Once my boyfriend and I were apartment sitting for a friend and her psychotic dog who escaped after breaking his leash and collar. It was 2:00 am with no regular stores open so we found a porn shop and bought a a collar (it had bling on it but was sturdy) and a leash and recaptured the dog. It's one of my funniest memories

Im a 6 figure professional and lived with my mom 5 years longer than I wanted because it made her rent easier until her retirement. Lots of reasons people still live with a parent... The Indian culture for example, kids are at home intil marriage, and then when the parents get old and can't fully take care of themselves they move in with the kids. I've already told my mother I'd build her an apartment on my property if she wants.

Rural Central Calif here: My dad accumulated a ton of rentals that I helped him maintain as I grew up. I had a window into 100's of hispanic families' lives, many multigenerational. There were tensions, but no matter how poor, they watched over each other and there was always food on the table. I befriended a wonan with Parkinson's and care for her. If not for me, I am sure her daughter would have dumped her off in the San Francisco Tenderloin district and have social services pick her up...while she lives rent free in her mom's fully paid house in Silicon Valley.
Edit: One particular family lived rent free on a ranch. The 50's son was a foreman on the ranch. His mother, grandmother to his children cooked, washed for the family, grandkids. It gave her purpose. I was invited to eat multiple times with the family. There was always something on the stove and offers of something to eat and fresh tortillas as soon as you'd walk in the door. The grandkids were blessed with advice and old stories. She, healthy to the last day died in her sleep in the house surrounded by her family.

When I was 22 some traumatic events took place and my wiring became something like "don't ask anything from anyone, provide for yourself and leave as soon as you can". No children, fortunately. Wish I could get a job like this and be in peace with myself. I have a lot of self-loathing for not having dealt with things the way I should've... I let myself be beat. This is my favourite interview for ages!! Kristopher is so authentic (& by the way I hate that expression because by default, we should all be authentic, because we are simply ourselves) and I hugely enjoyed listening to some stories rooted in total reality, and not being told to paint a particular picture!

Kristopher, Happy Birthday! Thank you so much for sharing your story. You had me laughing & reminded me of my first time going into an adult store. I was in college at the time & there was a rumor going around that one of my instructors had been caught shoplifting at our local "Adult Superstore," & had his photo posted as a warning. Of course we didnt believe it. Fast forward a couple of months, one of the girls in our group was getting married. We were looking for party favors, etc. Not only was the rumor a fact, but his picture was visible as we were walking in the door. There was this area on the wall near the register where they had pics of all the people that had been caught shoplifting. What was even funnier was that the pics were taken with a polaroid cameras & the lighting wasnt good, so it looked extra grimy. LOL. As for the types of people that go in there, thats such a weird question. We have (or had) 2 adult stores where I live, but I can assure anyone that they do not get the same customers, at all. Asking what types of people go in there is like asking a group of adults, which beer they prefer. For no reason, just to know. Some people are more creative, spontaneous & fun, while others are more uptight, fixed & serious. Some of the customers are people who actually have more serious reasons that they are there. We forget that it could be for medical reasons, dr/therapist recommendation, or because the person lost their partner. ❤ I was first diagnosed with depression when I was 13. Im sorry you know this pain. You have a pretty uplifting, yet laid back vibe & youre a wonderful conversationalist. Keep your head up!! I hope to see you again in an update 🙃

You would be paying him a compliment more if you said you feel that he'd be the kind to pound you in the ass for hours on end and then drop you off in the ghetto instead of driving you home.

Can we normalize intergenerational living in the US? There is nothing wrong with choosing to (or having to, for economic reasons, care of elders, etc) to live with your family as an adult. We need to take care of each other more in this country and these silly stigmas only serve to isolate us.

Had an uncle that lived with his mother to help her with transportation, housekeeping, etc in the 50's and 60's before it was common like now.
