Nuno strikes me as a guy who goes into the studio, records 2 passes of a song and the engineers are like, "Thanks Nuno, we have everything we need". The guy is SO ridiculously talented. His groove, timing, style, control.....Incredible.
😂❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😊😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
I have a producer friend who works with Nuno, and I'm sure he agrees.
You should watch his interview with Rick Beato - that’s exactly what he likes to do 😂
Lol, he is pretty much the producer/engineer.
One of the baddest ass guitarists EVER. He deserves so much more recognition it’s ridiculous.
I love how Nuno talks to the audience. He's very personable, and he's an amazing guitar player.
This man is really my favorite guitarist for a long time. He's the perfect combination with the killer riffs from Jimmy Page, the wild sound from Jimi Hendrix, the melodic and the dramatic vibratos like Brian May and the virtuosity from Eddy Van Halen and Yngwie Malmsteen. Nuno really created a style of rock, mixing funk, groove, pop and heavy metal. And what a great composer, singer, showman... come on. He's really the greatest! What a nice dude too.
While I agree with your list of influential icons I gotta say Jeff Beck's virtuosic whankery had to have been fuel for NB's fret flying ways 👍
Agreed! I met him at a meet and greet and he was really cool...
He can play way better than Jimmy Page live.
@@andrewhinds6560 Hopefully without Jimmy Page's "tastes" outside music.
@wilson75 do you hate this guy because he knows more than you do? What's the matter with you? Knowledge must inspire respect just as ignorance should be despised.
this guy is seriously the most underrated virtuoso guitarist alive.
Ron thal Bumblefoot
Bumblefoot is A Buckethead wannabe
Richie Kotzen.
agreed. He doesn't get listed up there with the top 5 but his place should be there.
Matthew Vincent nnuunnoo is king and Stephen Percy is rraatttt droppings
I tried for this once. Flight of the wounded wannabee
Best comment of the day! How the hell this doesn't have more thumbs up
For the observant - its nowhere near as hard as he's making it seem, because of use of fast delay. Might have a go at this to confirm. Sorry to shatter the smoke and mirrors :D
@@afoster1621 Well ...the *delayed* flight then ...
@@heaththompson3834 I am working on it in the wing. Currently waiting on investors to commit to funding the next 8 months of outreach ...
😅🤣😂
This guy is just sick.. why the hell is he not more known ? Unbelievably talented & crazy impressive .. wow !!
Sort of a hack to be honest
You, sir are incorrect. He's the real deal. I just watched him on Life in Six Strings with Kylie Olsson. Music is in his DNA. 10 siblings all musicians growing up poor in a small house filled with every instrument you could think of. The wide age range meant they were all into different genres and he played all genres from a young age. The real deal.😮
he is known and has been since early 90's. I live in a rural town in eastern Canada and they were huge even here., every musician knows Nuno, Extreme has was really bug even back then. "More than words"? a major hit,"get the fink out" etc etc
His right hand palm muting and clarity is off the chain! Little Distortion, heavy compression, and a whole lotta talent makes this guy a guitar god!
Anyone that grew up listening to Extreme and pinpoint Nuno’s sound in an instant. It’s very unique
Me at guitar center in my head
Me at guitar center (what it actually looks like): *Richard Benson*
Unless you are a guitar head, Nuno is one of the most underrated guitarists out there.
I started playing in 94 and never gave it a thought to hear Nuno because I never got into Extreme. I had/have the taste (or lack thereof) of a heavier sound. I have my heroes on the totem pole and Nuno has found his way there for me. Underrated? Absolutely.
Who is responsible for doing the underrating? He must be stopped, now!!!
❤ A huge fan of Nuno! At a loss for words for his magnificent talent. And boy, o boy, why is he so good looking?
Nuno is absolutely in the same class as Paul Gilbert and Jason Becker - but rarely mentioned as a guitar god
Becker wrote immortal music. Bettencourt stands higher than Gilbert in my book, but that's not enough to come among the very top guys.
