I've always wondered how that coating was done. I had the best ever toffee popcorn from an Amish stall at a farmers' market in PA some 20 years ago. Now I'm going to try your sister's method. It looks delish!

I do a similar one but with baking soda added at the end instead of sweetened condensed milk. Then I spread it on cookie sheets and bake on low for half an hour or so to dry it. Break it up as it cools so it doesn't harden into one big mass. It's also a good topping for mini pretzels.

I have a 40-year-old recipe to make caramel corn (I add peanuts) and it's delicious, but after coating the corn I need to slow bake the corn in the oven for an hour, tossing it every 15 minutes. This recipe looks like a great alternative... it uses condensed milk and makes more of a toffee than mine. As a hint... I air pop my corn (yes it sacrifices the flavors from the oil). I don't have any really large steel bowls, so I use two aluminum turkey roasting pans from the dollar store! Works like a charm, as I said I have to bake my corn. Thank you and your family for being so informative and entertaining!

Years ago a friend gave us some home grown strawberry popcorn. Got us hooked! Over the years we have tried black and red from the grocery store and finally settled on 50 pound bags of red from Amish Country Popcorn. They have a wonderful assortment of sizes and colors of pop corn. Now that is only 2 of us we stopped with the 50 pound bags :).

I live in Indiana and confirm that our popcorn is hands down THEE BEST! It is literally growing in the fields on my road. We even grow our own in our large garden.
Sad to report that next year instead of more of our delicious popcorn growing in many of those fields south of my house, that they will be replaced with solar fields instead. 5 solar farms will be in my county next year. Each one will be 1,700 to 2,200 ACRES each. Prime farm land to be forever ruined by solar farms. We already have close to large 200 windmills and now solar. Sadly it won’t used by anyone close to us.

I love that caramel popcorn recipe and have used it for years. I like to cook it just a little more firm and make popcorn balls. I put each popcorn ball in a sandwich bag. I put about 6 popcorn balls in a larger plastic bag (so they are double wrapped). Surprisingly, they freeze like magic. They take up a-lot of freezer room, but boy are they great!

My mother would use a pot like yours. She had it down to a science. She used a small old tomato purée can for a popcorn measure. And knew how much oil to use per patch. She seldom had a maryjane. I miss her dearly. I make my caramel corn differently. I make my caramel different from yours. After I pour it on my popcorn l put in in a low temp oven stirring a lot. We often add peanuts to the mix. Enjoyed your video thank you.
