@@themagicallandscape I'm about to switch from Sony to Fuji as a hybrid shooter, so I'm trying to familiarize myself with the system. I'm enjoying it a lot.
Oh, nice! Fuji is a great hybrid system! I love Sony too (the R series specifically), but as a hybrid system, Fuji ticks so many boxes. Enjoy your switch journey 👍
5 years i'm using fuji and could not find out how to change F with the front gear. i was using fuji with two hands till now, changing f on the lenses.. unbelievable. thanks a lot, dude
Thanks, Ron! yeah, the XT3 is a great camera! I've been really enjoying it! Are you using a gimbal for your work? I just picked up my first one and have yet to learn it. Just barely getting into video myself.
@@themagicallandscape lovin it so far! Are you still using your XT3 till now? Any major/minor issues for you? Maybe you could do a review video for that 😁🤘🏼
Not using an XT3 right now. I'm a constant switcher when it comes to gear. Testing out some other cameras, but will likely go back to the XT3. Only issue was when it first came out in 2018 it froze on me every so often where I had to take the battery out to restart. But that has been fixed with firmware.
Hello, this should work in movie mode, too. Same settings, but make sure to turn your movie silent control off. (Menu > Movie Camera Icon > scroll down to page 5/5 > Movie Silent Control > Off). If it is on, these settings will not work.
@@themagicallandscape Ah, yes, that was the issue! - a bit annoying though, I was hoping that I'll be able to use the top dials for photo and the command dials for video, but not sure that's possible. Specifically, I set my shutter to 1/100 for photo (for example), but when switching to video, I need it at 1/25 otherwise I get flickering from LED lights - and if my shutter dial is set, the command dial works strangely and doesn't let me go all the way down to 1/25.
Fuji just makes it too confusing. Those dedicated ISO and exposure compensation dials are next to useless. The exposure compensation dial is ergonomically placed in the wrong place as I have to take my thumb and palm of the hand off the camera to change it, hence unstabilising the camera.
Hello Efrem please let me know how to enable exposure lock for spot metering only then shoot the photo and after the shot the camera itself returns back to multi mode. Thank you for your response!
Hmmm...honestly not sure how to do that. I don't have the X-T3 at the moment, but on the X-T4 if you go to the menu > wrench icon > button/dial setting > AE/AF-Lock Mode, you can change the exposure lock to #1 "when pressing" or #2 "on/off switch." This possibly is on the X-T3 as well. For #1, you have to keep holding your assigned AE-L button if you want to lock exposure, but when you release it, it goes back to exposing for whatever you are pointing at. For #2, when the AE Lock is engaged, it keeps than same exposure until you switch it off, where it will subsequently re-evaluate the exposure when the AE Lock is switched off. Hope this helps a little...If anyone knows out there, please chime in. Thanks!
@@themagicallandscape Thank you so much for your helpful and prompt advice , please tell me according to your experience is XT4 better for stills than XT3, do they have the same functions and capabilities, dynamic range? please let me know thanks again!
IQ is not much of a difference if any. One would be hard pressed to notice much of a difference in image quality as they share the same sensor and processor. Dynamic range is the same to me...even the XT2 was great. The difference in the XT4 is just some of the convenience of the small functions like auto focus bracketing and being able to switch between photo and video easily. The battery life surprisingly has been my favorite thing on the XT4. IBIS is a nice luxury to have for stills, but not necessary for me personally in most situations. Others may find it extremely useful. If you were to focus on stills only, the XT3 is more than enough. Does video, IBIS, longer battery life, and a flip screen really intrigue you or will be useful to you? Then XT4.
Hey Efrem, thanks for those tips, however that's just what I want to get away from 😂, with my current dslr (nikon d750). I learned on a film slr (Minolta x-e7) back in the day, and that's why I'm looking forward to the x-t4! The controls are like my old film camera. Still good tips, just not for me tho! 😊
I watched the video and had the same problem. Couldn’t get it to switch from ISO to aperture after clicking the front dial. He left out an extra step. You have to get back into the Button/Dial settings and go to the 3rd page. “Aperture Ring Settings” has to be changed from Auto to Command. Now it works as he showed in the video.
Thanks for watching...please see description for additional step. I somehow left it out of the video 😬
It's August, year 2020, and this video taught me in 2.5 minutes what I was trying to figure out for about an hour by myself. Thank you kind sir.
You're welcome! Glad it helped...thanks for watching 🙏

Direct and concise, brilliant
Nice, gonna try this. I use back button focus already. 👍
Many thanks - clear instructions with clear steady video. Thank you.
Thanks for the tips! I shot alot of cinematic videos with the XT3. Its a great camera we have. Thanks for sharing. Nice work!

It will work initially, but then it will not toggle between F and ISO on the front command dial. Camera issue or set up issue?
Thanks 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Does this work with the 18-55 lens? I cant get the front command dial to control aperture with this lens.
Yes, it should work with that lens, too.
@@KevinG-159 Thanks for watching...please see description for additional step. I somehow left it out of the video 😬
Hi Michelle. It does work. Same as shown with the ISO setting to "Command" you have to do the same with the Aperture. Cheers
My Auto ISO is always on with settings you explained, so annoying. Please help.
Thank you works on the X-H1 the same..
excellent! thanks for watching! Are you going to get the XT4 or keep the XH1???
okay but what if i wanna quickly switch to auto? i have to go back into the menu and change the setting
This works for images, but when I switch to video, the dials do nothing. Any ideas how to make them work for video?
