    You, sir, are solid gold. Thank you very much for ALL the videos you've made. I've just found your videos and have already learned a LOT! I enjoy repairing and modifying chainsaws here in the U.S. and have a lot to learn, but your joyful demeanor and the clarity with which you think and communicate make it very easy to learn from you. Again, thank you for sharing your skills, tips, knowledge, and efforts with us.

    Great information. You can find small tube of silicone grease where they sell plumbing products. Thanks and take care.

    Might I recommend replacing the split pin with a solid one . (Split pin is abrasive )

    • @VintageEngineRepairs
      @VintageEngineRepairs  Рік тому

      Absolutely, any metal pin that will fit will be just fine. The reason I open the pin up is to stop it rotating round and scratching.

    I was thinking fella. Would using a plastic saring give you a cheaper and easier unit without ever dialing with this scenario ???

    Is WD ok for a cleaner?

    • @VintageEngineRepairs
      @VintageEngineRepairs  Рік тому +1

      If you’re just cleaning the metal parts, absolutely! It’s a fantastic cleaner. It would likely be fine on the seals too, even though it’s petroleum based, but I choose caution as I’ve seen what they do to o-rings and other natural parts. Hopefully someone will chime in and say if the black seals are nitrile or not.

    Small note for others - my rebuild kit came with a small, brass schrader valve tool. Helpful if you don't already have one

    Hi mine selector switch is stuck in vacuum I can’t twist it do you know how I can fix that please?

    • @VintageEngineRepairs
      @VintageEngineRepairs  8 місяців тому

      Hey, don’t force it or it will snap, take pictures of both sides so you know how it goes back together, then remove the screw, selector lever and push out the plastic piece. Give it some oil with silicone oil and re-assemble.

    Why would my MV 8500 hold vacuum but not pressure?

    • @VintageEngineRepairs
      @VintageEngineRepairs  2 місяці тому

      Hmmm I can’t say off the top of my head. I’d send it back if it’s new. If it’s past warranty, take it apart - probably a worn seal :)

      @@VintageEngineRepairs It's like new because I have only used it once before yesterday, but the warranty is gone since I have had it for over a year. I did take it apart and everything looks new. I re-lubed all of the O-rings and still no pressure. I guess I will have to call them on Monday and see what they say.

      @@VintageEngineRepairs Tom, you got a great channel. I have learned very much, especially about 2 strokes, 2 stroke carbs and troubleshooting those pesky 2 strokes. And the tools and techniques that go with all that. I have a very old LawnBoy I got as a toss in at auction. I have been ignoring it for 3 years. But I am going to try to apply my new knowledge to see if I can make it live again. Even attempting it would never have a consideration, except for your encouragement and teaching. Thank you.

    Just bought a new one, did a test and it leaks down slowly, brand new. Kinda bummed 🫤. Thanks for the video, seems I have to take it apart already.