I think it's probably because of the peers he came to notoriety around. Paul Gilbert made a name for himself in Racer X. Everyone in that band was at least of equal caliber and they wrote music that showed that off. Jason Becker started with Marty Friedman making music where they both showed their skills fully. Nuno gained fame in Extreme who came around during the hair metal era so they got lumped into that category. The guys in Extreme were talented but they weren't Jason Becker or Scott Travis level. Jason Becker would have known no boundaries to his skill level had his ability to play not been taken away.
Horseshit
backslash68 I think he prefers it that way
Underrated for sure!
hes a total beast...his acoustic playing is phenomenal his lead and rhythm playing are obscenely good...he can sing...AND hes so humble and chill in his teaching/interviews....and he can knock the snot out of the overhyped "gods" of guitar....truly remarkable
Nuno - "we are not worthy,..."
Nuno seems like an awesome guy for sure. Also I wish I was that good looking haha.
His fretwork is really clean too... i can move around the guitar at that speed but it doesn't sound that good loool
Which overhyped gods are those?
As Beato just stated in 2023, Nuno is THE guy now
I remember going to see Bill & Ted at the theater and then the mall scene erupted with this song. I went straight to the local Record Bar and bought Extreme and the soundtrack. Have been a fan of Nuno ever since.
There was a concert. Winger, Extreme, Tangier, and Ban Tango. I drove 3 hours to see Nuno Bettencourt. WORTH EVERY PENNY.
As a guitarist myself I am always amazed how awesome real pros are.
That playing is mind blowing. What the best are doing for a solo, Nuno is doing that stuff for half of the song.
It always wows me when a player has the stage presence to match their technical prowess. Making his craft look easy while engaging the audience is such a skill in itself
This is probably my favorite moment of Generation Axe and of course some of Vai.
As a musician for many years myself never in conversation does any guitarist ever mention Nuno, except for me. truly one of the greatest guitarists and a really awesome dude on top of it.
true. hey you know about Criss Oliva? in my experience, he gets overlooked even worse. i mean, every single one of his solos are just god tier stuff yet nobody ever talks about him
@@hazardeur obscure band and he's not around anymore. :-(
I loves me some 'Tage, but I gotta agree that Nuno is the most gifted rock guitarist on plant Earth today. I've been fortunate enough to see pretty much all of the legends in concert, (Van Halen, Beach, Lynch, Malmsteen, Petrucci, Dimbag, Lee, etc) and no one can touch Nuno. I'm not even a fan of his band's tunes, but his talent is undeniable. Have you had a chance to see him live? If not, I highly recommend it.
Cheers!
@@machupikachu1085 sadly never yet but i hope to change that sooner than later. they rarely do euro tours (or tours at all) though
Brian May always gives Nuno a mention.
Beautiful, amazing Nuno.
He's like, ridiculously perfect: A gorgeous man, a great singer and overall, an incredibly gifted musician who happens to be a hell of a guitar player.
Nuno, the most beautiful man I've ever seen in my life. ❤
I saw this tour, and Nuno was my favorite. Very personable, and hilarious, and didn't have a problem sharing the stage with the other musicians.
I was there too,one hell of a concert.
Nuno has to be one of THE most underrated guitarists in the world. He's got incredible rhythm skills on top of his solo ability. Throw in his improv chops and you have a complete guitarist.
All of the ghost notes and percussive intricacies are mind blowing. People always focus on guys like Nuno's lead playing but it's his sense of timing and rythym that make him and those like him who they are. As the saying goes "it don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing".
There are not any ghost notes or percussive tricks. The massive amounts of delay is fooling your ear. There is much less going on than it sounds like. Check out how it sounds with no delay: ua-cam.com/video/6FfM7ox06no/v-deo.html.
@@johnnichols8553 It's dotted 8ths....
Guitars don't have ghost notes lol
Those ghost notes at 2:20 are why I love that specific riff so goddamn much.
Delay pedal bro
I knew Nuno was a good guitarist but Damn! My speakers exploded playing this incredible video. Nuno is Awesome.
