Great job man, I didn't think you rambled at all, in fact I enjoyed hearing your thought process. I'm respeccing for more survival, and mana burn is easily negated, so I'm not sure what the other guy was talking about. Keep it up, good job m8.
thanks for the kind words man, i just got over a really bad chest cold so i was certainly not in my best form, but thanks for tolerating my sniffles and hacking lol
I've tried something like this before with Energy Shield and Telekinesis, but seems like this works a lot better. My level 89 Sorceress is now a tank. :) I've been trying different builds. This seems to be the best, but I did the rest of my Skill points differently. I have 5 Fire Skillers on my character that I was using on my previous build, so I wanted to include fire skills on this build. I put 1 point into warmth. 1 into fire bolt, 20 into Fire Ball, and my last 5 points into Fire Mastery. Cold skills i put 1 point into Ice Bolt, Frost Nova, and Glacial Spike. I put 20 points each into Ice Blast and Blizzard. I put my remaining points into Energy Shield and Telekinesis like he does in the video. You really need 2 different Elemental powers in the game, What Ice doesn't kill Fire will. Works GREAT!!!
i didnt actually expect this video to do as well as it did, if you guys think i should make more d2r content, like this comment! or let me know in the comments below! i do a ton of magic finding and chaos runs, i especially love players 8 chaos runs, so if thats something you would like to see, let me know and i can compile some collections/highlights for youtube! this channel was originally inteded to be a more automotive focused youtube channel, hence the name and the history of my videos, but maybe i can do both?
Nice video. And as a hardcore player builds like this have my interest. The only suggestion I would make is maybe still put a point into warmth, maybe for your next level up or maybe after you finish maxing Ice Bolt. There aren't many other options left for you to put points in.
@@Frankenslide Doesn't warmth have a soft-synergy with energy shield though? I think this guy might be right, may seem negligible, but at level 93 is 17 points in warmth going to be any less negligible than where you'd put that single point otherwise?
@@zachb8012 of course more mana regen isn’t a bad thing but that one extra point into a blizzard synergy could 400-600 more blizzard dmg or even one more point in telekinesis means less dmg to your mana pool anyways
Big fan of blizz sorc, and also big fan of the 16 telek/energy shield. Didn't think to try it using 1 point in CM, but it makes a lot of sense considering only act bosses really need that extra -res. Thinking this would be a nice variant for a HC blizz sorc. I think 1 point warmth could be an interesting addition, although I like to go 1/3 hp 2/3 mana totals, or even 1:1 - considering your mana doesn't move down at all, but your hp does, maybe you would get that little extra bit of survivability. One one hand, if you get mana burned, more hp means more survivability, but also reducing total mana reduces mana regen... Easier to tweak the stats on a single player file to test.
If a Bliz/ES build is the build you most like playing then you showcased it well with this video. I personally don't like ES outside of a Nova build, so my build would be different but there are plenty of ways to play this game. I was going to recommend the prayer merc for the chip damage but you covered it in the video, holy freeze is a pretty compelling option given it further increases the mercs survival, which means less trips to town to rez him. last thing I can suggest is that if you plan on making more videos I would recommend you do a little bit more editing. You started to ramble clearing through CS and when you shifted into auto pilot you started with clearing your throat and snorting which hurt the quality of your presentation. I'm pretty sure that most people who find this video know what a CS clear or repairing in town look like so cutting it down to a quick boss pack or 2 in each area, and then Diablo/Baal for context gets your message across. It also would mean less audio to record so you could present more clear and concise talking points. Like I said prior the build showcase was good, so keep at it and you should start getting more visibility (I ended up here) if that is what you are looking to do. Good luck.
i totally agree with the rambling, this video was not actually intended to hit youtube, it was for the d2r facebook group, i just happened to post it here to test the waters, but it seems to be actually doing pretty well. i think i may start making d2r content. this video is 100% improvised and unedited. which was as intended when i made it, but going forward, if i do decide to make content for this game, i will make it much more professional
also i just got over a terrible chest cold, so i apologize for the snorting and hacking i was doing, couldnt be helped unfortunately, but yes some editing would have solved it haha
@@Frankenslide I apologize if I came off as aggressive or made you feel defensive. My attempt was to be critical of your presentation in order to help you evaluate it and improve on it. I think you have potential and with a couple tweaks to your process could improve the quality of your video. I feel you on being sick as well. my whole house is ill atm, which isn't great during all of these supply chain issues; suffice to say that TP is at a premium. If you enjoyed making this video, keep at it. people are hungry for content in D2R right now so you are in a good position to get some visibility.
