    Your info is great but bashing Ryan Bowen the whole time isnt helping arm wrestling in general amd basically insulting another man just because of the way he likes to train. Why dont you guys challange Ryan to a match or something that will clear things up😅

      @@jolouisd But Ryan Bowen isn't preaching his way he documents his life only. Nobody is doing the Ryan Bowen lift are they ?😅 On the other hand Devon Larrat is preaching his lifts and style and people are copying him but little do they know that's not good either because that's his way and works for him.

      I mean Ryan has no standards in that area of now talking people down or Doxing. So what is the point, also people follow Ryan and he has injured himself in ways he was told not to do just for then after going to the doctor. So Ryan should be bashed as he is responsible for others following in his foodsteps.

      National level puller lol. But you're right, if he hired a proper armwrestling strength coach and pharmacist for his drugs, he would be up there with the elites.

    How often should you be doing these 1 lift maxes? Im currently 7.5 months in training with the London club here in Ontario and have been thinking of starting some weight training. Problem is when i go to practice on Sunday im sore at least until Thursday, lol. Being a 45 year old man, i probably don't heal super fast anymore.
    I would assume not to do these lifts when sore and stick with rubber bands and blood flow until im not sore on Thursday/Friday? Will this training make me sore or should i feel ok for the next Sunday practice, since the reps are so low?
    I don't know how these guys do two practices a week, every week. Last time i hit 3 practices in a row(Sunday, Wednesday, Sunday) i was so weak and sore😅. Cant believe Rick at 66 and George at 74 do this year round....

      I’d stick with the blood flow until that practice recovery only takes a couple days

      Thanks for the response. Hopefully it won't too long for decent recovery time. After all, I've heard that armwrestling only hurts the first 10 years 😂

    I appreciate the centra points made here, but a corollary could be - there is a wide variance among arm wrestlers as to how they move on the table. The more we develop a style, the more specific we can be with our lifts to support that style (if we wish).
    Ex: Devon’s pronation lift is primarily a kings move lift. Subtle variations make it translate differently.
    Ex: A levan lift you called “good” had a very vertical forearm. The increased shoulder flexion engagement can be utilized on the table.
    I would reframe it as: can you (and do you actually want to) use your lift on the table? The more vertical forearm applies to the “punch up” aspect of the toproll, but wouldn’t apply as much when moving the elbow and hand back. It would help when moving the hand up and the elbow slightly forward.
    I agree Ryan could use more effective training programs, but I believe he did achieve his goal with his lift, so I have a hard time criticizing him in that specific instance.

      Devon’s lift isn’t really a kingsmove lift. It’s a backpressure with static pronation lift. Kings is drag and pronation through the arm. In a kingsmove your upper arm to forearm angle is not 90 degrees. in the lift it generally is.

      @@Dmgolfer22 if he changed his humerus angle relative to the rest of his body, it would be more of a back pressure lift. Kings works best when connects with back pressure, more or less depending upon the rule set used. I can kings move without “back pressure” (elbow flexion) but it’s pretty useless unless I can connect something to it as a transition. Also not very useful in a losing position, since I would have to dip my humerus below parallel.
      I think part of the kings move vs back pressure question w/r/t the larratt pronation lift is how you stabilize/assist with the shoulder. One difference I have noticed in practicing it: if you are driving the shoulder along the path of the forearm, it will be more back pressure, if you lift the whole apparatus up and slightly away from your core, the pronation seems to transfer through the shoulder differently and more akin to a kings move than an open toproll. It skips the elbow flexors more in the second way.

      @@Dmgolfer22 it is more of a kings move lift, he arm is not at 90, its closer to 110, while armwrestling angles are around 70-80 degrees, even 90 is not the most translatable angle. Devon kicks his wrist back, which is the way he pronates on the table. This lift he does is more of a defensive stop. I believe you should the the lift the way you armwrestle, so maybe keep your wrist straight or slighlty kicked back and definitely try to keep angles closer to 90.

      @@AdamLighter1 Yes the lift could improve your open toproll but it will also improve all types of toprolls. It’s a toproll lift not just a kingsmove lift.

      People who call Devon's pronation lift " a kingmove " lift never armwrestle or barely do. Devon's lift is basically how you set up with a toproll on table: with your pronation locked out, your backpressure engaged from there you can pull back or punch up... Whatever outside toprolling move that your style is, they all need a strong locked out pronation and backpressure. Ermes started doing Devon's lift after losing to him and said it had improved his pronation, hand strength greatly. Is ermes a kingmover?

      In Levan’s first lift when standing up with the weight; the elbow is not supported. This changes the fail point, and makes the lift more about the shoulder contraction over the elbow flexion. The fail point in the hand is in pronation. The shoulder, pronation, and elbow all hold tight throughout Levar’s lift. So yes this is a good lift. Bowen’s example of this lift, while whereing his green t-shirt; he has almost zero shoulder engagement, his elbow flexion fails until he supports the weight with his hip, and his pronation is opening the entire lift… at least that’s how we see it…🤷‍♂️

      ​@@tablemonkeys5262him having his forearm so vertical would take weight off his pronator and just put more strain on his bone than anything else. Having your forearm in any other position other than parallel with the ground is bad. Test it yourself, make your arm fully perpendicular to the floor when lifting weights like that, and you will see how much easier it is. It might not be ugly, but it's Def not good.

    The larratt lift is cool but he got decimated by levan BADLY. It was pretty embarrassing tbh. It showed how he doesn’t have enough back pressure. Bicep strength is essential