He has been an absolute beast his entire career, I remember back in the 90's when he would melt your face off.
Says the guy with a partially melted face missing...
Every time i see him play, I get reminded how crazy good he is. Wow.
It's like I'm listening to the studio recording. If I didn't witness his had movements I'd call it a backing track. There's pros, legends, then people like this. Absolutely perfect.
He so underrated , he is a monster
One of the most underrated guitarists in Rock and Roll. Can shred and groove with equal ease.
Three sides to every story was (when I was 11) & still is (I'm 39) the most relevant album in my life. So underated. They broke up when I was a kid but I had the pleasure of seeing them in Birmingham awhile back & let me tell you, I was so grateful for it
I love listening to Nuno Bettencourt's solos, I get tired of work and how it helps me to disconnect from problems..❤❤
Holy Mother of God that might be the single most amazing piece of guitar work I've ever seen. This guy, like Eddie....also has that swing
How the hell does this dude not age?
Mountains of pussy
Portuguese blood
Maybe some tree
Most certainly has something to do with de "time mushroom" XD ua-cam.com/video/FF4Zfui_e3s/v-deo.html
Well he is obviously a vampire ....
Nuno, Vito Bratta and Adrian Vandenberg were three very underrated players back in the day.
Nuno is still a guy who can play it all effortlessly. Great to see him showing this new generation what "virtuoso" really means.
add warren demartini to that list sir/ma'am.
The real deal. Fan for a looonngg time. Love seeing comments of people that weren’t aware of how good this dude is. Absolute monster. That is still an understatement
I love how he is kinda cocky but super humble. That and he's amazing. Love you Nuno!
Nuno has always been one of my favorite guitarist. His sound and energy are all his own.
I have always loved me some Nuno. The first couple of Extreme albums are really good.
Yngwie, Govan, Bettencourt, Gilbert, Romeo, Tolki. All of them have amazing control over the guitar, is just unvelibable.
Nuno is one of my favourite one! that technical skills are well known ,but always his guitar position amazes me..
Amazing as always! Nuno is one of the most versatile shredders of all time.
WORDS cannot describe the talent he has in those magic fingers 🎸🤗🎶🎵🎼
Completely identifiable by ear with all the greats. Class act 💙
UNBELIEVABLE MUSICIAN AND SHOWMAN!!!! ALWAYS RIGHT ON SPOT! 👏👏👏👏
First heard Extreme on Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure. Found out who Nuno was and bought the album. So good!
100% pure talent. Amazing player😱
This guy is so good and so underated... A lot of people don't even know how good he is...
Underrated by who?
Definitely one of the best guitarists ever out there! So melodic and in a class of his own!!!
Nino, Paul Gilbert, and V. Bratta are some of my all-time fav guitar players!!.... never get tired of listening 2 their music!!!
I met Nuno in the early 90’s, I have to say he was such a nice genuine guy all around. Talked with us for around 20 minutes, still have his autograph to this day. Never forget that moment 🤘🏼
Nuno really deserves the use of that over-used word - awesome. Truly an amazing talent. And who knew you could put on a show in the Marshall Electronics warehouse? Cool!
Honestly I had forgotten just how good he is, shame on me. I'll be watching this at least 20 more times.
His solos are great... a pity about Extreme's lyrics and some other stuff.
What other stuft is there? (Serious question)
Nuno has always been a favorite. You always heard about Vai and Satriani and Gilbert but this guy was always playing at their level and not getting talked about at all. Probably the main, if only, reason I listened to Extreme not to knock them in any kind of way.
That's why he was with this tour. So amazing man
3 sides to every story was one of my favourite growing up. Nuno is inspiring!
The truth!!
I’ve seen this live it was amazing . Underrated guitarist
I saw them perform in Dallas. Generation Axe was hands down one of the most important guitar tours that ever was. It was unreal,.
Went to see Generation Axe in Boston last week. I was blown away with his guitar playing and stage persona. Definitely Top 10 . He does it all. If you get the chance don't miss this 4 hour show.
