Thanks Bhupendra for your comment. Please encourage others in your groups to subscribe the channel. We should take it to every student of Transportation Engineering. It can only be done through your help.
Thanks Tanmay, You will certainly learn something new in every video. Please subscribe to the channel and send the link to your friends also. My next video is coming tomorrow (August 02) at 6.00 PM on Marshall Method of Mix Design.
Great to learn the Basic concepts of transportation engg from the legend researcher and Faculty whose research inspired me in my UG Highway engineering classes. Looking forward to more lecture videos. As a young researcher waiting to visit CRRI and learn more from you in person.
Dear Sir, many thanks indeed for the video, this is excellence explanation. At the mean please advice, what is the desired grading for gravel surfacing, for base and sub base material.
Dear Sir, Thank you for the video. As of now I have practiced for Trial and error method only. Hereafter I will change my approach with gradation of aggregate. which is most important part of the Mix designs as well as Job Mix formula
Respected sir, this was very informative. When I went to field, the field engineer was talking about one more grading called field mix formila. Can you explain more on "field mix formula" and how it is different from other gradation?
I have not head this terminology of Field Mix Formula and there is no such formula. MoRTH book provides some tolerance limits of gradation on each sieve size for Quality Control. But construction should be done with Job Mix Formula obtained in the laboratory only.
@@SatishIITR Sorry sir I meant job mix formula only. Thanks for the corrections. However job mix formula is based on laboratory mix results only right sir ?
Dear Sir, I am struggle to understand grading, suppose if we have only one material at the site available, how do we deal with the situation. And the range and Mid Point value are given values as design values?
Methods explained in this video are for proportioning of materials for Marshall mix also. Here also the materials available at site are of 20 mm, 10 mm , 6 mm and stone dust. You can porportion them by any of the three methods given in the video to get the final grading
Respected sir, thank you very very much. this was very Useful for me. Sir I have a doubt, how to draw grading of main line A,B,C. please resolve my problem if possible. thank you.
A very good sir, Sir, I have four samples(A, B, C, and D) and I have also performed the gradation by following the morth table 500-17. Sir, I was following the trial and error method at 2.36 sieve samples C and D lies in the same range. I am confused about how to select the proportion with the same method.
If C and D lies in the same range, it may mean that only one of them is needed in the final mix. Try Analytical method. It is simpler and more accurate.
Sir,sorry to interupt you again. In analytical method by using solver function It doen't show me the results after clicking the keep solver solutions.pls clarify my doubt sir It will be very helpful for me.
Dear sir, Thank you for your videos. I would like to ask you that how can we select critical sieves like 12.5, 2.36 and 0.075 etc for any mix design. Can you tell me for wearing course etc .
critical sieves are generally 2.36 mm and 0.075 mm for both wearing course as well as binder course. These are the sizes which make a mix either tender or stiff
Sir, Please make video on "Polish Stoned Value" and its various application in safety point of view i mean, how we can modified surface properties near approaches near Junction

Another lecture where concepts are explained in the simplest yet elegant way. looking forward to future lectures.

@@SatishIITR Sure Sir. I am constantly forwarding the video links to the student groups that I know. I will further keep on doing that.
Sir , fantastic explanation. Such a critical step of Mix design - you have explained in such a simple way. 🙏
Thanks.
Your this video made my sunday wonderful. Never seen analytical or rothfuch method ever before

It's my pleasure, Dr. Sinha. Please encourage your students to subscribe the channel.
You are love sir ❤
I am working on CGBM layer , and i desparately needed the proportioning to be done
Great 👍. Very happy to note that it helped you. Keep watching. I have a video on CGBM also on this channel.
Beautifully explained sir.
Must be really useful for many budding mix designers
Thanks. Please circulate the link in your group(s) for better dissemination.
It's Great lecture, useful for practicing Engineers
Thanks Padma, Please circulate in groups of your friends for further dissemination. Next video today at 6.00 PM
@@SatishIITR Sure, I will be happy to share your contribution.
Dear Sir, many thanks indeed for the video, this is excellence explanation. At the mean please advice, what is the desired grading for gravel surfacing, for base and sub base material.
desired grading for any layer is to be obtained from specifications. We follow MoRTH 2013 or MoRD 2014. All gradings are given in these books.
Explained in lucid way.Thanks sir
Thanks, Keep watching

You cannot achieve desired grading with one type of aggregate
Good session sir. Thank you !

SIr how to decide the proportions of materials to be mixed for marshall mix ?
Methods explained in this video are for proportioning of materials for Marshall mix also. Here also the materials available at site are of 20 mm, 10 mm , 6 mm and stone dust. You can porportion them by any of the three methods given in the video to get the final grading
Respected sir, thank you very very much. this was very Useful for me. Sir I have a doubt, how to draw grading of main line A,B,C. please resolve my problem if possible. thank you.
A, B, C are plotted in normal way on x-y axis. The balance lines are drawn in such a manner that the area on two sides is almost same.

OK
Sir, how do we define the Range. Will it be as per MORTH or it can change according to the aggregate size
Range of gradation will depend upon the layer thickness and the type of mix. It is to be as per MORTH specifications.
Thank you Sir
Most welcome. Keep watching and share the link in your groups.

sir in analytical method, my percentage of aggregate remains same, it is not working in excel...even though i followed same method as you described.
You must be missing something somewhere. Send your gradation table and target values to me through email. I will check.
