great presentation as always Daniel. I've tried the Mako D1 with my synths but sadly the big problem is, you can't change tone, mod and age while running and recording without audible parameter jumps. If you set age at 12, and then switching to Mod which was set at 0 before then the mod parameter jumps to 12.. So you can only set a sound for a recording and then you have to play without changing mod, age or tone. It would have been better to use three separate knobs for mod, age and tone.
ya, some things need to be pots and other things need to be encoders. I have synths where you have to horse around with multifunction pots to prevent screwing up mid-performance when changing function (korg and Yamaha) those should be encoders
Pro: It's more fun to mess with actual physical knobs, in a device that is cool and unique. Con: Can mostly do all this in my DAW already. Still, it IS a neat device.
