Rick left us too soon! What a voice! Have you considered doing a Band Tribute with Amy Helm, Garth, Robbie? It would be a fitting tribute to the ones who have left us!
I have loved The Band since I first heard "Up on Cripple Creek" when I lived in New York City in 1969. I had come to the US from Denmark as an au pair in 67, lived in Ct. then moved to NYC. When I was a teenager in Denmark, I was mostly into jazz, Copenhagen at that time was the jazz capital of Europe. Then in 67 all of sudden there were The Doors, and Sgt. Pepper, loved them. However, as soon as I heard The Band I could tell they were different. I had there brown album and a double CD with their biggest hit. Hadn't played them for awhile, then I found "The Weight" from The Last Waltz, and I felt like getting reconnected. I love all of them, I always thought Robbie was very good looking when he was younger. I bought Robbie's book Testimony a few months ago, and then decided to really reconnect with The Band and all members. When I discovered "It makes no difference" from The Last Waltz, Rick's singing blew me away, since then I have been obsessed with finding out as much about him as I can. Ordered Barney Hoskyns book "Across the Great Divide", and watched video's on Utube. Robbie might have been better looking, but there's something about Rick's personality and singing that draws you in. So much feeling and soul, just breaks your heart. By the way when Rick was younger I think he was very good looking as well, lot's of charisma. As you can probably tell I'm a female with an eye for good looking men. My favorite songs of Ricks, as mentioned "It makes no difference" Stage Freight, A long black veil, the first verse of Evangaline, his raspy voice is so unique. I don't really like to compare music and musicians, since all have something unique to offer. I use to say The Doors were my favorite sixties band, however I think I have to change that to The Band, with The Doors a close second. Sorry for your loss.
He was a GREAT ONE! Gone too soon. Wish I could have met him.... Thanks for sharing! Wonderful lyrics and voice that catches your soul. None of the band is alive anymore. But they will always be remembered in our hearts. It was one of my elderly best friends who introduced me to Danko musically ... He also passed away four years ago. I will always be GRATEFUL 🙏🏻💖🙏🏻 for what I'm still enjoying. LOVE & PEACE to everyone ❤️🌈☮️
Thank you to whoever posted this - I loved him since I was a kid - love the whole family Elizabeth if you're out there - thanks for showing me what class is - -
Another autumn night, it's getting chilly Birds are gathering: 'round, getting ready The moon and the sun are both so heavy Barely off the ground He's turning the wheels of his daddy's plow Sowing the land that's been handed down Singing a song from a book that's faded brown Mary she's on the step, she's waiting Hair is like a light from heaven The family comes together now Believe in what they found Grace is said at the table round A prayer before they settle down Side by side in a book that's faded brown Have you ever wondered why There's a rainbow in the sky? It's all the tears that God has been crying And it leaves the world And it leaves the world With a rainbow for a crown, oh Those that said, said they're the outsiders Are only easy riders on a Horse that's going lame For the way of the world is upside down They can all hold handswhen They walk through town Side by side with a book that's faded brown Have you ever wondered why There's a rainbow in the sky? It's all the tears that God has been crying And it leaves the world And it leaves the world With a rainbow for a crown, oh By the way have I told you already That his parents were buried by A tree that they loved The way of the world is upside down Even the flowers stood without a sound Pressed together in a book that's faded Pressed together in a book that's faded Pressed together in a book that's faded brown Bound together in a book that's faded brown I hope it's not too late, friend 🙂
Thank you. I guess I've lived long enough that the notion that it is only after something is gone do you begin to appreciate what was. Thankfully we have posts such as this.
Beautiful song. I don't think this is the version from Jericho The lyrics are a little different and there is no accordian on the bridge on this one.Theres a piano. Anybody know where this is from ?
@@martinkent333 What does that mean? Yes Rick had addiction problems, but that doe not take away from his talent and his endearing personality and charisma.
@@hannejeppesen1809 Your critical thinking skills enjoy bottomfeeders who conned you into adoring 3 chord drugggies. You are not creepy and kids should adore three chord druggies too. Everyone should enjoy these train wrecks. The Band were not friends to each other.
@@martinkent333 You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. Besides that I have a hard time comprehending your meaning. What exactly is a 3 chord druggie. Granted English is my second language but never heard that word before
great song and fantastic performance big brother, miss ya..Terry
Terry Danko Agreed. Your brother was one of a kind. He’s missed. Best harmony singer that I’ve ever heard, and a great lead singer in his own right.

No one's voice can break my heart quite like this man's. RIP, Rick. Thanks for the music. Miss your talent and sweet soul.
I agree... just the first few seconds of "Out of the Blue" or "It Makes no Difference" and I'm a mess.

Does anybody have the lyrics to this song? Thanks
Another autumn night, it's getting chilly
Birds are gathering: 'round, getting ready
The moon and the sun are both so heavy
Barely off the ground
He's turning the wheels of his daddy's plow
Sowing the land that's been handed down
Singing a song from a book that's faded brown
Mary she's on the step, she's waiting
Hair is like a light from heaven
The family comes together now
Believe in what they found
Grace is said at the table round
A prayer before they settle down
Side by side in a book that's faded brown
Have you ever wondered why
There's a rainbow in the sky?
It's all the tears that God has been crying
And it leaves the world
And it leaves the world
With a rainbow for a crown, oh
Those that said, said they're the outsiders
Are only easy riders on a
Horse that's going lame
For the way of the world is upside down
They can all hold handswhen
They walk through town
Side by side with a book that's faded brown
Have you ever wondered why
There's a rainbow in the sky?
It's all the tears that God has been crying
And it leaves the world
And it leaves the world
With a rainbow for a crown, oh
By the way have I told you already
That his parents were buried by
A tree that they loved
The way of the world is upside down
Even the flowers stood without a sound
Pressed together in a book that's faded
Pressed together in a book that's faded
Pressed together in a book that's faded brown
Bound together in a book that's faded brown
I hope it's not too late, friend 🙂
We always made sure to tell him how happy his music(and the Band) made us feel and thanked him for that!!
Love this song
12 years out. Peace, Rick.

Probably from "Times Like These".

The innocence in his voice is heart-wrenchingly beautiful.

Remember the jelly beans. ♥ Miss you
@Twilight37 A gem indeed.
俺のなかでは未だに世界一のベースプレイヤー。歌い手の技量もピカ一で、いい曲も書ける。なのに生涯でソロアルバムがたった一枚なのが返す返す残念。アルバム「RICK DANKO」は最高でした。
SWEET
Amazing. Thank You!
Fantastic!
Is this the version on the cd? i wonder
Thank you Rick. Rip
