    I am a Bostonian and I can tell you there is nothing like the deep fried haddock we had there. We came to CA in 1968 and couldn't believe there wasn't any here. So, I am going to try your cod recipe. Wish me luck!

    Is the air fryer preheated?

  • @walterstrahota2956
    @walterstrahota2956 2 роки тому +3

    That would be good with melted butter. I cook this also. Sometimes I use old bay seasoning sometimes Cajun seasoning.

    Great video, simple instructions for this wanna be cook! Didn’t cook thoroughly though. Should I have preheated first?

    • @MelanieCooksRecipes
      @MelanieCooksRecipes  8 місяців тому +1

      No preheating needed. If it didn’t cook through, just put it back in the air fryer and cook for another 5 minutes

    Thanks again, Melanie, for a quick simple, good way to fix thing something in the air fryer… I cooked two cod fillets two night ago (after thawing them) then I breaded them to cook in a skillet…the first night one was good but the next night 😵‍💫 breaded fish loses its umph!!!so next time I’ll do your way…

      You are welcome! You can also reheat breaded fish in the air fryer, 5 min at 400F, it will be crispy :)

    Also you seem to like airfryers and instapot... you should do a review video for the Ninja Foodi Pro, it is a slow cooker (instapot) it can pressure cook, airfry, and more. I love mine.

    Did the package contain raw or precooked cod?

    I think i would finish it in a sauté skillet with some butter and garlic basting to improve the color. 😊

      This sounds good! My air fryer has a saute function and I'm very new to cooking. Could you explain how I would do that?

    Did you add any more time? or just 10 minutes total.

    • @MelanieCooksRecipes
      @MelanieCooksRecipes  Рік тому +1

      10 min total. If fish is not cooked through, then add more time as needed

      10 minutes total cooking time, I took it out and seasoned after 5 min then put it back to finish cooking. Then check to see if it’s cooked through, if not then add back to the air fryer for a few more minutes

    I guess some people just do not wash their food. I always wash my food and pat dry. But thanks for this.

      Cooking the food kills all bacteria :)

    • @goofyahhytboy
      @goofyahhytboy 10 місяців тому

      That's crazy bc if it's frozen all the bacteria is dead.. when it cooks all the bacteria is killed..
      I can see why u do this with thawed meat but it isn't necessary and doesn't promote food safety ...
      USDA research found that washing or rinsing meat or poultry increases the risk for cross-contamination in the kitchen, which can cause foodborne illness.

      There’s no reason to wash food that’s being cooked