I don't know if it's the same in D2R but in D2LoD eshield would absorb 95% at rank 40. Use a memory staff with +3 eshield, a +3 light ammy, etc then just a few points of flat damage mitigation and you really can be invincible
Pretty solid build, similar to an orb wall es build i ran for HC. I would add you definitely want the point in warmth. Thats mana AND health. Its worth it I assure you, especially in conjunction with a prayer merc that takes care of any chip dmg to your hp that comes through - aaaaand right as I finished typing you said it 😄
I run a fire version with sub cold for hardcore. With the same ridic durability. Fire/orb spec. All vit.... Because... hc, and the wrong manaburn mob breaking your ES... no Bueno LOL Glad to see someone else out there is doing a similar setup tho. Mine runs on skill optimization and exploits. It can kill literally everything. I don't even buy energy shield. ^.^ Skill basic: 1 pt tele usually about 10 to 15 base points in Tk, just depends on how strong you want your supplemental cold skill, and how much TK you actually need for the build, it varies as the character progresses. Max center fire tree, 1 point warmth, Buy orb, no cold mastery tals set :) the -fire res perk that tals gives is profound. Gear: full tals with attention to 2 fire mast 2 cold mast orb, 35 spirit, magefist, 1 soj, open ring/boot(i think that's 105 cast? If not any caster ring.) On switch memory runeword with a base that has at least +1 chilling armor +1 enchant. Chilling is preferred because it works on any melee attack, not only if you get struck. This base can be shopped, but you can't shop one with + to Es as well unfortunately. Memory gives +6 es, I guess +3 enchant chilling and ES base would be end goal, good luck there. Merc: normal diff prayer merc, with insight(L17 meditation)tals helm really Since this is a VITA build for durability in HC mana/hp grand charms can come with 59mana 45 life. A couple mana charms is all one needs with the combo of 1 base warmth plus the merc The switch let's you save 7 skill points if you would have to buy to 1 pt ES, enchant, and chilling armor. Those saved points are most of your boost to TK. It offers cold damage that's enough to kill with in p4 hell games solo, for immune fire/physical. And can be fairly fast depending on one's skill with orb. I can do p8 everything with this telestomping all day , it just isn't fast in some areas, mainly chaos sanct and last 2 waves of baal mobs other than that everything is pretty much a joke. Sub skill spec cold works better than the flip side because immune fire mobs can still get chilled so the merc can do his thing, even if your damage is weak, or your gear is total ass. I like to put 5/5 fires in everything. Usually never need meteor its just so hard hitting 1 or 2 F balls nukes mobs, and with that wave 4 in throne is a joke so only lister is annoying. Typical end game build nets about 1500 hp with 900 mana without BO IIRC. Now, for boots Alderson is great, and I don't have any proof of this but damage taken goes to mana gear seems to help keep ES from breaking. So the belt and boots gives a total of 47% so as low as 3 damage that passes thru after burning your mana from 1 mob scoring a hit in NM and hell will leave you with 1 mana keeping the break from happening. That seems to be why I guess.
Also I use full tals with ptopaz in helm/armor, ist in wpn, aldurs, so max resistance, should be even more tanks especially with prayer mercenary (which I've never used)
prayer merc is criminally underrated. its even more effective when you have a smaller health pool like this build, because prayer recovers life per second, not a % of LPS
glad you enjoyed it and im glad its working great for you! avg hell monster cold res is 40. If you have only -100, it'll bring it to -60. So having it at 140% is optimal. Also, orb/fireball destroys this in killspeed. I'm not trying to toot the horn or anything, I'm just stating facts. Any content, on hardcore, with 300% mf, is easily done with this combo. Prayer merc is definitely criminally underrated lol. I use it and I love it. However, mana burn destroys anything ES related, so I heavily invest into LIfe. Enough str to equip monarch, most use stormshield, but I get more value with Spirit and 50% block. Meaning dex takes a bit. With insight, items, mana is never an issue. And when I pop into a pack with mana burn, I don't get melted. Max res, 50% block, some absorb, and res with charms makes it incredibly fast clears along with dual elements. I suggest trying it out if you haven't! It does test your positioning skills however. It's not hard to master, but it does take time to understand all the mob "do's and don'ts". Pits is prob my favorite spot to farm and then it's prob tunnels/worldstone keeps1,2,3. Playin hardcore is the way to go, sadly I could never go back to sc because of it haha. I tried, but the items just don't carry weight like HC. By lvl 90 it really shines though, and honestly the only thing faster is a zerker with enigma. This build could be week 1 ready and gettin all the good stuff way ahead of others. Take care man! Keeep the content comin! This is where I learn everything and theory craft. you can get into all the numbers and specifics if you want but theres plenty of real world killing in this video and as you can see, monsters just drop in seconds. go ahead and waste all those points into cold mastery if you want, fam. but i'm good. the reason i enjoy this build, is because its like cruise control. you dont need to worry about positioning as much. ive tried every dual element build out there and never had any real fun with them as the damage always seemed to be lacking... one dual spec build i did like however was orb/nova, but its really only viable on P1. which i suppose is fine for solo farming, if thats your thing. thanks for your comment tho, brother and keep slayin!
You are already very tanky with CTA, the extra survivability from energy shield is not necessary if you are not on HC. The extra points are better spent on blizzard synergy to increase kill speed or on another element imo.
insight brings it right back, just gotta keep an eye on the orb over your head. if you get hit twice in quick succession, the second hit will take your shield down. again, you have to be not paying attention to miss it.
He does get mana burned during the video, but he doesn't die from it. Mana burn is something you should be wary of if you rely on ES and to some extent it is its kryptonite/achilles heel, but if you pay attention and react well you can mitigate the vulnerability if/when you do get mana burned.
