- GaMetal enters THE VOID to take on Exdeath's normal battle theme, Decisive Battle, from Final Fantasy V!
This is the latest Patreon drawing winner for XenomorphicTendencies. I've always thought this would be a really interesting song to do, considering it's a bit different from most Final Fantasy boss themes. It changes up quite often and the original barely has any snare drum. It's extremely tense.
I've also included 'Evil Lord Exdeath' as the intro and the backing for the guitar solo section.
I'm still planning on doing Clash on the Big Bridge sometime this year, so don't worry, I didn't forget! Maybe even Neo-Exdeath too. We'll see. :)

Ex Death being a tree may seem funny but this wicked tree is made out of thousands of demons, and to me thats pretty fucking metal.
That and he was a total f***ing d!ckhead 🤣
He may not be one of the most complex of bad guys. But his battle theme is terrifying.

Sephiroth destroys plenty of worlds. He just always gets the same ones over and over during the battle.

Exdeath is near the top of my list of "Names to run away from really fast."
I think any name that literally includes the word "death" would qualify, really.
ExDeath is overqualified. By far one of the most powerful FF bosses. Top 3, at least.

Actually, Exdeath (not even Neo Exdeath) has the power to erase all of existence once he gains control of the Void. Sure, Kefka may have techically won, but the power of the Warring Triad can't even compare to the power of the Void.
Admit it, Galuf vs Exdeath was one of the best moments of that game. ;)

Exdeath scared me. More than Kefka. More than Sephiroth. And I think its because his evil is so pure, and simple.

Well it's not inaccurate. The void is simultaneously existence and the lack there of. It's like fire with the power to destroy but also promote new life

the void is void because the void has been voided and since it has been voided it is now void and since the void is in the void it creates a paradox of the void causing a glitch is the system then causing the universe to end via void and due to the universe being ended by the void, other multiverses will be swallowed up via void even quicker than before, and their void will be voided via the original void thus creating an even bigger void and causing more voids to be swallowed up *BREATHE* that's all I am gonna say.

FFV is my favorite game of the series.I know it is considered weak among fans, but that is the 1st FF game i ever played and it was enough for me to fall love with the franchise.
It wasn't the first one I played, but it's still my favourite. I love customization and FF5 does it well.
I get the impression that generally a strong plot is what makes a JRPG "age well" from that period (according to most people), so both FF3 and FF5 are relegated to the bottom of the list as they were straight forward. Both 3 and 5 took risks in system development and pulled it off though. In the context of their time though they are both extremely important in the series IMO.
There is absolutely nothing weak about FFV
The first FF you play usually is your favourite mine is 4 and the next one I like the most is FF5 ! Such a great game then comes 2 and 6
I consider the Japanese II the weakest in the series.

Every other version I've heard but the original seems to forget the drums, it's infuriating.
The drums are essential to this piece of musical excellence! If anything, I would say that there is feedback from the drum track that you can only really hear if you have great hearing or you turn up the volume way too high, it sounds like a digital bleep, and I hate it, but also, I feel like the drums should be an octave lower, because these drums are fricken war drums. Let it hit ya in the gut

I like how you integrate both Exdeath's letimotif and his battle theme into this song so naturally.
You're the only person I've ever heard handle the percussion for these pieces well. Other folk usually do some really synthy bass or muted drum effect. Bah! The drums need to be loud, front and center. This is meant to sound climactic and violent: percussion can really help that along.
THIS! The original SNES song was intended to be brutal, primal, and sinister and you really felt the intensity in the percussions. This is the only remix that really did his battle song justice.
100% agree - even in FFXIV, which has amazing OST, they ruined the original feel of the song by almost fully skipping out on the percussion

I know I'm in the minority, but Final Fantasy V is my second favorite in the series. I love this game so much and the music is a big part of the reason why. This is an awesome arrangement/cover.

Exdeath music always appeals to his evil side (maybe the most evident evil side in any 8-16 bit FF game for a final foe).
In other order of things, did hurt me so much that in the beginning of the battle theme, the bass wasn't more frontal in the mix, but nonetheless an amazing cover for this powerful theme.
BTW, one of your guitars (blue one) has Sethan's (Alessi's stand) eye, so that's a Jojo reference? 😁

This has never been more apt than when doing Deltascape V4 Normal and V4 Savage in FFXIV.
This gave me CHILLS! Final Fantasy V is my absolute favorite Final Fantasy game and this fight was terrifying as a kid. I love what you've done with this track!

This is a master piece, I've always liked this theme but since we usually hear once per playthrough I never though too much of this theme.
But hearing it here, crystal clear and witnessing such effort on this interpretation. It is mindblowing.

I was amazed by this theme, and I did not expect Exdeath's theme playing at the beginning. FFV, to this day, is one of my favorite RPGs and all time favorite FF of all time and I enjoyed every moment of it. Is there a way you can do an acoustic version of Home, Sweet Home?

@@soronexle2681 Actually, the "void" that the Cloud of Darkness is after is simply the absence of light or dark. She just wants to make the world return to nothing because of the imbalance. ExDeath's void is the space between reality (and something more mystic at the same time), and thus has actual power.

Just listened to the Final Fantasy XVI version, had to come listen to your cover after because it has the meat that the 14 version lacks.