Saw him playing live yesterday incredible performance...best guitarist ever
Stopped by to pick through randomly. Stayed for the whole thing.
Omg I'm so glad I found this. This guy is good af!
Thank you so much for uploading this!
Didn't know much about how to appreciate guitar sounds n skills back in the day when i was still a small kid, but just something about Nuno that always enchanted me and I guess I know now that's why!
It’s easy to see that he loves what he’s doing and his passion penetrates his audience. The best of the best share that singular quality. It’s all music to him. There are guys that shred and the blistering speed is all they’ve got. This guy has it, but only pops when the music demands it - never just for the sake of shredding, alone. As it should be.
his picking is so fast yet so clean
When behind you there’s Zakk Wylde taking pictures/videos of you ,hiding behind an amplifier, you can tell u are a incredible guitarist
Probably wondering where the pinch harmonics are.
Thank you 4 uploading this. This made my night! Definitely sharing it!
What a show!!!!
love watching this vid, he's so enjoying himself
Nuno always delivered with perfection...salute...
You can imagine how he learned playin the guitar ,it is not done overnight . Years and years of expirience .amazing guitarist ..
Nuno rules, total command of the instrument! And, look at that wall of Marshalls! Sweet.
One of my favorite guitarists.
My childhood shredding hero. Still amazed with his skills.
People say hes underrated? I dont get it? Hes been rated for decades, as one of the all-time best. Hands down.
I hate that so many of my friends have no clue who this dude is when I tell them how excellent he is. :(
Saw him live with Extreme.
Incredible
Great video and channel! Nuno blew us all away when he hit the scene in the late 80s
35 years of this guy pure class
Vivo Nuno Bettencourt! A Lenda! Vivo os Açores!
Nuno is such an amazing guitarist but very underrated. His name & talent should be a lot bigger than what it is. I have always been a big fan of his
Mostly because a lot of the songs he played in were cheesy and awful... but with great solos and styling. Extreme were good musicians but bad song writers.
Nuno"s a shreddin, percusive guitar genius!🤘
I always loved the Rest in peace solo and to watch him play that here was awesome.
Some serious mojo... He's soooo funky, his rhythm is a-ma-zing
GREAT!!!!!
Impossible not to love it!
Beyond everything I just like how humble he is.
Abrar Jahin Nafi maybe he is, but there was a show called Bands Reunited (they play one last show) and I watched every episode and he was the only person to never even let the camera film him. All of the other members were yea, it would be fun, but he wouldn t even talk to the host. So something is weird there
I wish I was humble enough to dance around on stage, showing off playing guitar for applause.
Sadly I’m just not that humble.
I like how bumble bee is..!!
@@chadhero37 Take this for what it is. I used to work at Washburn during the Nuno days. While I did not ever meet him personally the word around the factory was that he was an arrogant jerk. I can neither confirm or deny those statements but it was stated by several who did know him. But who knows. Maybe they were simply jealous?
been a fan since day one. awesome player & nice guy too. keep it up Nuno!
Absolutely Fantastic!!!
Nuno is a musician more than just a guitar player. Anyone can learn to play the guitar but not every one can be a musician..
I love telling people who do not understand the complexity of composition this.
His music writing skills are just as impressive. He really is a modern Beethoven.
My yearly visit to this, still absolutely amazing. What a musician!
i always like him since the begining i knew it he was good n down to earth kind of guy
keep on playing nuno u r great
He is a bloody amazing guitarist.
i love this medley
it's cool
Saw generation axe in Tempe,,at the marquee theatre,,,Bettencourt stole the show!!!it wasa killer jam session with those guy's,,,😎🤘🎸🍺
I listen again and again... I watch again end again... You touched the sky, man... And I with you.... Someone who can't wait for your concert... With a glass of wine and a view of the sky... I hope my wish will come true💕💕💕💕🎶🎶🎶🎶
OMG I started playing around 20yrs ago, how is this my first time hearing this? HE IS UNBELIEVABLY FUCKIN' AWESOME 😲
