I first heard him when he was with the group "Change". I used to rollerskate to "The Glow of Love" and "Holiday". His voice told a story like no other and it was so smooth!
I am five years older than Luther if he was alive today. Where was I when he was doing all that beautiful music? Surviving in New York City, 9/11, bad marriage. What a gift to hear him now. What a talent and so horribly sad this beautiful black man was. Luther, I know you are in a very good place. God Bless you.
I remember this segment. I had no idea years ago that he did a jingle for general electric back in the day. This was awesome. I am glad that my late mother, and late grandmother turned me onto his music as a young kid growing up in the early 80s. I’m very proud to say that I have his first three CDs. His music makes me think of my mother and grandmother who left this earth two years after each other. My mom passed on 2013, my grandmother passed on 2015. Rest in peace mom, grandma, and Luther.
His first album dropped a year before I was born, I'm now 40 and love this man's music, what he stood for during his life and life's work as an artist! Regardless to what people may have thought about his sex life, Luther was my uncle via music in our household growing up. With that being said I will and still defend him no matter what because his music is timeless, talent can't be matched, and voice will always be Luther R. Vandross! Love you skinny or big, I just love and miss the man who captivated my ears as a kid growing up!
I share your sentiment. I was almost 3 years old when his first album debuted. My mom and my grandmother played Luther Vandross a lot. Now both of them are gone. By the way, a little fun fact for you. Did you know that he and Freddie Jackson was in the same math class? And as you know both of them is from Harlem New York. By the way, I just turned 45 last month and I'll be 46 in 2024 in November.
@@lamara8497 you're welcome. If you pay attention near the end of the video, he says I am more famous than the person that was in my math class, and less famous than Michael Jackson.
@ProfessorB Media Luther sang with Change on "Searching" and "The Glow of Love", he didn't sing "A Lover's Holiday". That was someone else. Change was really a studio band the line-up was, rather aptly, constantly changing.
Though Luther bemoaned about him being less famous than the King of Pop, they both were platinum-selling artists on the Epic label during the eighties and nineties.
Hmm, sounds very much like a instrumental version of All True Man by Alexander O'Neal. Not sure if they would use a non-Luther song in a Luther episode but it strongly has that All True Man vibe
Luther will be in my heart forever. I will never let him go. He was the very best!
Luther could have sung a phone book and made it sound great

He has one of the best voices, yet he was such a humble person.
Luther was soooo amazing! All his music was a blessing to the world🦋

I miss this man
What a beautiful soul. He stayed on ready to sing. Interview, street corner, kitchen, whatever. This is a great clip.
I just love this. Luther could sing about peanut butter & jelly and it would sound great
He's the greatest male voice of all time to me 💖👑

And before his first solo album he was with the group Change with a sigle Lover's Holiday and The Glow Of Love back in 1980.

Wow, they forgot he was with a group called Change.

He also did a jingle for juicy fruit gum commercial back in 1981.

Roberta was the one who gave him his big break!
Wow
R I p
I want a pepsi now
Name of song at the very end. While he was sitting in the car?😊
The song that you are thinking about near the end is titled nights in Harlem by Luther Vandross.
He could have been rich just off of the royalties alone.
What’s the song at 2:07?
Hmm, sounds very much like a instrumental version of All True Man by Alexander O'Neal. Not sure if they would use a non-Luther song in a Luther episode but it strongly has that All True Man vibe
@@elquebi yeah, they sound very similar. It’s probably the “no copyright infringement intended” version lol. That groove just caught my ear 😂
@SnypezTooHype thanks! 🙏🏼 it’s crazy how those two songs sound so much alike tho
@SnypezTooHype I definitely appreciate it 👍🏼 I’m really messing with it, I already listened to it twice since you hipped me to it 😂
I’ve got the song that you’re looking for. It’s titled heaven knows. It’s from the 1993 album never let me go. There! That should solve the problem.
So they just forgot about Roberta Flack?
Luther wasn’t rock lmao
