"Odie isn't a dog" is one I saw on another iceberg. Since several incarnations of Odie show up in several of Garfield's Nine Lives and God makes it very clear that cats are the only animals with nine lives, Odie isn't a dog.

My dad knew Jim Davis as a kid. My grandma would take him to the theatre in Muncie and Jim Davis would draw comics for my dad while my grandma was doing rehearsals.

Edit: I now know it wasn’t his last appearance, nor is that game really canonical. But, you can’t deny it’s very fucked up that somewhere out there in the Garfverse, Lyman is in Jon’s basement.

Hey everyone. I'm the creator of the original iceberg image. First of all thank you SO MUCH for making this video and i'm really glad I could help with it. Also so many people have asked why I didn't include r/imsorryjon and the answer is because I wanted to stick with official Garfield stuff (with a couple exceptions). If it were on there it'd probably be around the surface of the iceberg.

Since you're literally the only person who'd appreciate these, here are my Garfield facts about myself:
• I have read every single published Garfield comic from 1978 to 2011 where he switched to digital.
• I grew up about 15 minutes from Fairmount, Indiana where Jim Davis grew up and passed a sign with Garfield on it every day.
• I frequented a Children's Museum where there was a recreation of Garfield's house built inside, as well as several Garfield themed attractions like a green screen self insert video game thing and educational material.
• I took several art classes done by Davis. I've always been interested in cartooning, animation, and comics, so he was big inspiration for me.
• Odie is my favorite character.
• Ironically I liked the Gnorm Gnat character more than Garfield because he was a bug and I was more of a fan of bugs.
• I had a grandfather figure who was the carpenter who built Davis' house and would occasionally bring me sketches Jim did for me. (All lost now.)
• Jim would frequent a bookstore I worked at during college and he'd sign random copies of Garfield collections and hide them on the shelf.
• I was first in line to read his Mr Potato Head comic. It was shit.

There’s a few lake house properties on the hunting land my dad hunts at, there is an old dude who puts little figures on stumps by the dirt road to the field. One of them is a Garfield figure so whenever we pass it I say “hello there Garfield”

There was a ride in PA called "Garfield's Nightmare" at the theme park Kennywood. It was a water ride where you went on a boat past comic strips and full sized statues and told a decently sized story. It was recently converted to another ride called "The Old Mill". Thats just an interesting Garfield tidbit!

I remember when I was a kid, I would spend a lot of my spare time reading through Garfield comics in my elementary school's library. I can't say I'm as much of a megafan as you, but Garfield has always had such a special place in my heart because of it. This is amazing. Garfield reminds me of the fans of simpsons and sonic. The creativity and cursed vibes from the fans creations are kinda alike. The simpsons fans recreated the whole manga of akira with simpsons characters. Sonic fans created Sonic Dream, a really weird and cursed game that I think even markiplier made a video on, and one fan comic creator even got an official job working for sonic. Idk, they're just vibing

I went to watch Garfield and his 9 lives. No idea how it did it, but it managed to make me cry.
After how surreal many of the segments were, the return to normalcy at life 8 was such a relief.
The “Garfield Alone” comic gave me nightmares growing up. I remember staying up late, reading through my dad’s massive collection of Garfield compilation books, and coming across this one. I was horrified yet enamored with it. I kept coming back to read the comic long after I first discovered it, even though it was my worst nightmare.
Thus, a psychological horror enjoyer was born.

6:03 THIS!!! This game is my oldest internet memory and as I get older it’s actually just one of my earliest memories period. I couldn’t have been older than 3-4 when I played it, and it scared the absolute hell out of me, but I played it like every day and managed to beat it a few times. I replayed it years ago before flash died and it was actually still pretty fun :) warms my heart to see it here
As a child i used to religiously watch the first live action garfield movie. by the way my mom tells it at some point in my life i would not be able to go to sleep unless she put on the garfield movie for me. to this day i love the movie. when you said that the movies were widely hated i had to do a double because i was actually surprised by that statement. man the power of nostalgia.
diana’s piano made me cry so hard as a child, and watching it recently made me bawl just as hard, it’s simultaneously the most simple and poignant story in the entire special and it’s stuck with me my entire life.

My favorite fan edit of Garfield is the one that removes thought bubbles from the comics. I'm pretty sure Jon doesn't know what the animals think in the thought bubbles and the edits just truly show how insane he is.

I watched "Garfield and Friends" every Saturday as a kid in the '90s! Also, I loved the "9 Lives" TV special too. It was a little creepy but I loved it, especially the Diana segment ( even though it ended a little sad 😔) the different art styles all intermixed made it a wild ride.

This is both one of the greatest and most unsettling vids I’ve ever seen, up until I was about 10 years old I was obsessed with Garfield and extremely deep into his fandom and lore, somehow I knew a large amount of these things but a lot of the stuff you covered surprised, amazed and even shocked me! It’s 3am and my brain is slightly freaking out from both the nostalgia and the horrors of the garfield’s 9 lives things… because those were so terrifying and amazing to me as a kid lol. Odie being smart makes sense; I made a D&D character which was Garfield as a warlock with powers granted to him by Odie, who was Odin in disguise.
The Garfield and Friends section just hit me with the most random (and dated) memory. I remembered being a little kid, probably 5 or 6, and getting super sick and I couldnt go to school. My mom took me to the local Blockbuster and I picked up most, if not all, of dvds they had of Garfield and Friends. I binged it all day until im pretty sure my mom was sick of it 😂

Growing up, I read every Garfield comic the children's section of my local library had, including the original "9 Lives" (had no idea there was a redo), the anniversary book and one single, solitary random US Acres book. Never got a chance to see the show or the specials tho. Was really a treat to see a Garfield iceburg! Keep it up! ❤
