Do not besmerch Smash 64 with this Wii U crap. Smash 64, Melee and Project M all have REAL FUCKING COMBOS, not utilt utilt utilt utilt usmash. In Melee, with Falcon you can uthrow or dair a floaty into nair -> uair -> fair. THAT'S a real combo. Sakurai unfortunately will never again put enough HITSTUN into a Smash game again to allow that kind of awesomeness, he'd rather see players win by randomness. It's so bad in Smash 4 that the characters even capable of "comboing" like Bayonetta are the ones that are top tier, not the variety or complexity of their combos like Fox and Falco in Melee.
I love how even Smash players think that comp players are the best XD I remember back in 98 when I was the king of Smash64 in my neighborhood and was "unbeatable". My new friend beat me when I was my best character (Pikachu) and evidently I raged like crazy; you never know who might be better than you. The whole casual/comp thing has made gaming really lame - everyone has delusions of grandeur and just flat out assumes that anyone that doesn't play comp couldn't beat a comp player.
I would consider myself between a casual and a pro. I don't button mash, and I turn off all items. Granted, this is not all the criteria necessary to be a non-casual, but my skill level is a handful of notches below a pro. Also, I like math

Ace plays with Nate and no surprise at all Ace gets combo'd like no tomorrow. Suddenly, Ace complains and tells Nate it's just a game and that Nate doesn't have to combo him to oblivion and that Nate should "learn to have fun". Would you still use the logic of the game was meant to have fun even though Mortal Kombat was CREATED as a Competitive Fighting Game?

We made a pact where we'd just use our smashes away from the other person and let them recover to the stage before resuming, but he completely forgot what Cloud's FS does, went to the side of the stage, charged away from the stage and sd'd. If there's one thing I love in Smash 4, it's finding friendly competitors in For Glory. You know, the kind of players who are on the same level of skill as you and are good sports to boot? Those are always the most fun matches. That and blue moon matches where you just dick around for 5 minutes. Those are hilarious

You know what I always find hilarious? When casual players who don't like competitive smash always try to say "I'm playing the game like Sakurai intended." If his intention was for everyone to play smash with all items on, on The Great Cave Offensive stage, don't you think he would have never put in the option to turn that off? His intention was for players to play the game how they like to play it, and if some players like it better without items and playing on Smashville, I don't think he'd really complain. If something shows up that he didn't intend, then he'd get it fixed, kind of what he may or may not do with Bayonetta now that MKLeo showed sakurai how Bayonetta REALLY is.

You main one character out of 70+ fighters, no items and no special, interesting settings on the same damn stage for 300+ battles until you get the next game. The point is to EXPERIMENT. It's a party game, not dedicated fighter. Sorry if that triggers you. You might as well have stuck with 4 if you were gonna play like that. No one said you had to play a certain way. Just don't be mad at the non-sweaty tryhards who play the game to its fullest extent. If you truly want to be the best, be the best at every format in the game. Then we can talk. Because much like a real fight, fighting games have many different senarioes and situations that you need to get situated to. I wouldn't be surprised if you got your ass beat by a casual with a couple items on FD. Because competitive is so used to it off. Is being competitive bad? No. Is being competitive fun to some people? Yes. Regardless, you're paying $60 for the full experience, so man up and own up to your mistakes. Not everyone wants to play like that all the damn time.
