I have the pleasure and the honor to interview this wonderful man on 2015, and I can't stop thinking, even now, what unbelievable thing it would be if he would be Elvis manager!

Elvis singing "hound dog" on the Milton Berle show in 1956 was actually bigger than both the Beatles' debut and this great 68 special !

Totally agree Alan...so fed up with the "everything began with The Beatles" thing...I was there!...it didn't!...Coming up on being 74...saw them twice in 1963&4 in Glasgow, Scotland...like all my pals I was a huge fan..(Roy Orbison was on the bill as well and he was amazing!...I think he did 4 or 5 encores before the MC had to come on and plead with us to stop asking Roy for more...John Lennon said he thought we didn't want them...of course we did...but the Big O was truly brilliant!)...but we didn't see them as revolutionary...to us they were revivalists...they played RocknRoll...in 1963 we were still RnR fans and they were a terrific RnR band...one of the best if not, at that time, the best...we hadn't stopped loving RnR just because the scene had become somewhat softer with the advent of what Jerry Lee called "the Bobbys"...The Beatles were a breath of fresh air and as I said, we loved them...but bigger than Elvis?!? No fekn way!...The Big Bang in popular music occurred in the mid-fifties NOT 1963...and Elvis was at the head, breaking so many rules and creating an original template which so many, including The Beatles, could follow when they decided to pick up a guitar....To us John, Paul, George and Ringo were a continuation of what had been going on in Britain since 1956...brilliant, but a continuation. Sorry about banging on but this myth of them being "the beginning" has pissed me off for years...Happy New Year from Scotland.

Totally agree. Elvis performance of Hound Dog in the Milton Berle show was out of this world. I find it more revolutionary and entertaining than what the Beatles did in the Ed Sullivan show.

It takes four to make the Beatles.Without Elvis the Beatle would not have existed.Elvis is so much better performer than the Beatles. His voice is unique. Not one of them can stand out as unique.Elvis moves like no other. They just stand there.Elvis beauty.. you cant take your eyes off him.The Beates are average to below average looking peopleNo Beatle could do as a single performer or as a group that Elvis could do.

The 68 Come Back Special Book is beautiful. Every fan should have one. All the people that worked on this show did it with a labor of love, they cared so much about Elvis. You can watch about it on You Tube. Behind The Gates Of Graceland, Steve Binder behind the 68 Come Back Special.

It was originally suppose to be a Christmas special where Elvis stood on stage for an hour or two and sang nothing but Christmas songs. Steve and elvis wanted the same thing: Elvis singing some of his earlier hits and some contemporary stuff as well and an unplugged session with his original musicians.

Steve Binder put the wind back into Elvis' sails. It was magic and Elvis went on to record some of his most relevant work and a new string of current hits ensuing after this. 5 years later Elvis did his "Aloha from Hawaii" TV show broadcast around the World. Another first in Entertainment. If you don't know, Steve Binder was also the producer of the T.A.M.I. show in the mid 1960's where the Rolling Stones were the closing act after James Brown and his Famous Flames performed. Check it out.

The 68 come back special was great in spite of Binder. Not because of him. Binder had no idea what he had with the sit down sessions or the stand up portions of the show. All the rest of the show should have been trashed once Binder saw the first sit down jam session. Binder should have gotten a stand up bass player and give Fontanna a small drum set, an electric guitar for Scotty and told the rest of the guys to get off the stage. THAT would have really been something to see.
