sharing this video. I know I’m a couple months late for the Christmas/new years thing but I feel like these could be a nice just need a bit of inspiration project and I think the hot water bottle cover would make for a good leading into summer/camping season
I had cast on the step by step sweater mid december and was able to finish it for new years eve. It was my first sweater and i'm already planning on casting on a second step by step sweater. (and florence's robinson wrap cardigan)
I absolutely have itchy fingers, just finished all my crochet and knitting for others and now casting on a mohair beret and a pullover. Love your jammies, merry Christmas from the UK
I am putting your socks on my list ASAP! What a great video for inspiration - as I sit here knitting in the “Whatever speckles your yarn” tshirt my husband bought me for Christmas! ❤️❤️
Thanks for the 'Alice Bag' suggestion - indeed living in Australia its certainly not winter woolies time but a beach bag is a perfect idea for a Christmas knitting project
I love the idea of a New Year's Eve cast on! Our Christmas Eve celebrations don't really allow for much knitting but NYE should be more relaxed. I brought yarn for a Fosette sweater so that will likely be my new cast on. 😊
I had to google what a floof was,, LOL. New word for me. LOVE this video, I got so many ideas that are just great. thank you, thank you. Merry Christmas!! love, hugs, prayers to you and yours.
Thanks so much for the recommendations. I downloaded the bulky mittens pattern, which will make hardly a dent in my five leftover skeins of Alafosslopi after my first sweater (I didn't know how much to buy, so why not really overdo it), but it's a good start.
Have you a list of the patterns and products you mention in your ramble? The “more…” takes me to more videos not the usual list I would find here. Never mind I found it. I do enjoy your videos, thank you for all your effort.
I'm finishing my first steeked cardigan (cut the steek, just deciding on buttons or a zipper) with this pattern, and though I have only been knitting a year, and it's my 2nd sweater I think it turned out very well. Her hand holding video was great.
This is soo good to know. Since mentioning the Step by Step Sweater, I’ve read very similar things. Folks have had the best experience with this pattern and that is so great-and the fact that it’s a free pattern is just amazing. ❤️
I am in North Central FL just below Hawthorne and for 3 nights it's been 17 degrees! Tonigh is the last freezing night then we go up to afternoons of 60 and 70's. My fireplace picked a bad time to malfunction and I couldn't use it at all but nothing like the poor people in Buffalo who really succumbed. Thank you for all the commenters and of course the teachings of this channel. Very classy and professional and such fun without trying to be cute or on stage.
I love the Lone Skein Shawl! I have some leftovers that I think would make a nice color block version in some neutrals. I'm going to have to check it out!
Tayler, this is an amazing video! Thank you so much! Also: I finished my first set of your fire pit mitts for one of my sons and he loves them!! Now I’m making another pair for me😊 - such fun! Thanks for making your patterns available on your website-🎄
OMG I love your gnome! I wanted to climb through the monitor and cuddle him, he's too friggen' adorable. Thank you for another fun episode, I headed straight to Ravelry purchased the Gro hat (have a particular yarn in my stash that needed that special project for and that hat is it!) and the heartwarmer cowl. Now I'm ready to knit for our upcoming Aussie winter. It's been remarkably cold for us Aussies so far this summer, had to resort to the cardi & ugg boots type of cold, usually it's treacherously hot by now.......
Thank you Sjorcha! He’s very cuddly…and sassy. I just love him. ❤️ Enjoy your knits! It’s strange when our summers are unseasonably cool. Especially when they are typically so hot. You’re almost waiting for the weather to be like, “ha! Tricked you! Here’s the real heat!” 🥴 Hoping the rest of your summer is sunny (and not too hot) and happy holidays!☀️❤️
Thank you sooo much for all your recommendations! I got into knitting again a few months! And I love your channel and it is on my regular yt schedule ☺️ Merry Christmas to you and your family and a happy new year!
That gnome is adorable behind you laying sassy. I am like you never the kid or adult comfortable with wearing even the fleece bottoms like pj’s out in public. Going on the Polor Express this year and that is what is encouraged to wear. I will probably do like you to feel comfortable and not like I should have a bathrobe on . These patterns are so exciting to do. I am planning several take alongs with socks for January. In the beginning to sit in the hospital when spouse has surgery. Taking a hot water thermos for hot tea and knitting.
Thank you Bernadette! And enjoy your ride on the Polar Express! What fun! (And yes. Even wearing PJs for something like that gives me pause, but it’s for the kiddos…and you can definitely get cute PJ sets that feel much more like comfy clothes in general. It’s sort of silly I guess that I put soo much thought into this. 🥴 Also, I hope your spouse has a speedy recovery from surgery. ❤️ Merry Christmas!
Great question! And I think so primarily because I see a lot of commercial water bottle covers that are made from the same material (and are also a faux fur) and it doesn’t seem to be a problem. 👍

I have never owned a hot water bottle but I am giving them as gifts this year and I made covers in the recipient’s favorite football team colors
😂😂 ha! you are like, I have never found a use for then but I’m handing them out for gifts . I’d like some feedback please! ❤️

That hot water bottle looks like it’s wearing a turtleneck sweater 🥹 why is that so cute??? Lol
Isn’t it the cutest?! I love it when useful things are given a cute accessory. Lol

For the cowl an accent color section with a mini skein would be cute too if you don't want to ommit a section

Oh good! I just ordered a hot water bottle which will be here Friday so I’ll be knitting it as well. 🙌🙌❤️🎄
Merry Christmas
OMG almost all the way thru watching and just noticed the lounging gnome on your table 😂 he's so sassy! I love it
Thank you! I just picked him up this last weekend. He’s just my kind of sassy. ☺️☺️🎄🎅
Christmas to New Year is designated craft room clean-up time, but if I get motivated I'll be ready for something to start New years eve....
I love your Christmas Eve ideas. Have a wonderful Christmas with your family.
A great video, Taylor!. I love the cowl and the house socks. I still have christmas knitting to finish😏, but then it's all about selfish knitting.
Another awesome Ramble! Yehey! Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas! 🙂
